  1. Yeah, i'm not optimistic. The way he just stopped playing and grabbed the arm while it dangled is not good. Let's hope it is a hyper-extension or something less than another torn pectoral.

I just watched a video of when he got hurt. It did NOT look good! Hopefully, it is not as bad as it looked! But, I am sure glad that the Hawks did NOT trade Paul Millsap!

  2. It was suggested in another thread a three way trade that would bring Noah here.Houston: MillsapChicago: Asik, rights to Bebe and a first from HoustonAtlanta: Noah

That looks like as great trade for all three teams! It would be great to see Al Horford and Joakim Noah reunited again (As Hawks!)!

  3. I might be one of a few Hawks fans that is very pleasantly surprised at their current record (14-12) and the way they are playing so far this season. I was very pleased and excited when the Hawks signed Danny Ferry to be their GM and I really thought he would have a huge positive impact on the Hawks future but I will admit that I was not very optimistic about the current season. I thought it would take him a couple of seasons (Growing Pains/Transitions) to get a competitive roster but here they are at 14-12 and playing pretty good basketball! With as quickly as he has made the Hawks competitive I can't wait to see what they look like in another year or two! Danny Ferry might just be one of the best hiring the Hawks have made in a long, long time!

  4. The Hawks trade for Pau Gasol. He makes 19.3 million this season but he is in the last year of this deal. He would be great in the eastern conference. Plus we could play him at center and slide Horford to pf. Not sure who we would trade but I wouldn't be surprised at all.I

I was kind of curious about Gasol. I watched a clip earlier of Doug Collins and some other guy talking about possible trades and the other guy suggested the Rockets trade Asik to the Hawks in an even trade. I kept waiting for him to add another player or draft pick but that never happened. He and Collins both think Asik could help the Hawks a lot defensively but I still think the Rockets would need to sweeten the pot (trade)! But, then the other guy goes on to say that he really thinks Gasol will be traded before the deadline so the Lakers don't end up losing him for nothing at the end of the season. They never mentioned the Hawks as a possible trading partner for Gasol but if the Hawks don't get Asik then could Gasol be a possibility? I have no idea of the salary ramifications or if there is even any interest by either the Hawks or the Lakers to discuss this trade but it seems like it could be a good move for the Hawks IF the price was right.

  5. Be careful what you wish for - - you just might get it. True, we desperately need that big man to rebound and play defense.Asik fits this exactly. Problem is on the other end. He has no threes, ever in his NBA career. His field goal % otherwise is not that greatand, the thing that concerns me, he hits .534 free throws. That's worsethan JS when he was here and that's terrible. Millsap has been great. Are we sure we want him gone? Hawks have two centers over seas who are seemingly as good as Asikand they could be here next season. Is 1/2 year with Asik and withoutMillsap worth it? You decide. :scenic:

I have been having those same thoughts! As much as I have been wanting the Hawks to get a "True" Center and leave Horford at the Forward position I sure would hate to see the Hawks lose Milsap (I think he has been a HUGE addition to the Hawks roster!)! But, if the Hawks do trade Milsap I certainly hope they get more in return than just Asik!
  6. Could the Hawks be so lucky? I have to admit that I didn't feel real confident about the Hawks chances of reaching the playoffs this season (but, I did feel really confident that Ferry had the Hawks going in the right direction!) but after the past few games I will now be very surprised if they don't make the playoffs!

And, that trade by Ferry with the Nets could end up being a stroke of genius (probably seemed like a minor detail back when the trade was made)! Thanks to Danny Ferry I feel really good about the Hawks future!

    Go Hawks!

    Go WHOEVER plays the Nets!

  7. By hitting a couple of three pointers already in tonight's game can someone tell me did that tie him with the record or is he still short a game or two? I know it is not the most important record in the NBA but I still think it is pretty impressive and he IS a HAWK!

  8. Has anyone been able to keep up with our young, big draftees? I apologize if there's already a thread for this, but I didn't see one so I figured I'd put this up so we could keep each other updated on what the latest buzz is overseas.

I was definitely in favor of having both of them play there this season as I was of the opinion that both needed some "extra seasoning" overseas. It's just that Elton Brand looks like he's in that journeyman stage of his career, and I'm anxious for either of these two to develop enough to take over his spot next season.

I haven't heard much about Noguiera lately... Is he injured?

It sure would be nice to see both those players make the Hawks roster next season! Add those two players along with a HIGH draft pick (thanks to the Nets!) to the Hawks roster and the Hawks could show some major improvements next season. But, I will confess that the Hawks are playing much better this season than I expected!

  9. Thank you, Danny Ferry. And yes, he apparently IS that much smarter than those claiming he didn't have a clue. What he's done with this team, especially dumping JJ and getting potential lottery picks in '14 AND '15 in the process, is borderline genius.

    Totally Agree!
  10. A lot of people are upset because of this start because 1st of all, they will have to admit to being wrong about a lot of things but in particular Jeff Teague. And secondly, we will miss out on our opportunity to draft a guaranteed superstar which will lead a championship down the road. So no, many of the board do not share your happiness and enthusiasm regarding the Hawk's current record! Look no further than how quite the board is after every victory vs how many show up during loses. But what can you say?

If, the reports that the Hawks can exchange 1st round picks with the Nets in 2014 (and, 2015?) are true then the Hawks have the best of both worlds! Hawks fans can cheer for our Hawks to win (which, is the way it should be!) and cheer for whoever plays the Nets. So, if everything goes well, the Hawks make the playoffs AND they get a lottery pick (Thanks Nets!) in both 2014 & 2015!
