  1. The biggest advantage the Hawks have in this game is the time off, I think. It's a lot easier for a defensive team to come out and play after a 5-day break than a high scoring team. I feel like the Pacers shooters will come out rusty, and our defense will be solid. This is a really nice situation for the Hawks to play a team so close to them in the standings.

  2. Yea, good point. I guess if you think he turns every ounce of potential into performance, he could be the best. But a guy like Smoove is more likely to be that because I think we all can agree his ceiling is much higher. You could have the same thread about Horford, if he gets every bit out of his potential, he'd be the best Hawk ever also, I'd say.

  3. Is the amount of votes for Marvin a joke? I love him as much as anyone, or at least I thought I did, but the only way you can vote "yes" is if you think Josh Smith doesn't reach his ceiling and Marvin does. They both have the potential to be the best Hawk ever, but I think Smith has a better chance. Last night, while Marvin was having possible his best game as a Hawk, Smith still have 18pts, 12 Rbs, 5 blks, and 2 steals ... that type of line is becoming commonplace for Smoove.

  4. Letting someone go is not just about attitude, the Knicks want to give Nate Robinson the reigns ... you're reasoning is flawed because the same rumors about Marbury are happening about Eric Snow, the perfect example of a professional, coach on the court type guy. Teams just get rid of previous starters to usher in a new era and decrease uncertainty. Look at the Jaguars with Leftwich.

Law isn't quite ready and everyone else the Hawks have at PG are awful. Marbury will at least be able to run a fast paced offense. I think the concerns of him taking a team to the playoffs would also be decreased because we wouldn't be paying him the ridiculous salary he's had for his entire career. When a guy has one of the biggest contracts in the NBA, it's tough to get solid players around him, which explains a lot of Garnett's problems in Minny.

  5. Couple things, Eric Campbell is the 3B of the future and Renteria is signed through 2009, at which point Lillibridge or Andrus should be ready to go there ... Should we trade Escobar, I really think Kelly Johnson will be fine at 2nd and 1B/Catcher will be split between McCann and Salty with Thorman backing up. It's worth trading Escobar for a big starter, we need one, bad.

  6. I think the hitting will be fine, they've actually scored more runs than anyone the last two weeks. The bullpen should be alright too, especially when they get Soriano at closer, Devine is with them now also, he's been tearing up the minors. They need another starter somehow, I would be willing to give up Yunel to get him, no way on Saltalamachia. Escobar doesn't have power, if he did, I'd be right with you. But the Braves could get someone really good for him, so I say go for it.

  7. The organization needs to make some type of move, they know how excited the fan base got about the potential Amare trade, and they've gotta know how pissed/disappointed the majority is that there wasn't a single move made. Hopefully it isn't too rash though, but the organization needs to generate some excitement for next year.

  8. Totally agree, Hollinger turned me off about Acie as well. During the season though, watching Law, I definitely wanted him on the Hawks. Sturt- Conley got all his hype during the time Oden was hurt when he was carrying OSU, without that he would have been available at #11, for sure. He had to prove that he could do it without Oden

  9. There are a lot of teams that need shooters more than the Hawks .. namely the Cavs, we need to address the Center problem, and the mediocrity at PG first and foremost. BTW Ncthompson, I love the Skins, Hawks, and Braves too .. really weird, didn't think there was anyone else out there with those three, haha.

  10. Dumb move by Yi and the Bucks, they should have immediately approached them saying they were going to trade him. In that case Yi could say he's just happy to be in the NBA and then the Bucks could get full value. They're in a tough spot now, I'm sure he'll end up on the West coast, probably the Lakers, there is no chance the Hawks get him

  11. Dallas is definetly considering giving him up (for the Bucks' #6) .. I'm not sure the #11 will be enough though. Chill/#11 is probably too much, even though Harris is like a poor mans Tony Parker and fills a huge need.
