I don't know what games yall are watching but I don't see Smith getting beat by his man too often. He basically takes everyone he guards out of their comfort zone. Even during fastbreaks I have seen people short arm layups because they know that Josh may be coming. I mean I can't count how many game changing blocks Smoove has had this year.

Some of you may think that blocks are a useless statistic but I would disagree because they either change possessions or shorten possessions.

Please, no one is challenging whether blocked shots are significant or not. It's not a knock on Josh to say that he is not yet an all-NBA defensive player. The Pistons just wouldn't play him in place of Sheed on defense.

I think the Joshes are playing well, they just aren't the 6th men of the year or all-NBA defense.

I think they just do forwards regardless of position...so AK and Marion could both be first team.

If you had to pick 2-3 forwards to play defense, would you guys really pick this 20 year old? He's a good shot blocker, but that doesn't make him an all-NBA player.

of course not. Smith isn't even our best defensive player.

He is one of the best shot blockers in the country, not one of the best defenders. Just like he is one of the best dunkers, but not one of the best scorers / offensive players in the league.

If there was an all-blocking team he would possibly make it

Agreed. Plus there is absolutely no way anyone from one of the worst defensive teams in the league deserves inclusion among the league's best defenders.

Smoove has potential, but he has a ways to go before he is referred to as one of the games premier defenders.

Of the four you mentioned, only AI would be what I considered a good deal. And even that could have been a bad deal based on their demands. Nene is busted, Franchise is a huge gamble and Watson isn't a starter. IMO, if he rejected those deals (which rumors suggest he did), then he did a good job. I consider myself competent and I didn't hear any rumors of good deals out there. Every one of them had us taking on huge risks and/or guaranteed rookie contracts. I can't consider that good for this team.

Yeah picking up All-stars are such a big risk.

You cannot do a Sign and Trade on an unrestricted FA.

Don't pay attention much in the off season, huh?

Do you know how Harrington was acquired? A sign and trade with our unrestricted FA Stephen Jackson.

thanks for pointing this out again. this is the most ridiculous and wrong idea that a lot of the "overreacting because we didn't trade al" members of the squawk for some reason still cling to. the sign and trade allows teams that are at or near the cap to acquire al. with the exception of a team like the bulls, most teams out there don't have the cap room to sign him outright, and some of these teams want to acquire him. at the same time, a team with cap room, like the bulls, would have to compete against teams willing to give something up to sign him, so al is NOT worthless because he's an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year. he has value because he's an unrestricted free agent who may command more salary than a lot of teams have room to give him outright.

So we are supposed to believe that some team, who didn't want to trade for him at 6.7 million, all of a sudden are going to want to trade for him at 9-10 million per? Please...We will end up getting offered the same stiffs we could have gotten before the trade deadline..the difference now is that there isn't the pressure of a playoff push to make team offer up a better grade of stiff..BK blew it.
