NBASupes Posted October 24, 2024 Report Posted October 24, 2024 Trae was amazing too. 3 way tie for me with DD, OO, and Trigga 3 1
Moderators AHF Posted October 24, 2024 Moderators Report Posted October 24, 2024 Trae was 30 and 12 and the team was 40 points better with him on the court than off it. I don't give trophies for exceeding expectations so for me this one is at most a 3 way tie but I would go with Trae if I could only go with one of them. 3 1

Spud2nique Posted October 26, 2024 Author Report Posted October 26, 2024 Game 1: OO/DD/Trae W vs Nets Game 2: Trae/DD/Hunter W vs Hornets 1
Moderators AHF Posted October 26, 2024 Moderators Report Posted October 26, 2024 For me game 2 goes to Trae. Literally led the team in points, rebounding, steals (stocks), and assists. But DD and Hunter had great games for them as well. It is just when Trae is scoring as much as the two of them put together, outrebounding both of them, and carrying the offense as a creator and still is effective and disruptive on D that is superstar play. The fact that Jordan was player of the game didn’t mean that Scottie Pippen and Ron Harper didn’t play well or weren’t important. 3

Agree. This is a faint praise type of nomination for him. Trae Trae Zacc So far this season for me. I guess that says something that we have no one who had a standout game but were still in the game for 3 quarters. At least I hope it does. OKC is just a much better team than us right now. They are so deep with quality players and their D is suffocating. Wouldn't be surprised to see them come out of the West. 2

I'm just reiterating the $.02 I already shared on those games. I give the game ball to the best player on the floor unless there legit is a tie or something. I don't give guys game balls for having good games that exceed expectations unless they are in fact the best player on the floor that game. Gary Mathews scoring 30 points and grabbing 8 rebounds still isn't getting the game ball if Trae goes 40 and 10 and is the best player for us even if 30 from GM is clearly a huge lift for the team over his baseline expected production.
Spud2nique Posted October 28, 2024 Author Report Posted October 28, 2024 2 minutes ago, AHF said: unless there legit is a tie And there was in games 1 and 2. You can’t give it to Trae every time otherwise the my system isn’t gonna add up. 3 minutes ago, AHF said: I don't give guys game balls for having good games that exceed expectations unless they are in fact the best player on the floor that game. Disagree. Trae does what he does against the Nets without the SOLID OVER EXCEEDING production of OO and DD on defense and rebounding and toughness we prolly don’t get a W.

Trae does what he does against the Nets without the SOLID OVER EXCEEDING production of OO and DD on defense and rebounding and toughness we prolly don’t get a W. I don't care about expectations. Game ball goes to the best player. If Trae is giving you 30 and 10 every game and so that is his baseline, you don't give it to someone for scoring 18 points when you only expected 8 from them. I agree that OO and DD had nice games in game 1 but Trae and his +40 were still the most important minutes from anyone, imo. We might have lost if any of them missed the game but he was our best player which is what gets the nod for me. By way of example, if Dyson becomes our best player this season I don't give him player of the game over and over until he sets a new baseline of playing All-League defense and putting up 25 / 8 / 5 every game and then start giving the game balls to Vit for putting up 16 and 6 simply because now I expect 25 / 8 / 5 from Dyson every game whereas Vit doubled his expected output. If Dyson is the best and most impactful player on the court game after game, he should win the game ball game after game. Basketball is a team game and almost never will a game be won or lost based on a single player. But for me the game ball goes to the best player that game. It should normally go to the best player on the team because that player will normally be the best player on the court that night.
NBASupes Posted October 31, 2024 Report Posted October 31, 2024 Game 4 - JJ even though I felt Nance had a better game. He put up huge numbers. Game 5 - Wallace. Risacher is honorable mention.

NBASupes Posted November 4, 2024 Report Posted November 4, 2024 Definitely Trae against NO. JJ stats look amazing but he was on his Josh Smith 1
Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted November 4, 2024 Premium Member Report Posted November 4, 2024 Trae had an otherworldly 2nd half. JJ had a monster 4th quarter. 1
