Gray Mule Posted November 9 Report Posted November 9 Seems that Squawk posters have an eye out for a couple of new Hawk players. A new starting center and a back-up Point Guard. If Atlanta could trade both 0017 and Capela for them, then we could have help for Trae and: 1- New Center - 2- Nance - Back-up center - Barlow - 3rd center. Someone said, "We have two centers, therefore we have two back-up centers and no starting center." With Kobe Bufkin missing so much time, our back-up PG seems to sometimes be shaky. Can we pull the trigger on some deals, solve our problems, all the time staying under the dreaded tax? All ideas appreciated. 1
thecampster Posted November 9 Report Posted November 9 Here, all problems fixed for Atlanta. The Russell problem, backup center problem fixed for LA and they get cap relief, some minor issues fixed for Portland. Cam comes home and has to sit behind the rook but we don't make Hunter happy as he doesn't get to play with Cam. Two sets of bad knees shipped out. https://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2ah6qk8l 1 2

That seems like a lot of capital we are giving up. If we are assuming the 1st and Zeller is for Kessler then it's OO and Kobe for Sexton? Nope. 3 1
Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted November 9 Premium Member Report Posted November 9 Roster crunch in Houston? The assignment isn't much of a surprise, as Whitmore's struggles were evident. He's playing on a crowded roster in Houston, with players like Amen Thompson, Tari Eason, and Reed Sheppard fighting for minutes off the bench as wings. Whitmore's sophomore slump comes after a promising rookie year. Last season, the 2023 first-round pick averaged 12.3 points and 3.8 rebounds on 45.4% shooting. 1
ATLHawks3 Posted November 12 Report Posted November 12 A guy I'd really like for us to target is Goga Bitadze from Orlando. He's really turned around his career after getting waived from Indiana a couple years ago. He's Hartenstein-lite, IMO. He's got real passing chops that I think could be unlocked in a bigger role. Here's some highlights he put together over the last week. 4
ATLHawks3 Posted November 12 Report Posted November 12 Also adding in Goga can't be traded until December 15th. I would consider trading Nance Jr. and a second for him.

Only reason I can think of is if they are looking to clear his salary ($8, $7 mil) over the next 2 years to move further under the tax.

My thinking is that Goga will always be behind 2 capable centers in Mo Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. and so his value will probably not be any higher than it is now unless they decide to trade either one of them. Also, for tax implications too, this team will soon get very expensive starting next season when both Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner's deals kick in. So getting an expiring guy like Nance who can effectively fill the 3rd center/backup power forward role that Goga is currently filling and getting a second round pick to add to their asset pool should be a good transaction for them. However, I think other teams will probably check-in with Orlando considering that a lot of contenders are in need of some big man help. So maybe 2 seconds and Nance gets it done?

Nance is probably one of the best contract and fits we have at Center. He is also arguably better than Goga. It’s not his fault we have 3 playable centers on our roster and not enough minutes or creativity from Quin to play them. 2
ShooterSays Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 Summer of 2029 - The Homecoming: Ant Edwards He'd still only be 28. Ant, 28 Jalen, 28 Zacc, 24 Dyson, 26 Trae, 31 Is it likely? Idk... But he'll be an unrestricted free agent in 2029 and anything is possible! 2

Premium Member sturt Posted November 28 Premium Member Report Posted November 28 58 game pledge. And most critical, games 54, 55, 56, 57 and 58 (immediately following ASB). Folks, I get kidded, chided, criticized, but so many exceptional playoff teams through the years prove it's not uncommon that the team you are admiring in the last 1/3 of the season took at least the first 1/3, and possibly the first 2/3 of the season to get into the groove that eventually gave them inertia for a stellar post season. I'd not be back here except this Risacher kid impresses me as having more significant potential than I think is typically believed. I wasn't an early convert, but he's better in areas that I didn't really see before he put on an NBA uni. We win when Risacher performs even just adequate. With some karma allowing us to enjoy health for a change, I only see this team incrementally maturing, developing more and more chemistry on both ends of the court. That said, I will continue to pound the table that Dom Barlow needs to get his chance to make an impact. He has capacity to be a solid contributor in the low post. 1

Premium Member sturt Posted November 29 Premium Member Report Posted November 29 Just fyi... not advocating but informing... Some believe that LNJr is going to be too hot a commodity for Landry to resist sending out... his name comes up repeatedly in this recent podcast that The Athletic's Sam Vecenie does...
