  1. I will be in attendance. I won a fanduel contest back in January and scored a pair of regular season tickets. I am not sure where the seats are located, but this will be the first Hawks game I have seen. Pretty excited. I just hope Korver plays.

I'll be joining you at Pepsi.  I try to make the Hawks game every year, but missed last season.  Very excited to see Bud's team in person though.  Go Hawks!

  2. Hawks should trade for DH. It gives us at least 1 year of becoming relevant, possibly more. I love Horford, but you have to have a superstar to win a championship, and I don't think Horf will ever reach that level. Take the chance, if it works then we are a force to be reckoned with for the next 3-5 years, if not, then we rebuild through the draft in the lottery where you have a chance to get that superstar.

  3. We should take advantage of his size and play him mostly at the 2 spot. The SG position is pretty weak in the NBA and Johnson probably rates as a top 5 SG in the league right now, or right around there. His size gives him an advantage against other 2 guards and he is a solid perimeter defender. Playing him at the 3 would lose him those advantages that make him a solid player.

  4. I agree that I doubt TOR would make that trade. The only logical trade (guys with high enough salaries and guys they would dump) I see would be JJ for #8/Kleiza/Amir Johnson. Not great, but not horrendous either. It would rid us of Joe's contract, a lottery pick, and add some decent bench guys. I can't see TOR trading Calderon and definitely not Bargnani, and the rest of their guys make too little for their value.

  5. Not a bad idea. Couple things/issues with the scenario. First, LAL doesn't have a 1st this season (Ramon Sessions trade) so that would have to be removed. I really hope we wouldn't draft Sullinger if he were available in that spot. If we go big, we should go Moultrie. I have doubts that Sully transitions to the NBA. I like the idea of Kaman at a reasonable price and Kevin Martin would be a solid stopgap offensively. Plus it would be nice to see what Horford could do full-time at the 4. Overall, I like the trade and think it makes sense for most teams involved. We might as well get something for Smoove before he bolts. With all that being said, since this makes pretty good sense, I won't hold my breath waiting for the Hawks to do this :-)

  6. I can't see trading Smoove and JJ unless we're getting a superstar in return or a star player plus a high lottery pick. I don't know where Houston's picks will be but unless they're top 3 I'd probably say no to this.

Houston will probably have the 14 and 16 picks in the draft, with the 14th being dependent on the lottery. My original idea was trading with just the Lakers, Smoove and JJ for Gasol and Metta, with the hopes of the Lakers throwing in a 1st. But low and behold, they don't have one this year. That trade would satisfy your desire to get a superstar. We could then try and trade Marvin or Metta, Marvin most likely being more sought of the 2. This trade would give us a nice offensive post game, but defensively it could get ugly. Either way we get out of Joe's contract and Pau's deal is 2 years shorter.
  7. What would you guys think of this trade

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cztmc9g

    ATL gets

    Kevin Martin

    Sam Dalembert

    Luis Scola

    One of Houston's 1st rounders

    LAL gets

    Josh Smith

    Joe Johnson

    HOU gets

    Pau Gasol

    Metta World Peace

For the Hawks we get rid of Joe's contract (and take back a less bad contract in Scola). Martin replaces Johnson, Horf gets to play PF where I think he would be successful at, and as long as Dalembert could be a decent rebounder/defender, then defense wouldn't suffer too bad (hopefully). And we would go into the draft with 2 picks and save about $4.4 million this year, and $11 and $12 the following 2 years.

The Lakers get a ridiculous starting 5 (Sessions, Kobe, JJ, Smoove and Bynum) and a legit shot at winning another title or 2 for Kobe. Their salary would be rough next year, but not too bad after that (depending if they resigned both Bynum and Smoove).

Houston would get the big man they wanted last year (Gasol) and a decent (but overpaid) SF in Metta. They could throw out Lowry, Courtney Lee, Parsons or Metta, Gasol, and Camby.

Would you guys do this? I would as long as we got rid of watching Iso-Joe. Plus this would give us a chance to somewhat rebuild without throwing everything away.

  8. Elvis Andrus should not be traded, no matter what. An 18 year old middle infielder with a ton of upside. In saying that, Teixeira would be a great addition for a sorry production position we have, and I would hate to give up Salty for him. But it would make our lineup dangerous. We still need some help, especially a left reliever that can get lefties out (ie- not Ledezma). Hopefully Schuerholz has some cards up his sleeve and can get us some more pitching.

  9. Horford has a much better chance to help the Hawks than Yi does. If this were 2 years ago, I'd be all for Yi, but we have no room for Yi. I'd prefer Conley first, then go after Camby, or Horford then try to go for Calderon. Regardless, Yi brings more people to the Arena, but for what? To watch him sit around and watch the Hawks almost make the playoffs but not because we still dont have a big man with post moves(Horford) or a legit PG who can run a team(Conley).

  10. Yes, let's watch Yi sit his a$$ on the bench because we have so many forwards. At least if we got Horford, we know they are going to try and play him some at Center, so he won't take Marvins minutes away (who is still only 2 years into the league). We have to take a position of need, and seeing how our needs are PG and C, and there are 2 guys rated highly enough by many folks out there for those 2 positions, how about we just draft Horford or MCJ. This way we help the team on the court, not getting new Chinese business deals.
