  1. I'd have to say I'm a Bembry guy. I like all aspects he brings to the team. I believe he's the 3rd pg and primary back up at 2 or 3 so he gets solid minutes this season.

He seems to have some confidence issues so I want to see him perform consistently this preseason to spring board him to a fast start of the season which he desperately needs if he wants a long term deal.

Can't believe we couldn't negotiate top 3 protection instead of top 5. Dallas wanted Doncic BAD and we should have been able to exploit that. That's the most dissapointing aspect about yesterdays trade IMO.

Well, yeah they did want Doncic bad, however, Schlenk wanted Young just as bad. There were no secrets in this draft. Social media had it all spilling out. I wish they could have compromised top 4, I wonder why NBA teams make it those protected odd numbers like that.

Dallas is going to be bad, it's no way around that. Sac and Pho will have better records than them, I'd put a shiny coin on that.

They'll being battling with Atl, Orl, and perhaps Cle for the worst record in the league.

It’s Bagley for me. What sold me was the game against Mo Bamba and Texas.

You saw head to headwhat both players can do well. And Bagley just happens to do more things well than Bamba.

Bamba was a force on the glass and challenging shots, but fouled out because he is a rim protector and that’s what happens when you challenge everything.

Meanwhile Bagley was shooting, passing, leading the break, finishing the break, grabbed a few boards with Bamba on top of him. Even started playing D on Bamba down the stretch. The best thing was as Duke climbed back from like 15 down, they were feeding Bagley the ball and playing off him. He was the go to guy.

Bamba can’t do that, JJJ can’t do that. That’s a special gene that separates players from good to elite.

I also believe that Bagley has some combo Forward in him. I think he can continue to expand his game and play similar to Durant of the dribble. He’s fast enough and is already comfortable facing up from the perimeter.

    Thats just me thinking

I mean you could easily post the State vs Duke game where MB had 4 points and 6 rebounds, and JJJ had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Duke has 4 four 1st rounders, possibly 5 with Grayson Allen in the starting lineup. Bamba wasn't playing with any NBA talent with Texas. I really needed to see both play with good pgs in college.

  4. If Bagley had plus length than I would be all over the pick. He has Collins length with nowhere near the athletic ability.

On the other spectrum, a 7 footer with 7-10 wingspan, nearly 9-8 standing reach. Mobile with NBA range. I mean he tippy toes to touch the rim.

  5. Bamba is an extremely mobile Mutombo. You can take that how you will, for me, that's worth a top 3 pick. His offense has a higher ceiling than most realize, but it will take a great coach to get it out of him...

Sure, you'd want an alpha male scorer like Harden, Kobe, Leron, etc. but this draft offers no such talent. It offers an influx of bigs. Now next year's draft has some very nice swingmen talent.

  6. Dennis is like that last remaining remnant of the Bud/Ferry era. He's surely to be gone sooner or later. It's just the wrong time to trade him with an all time low value.

There's still some potential to fill out and get stronger with his frame if he dedicates his summer to it. In the same breath, some people are still waiting on Jamal Crawford to fill out...

  7. 1. Millsap was great for the years he played in Atlanta. His knees seem to be petering out and it was time to let him go. I have confidence Bud and Schlenk can find an under the radar free agents like a JaMychal Green and get the most out their abilities.

    2. The team has real cap space going forward to the tune of 30 to 40 million. More when some glorious day when Baze and Plumlee can be moved.  Dedmon is sure to opt out. He, Illy, Beli, Muscala will be involved in trade talks.

    3. Draft - the team should have 3 first round picks and a high 2nd rounder in one of the stronger drafts to date. It's good timing. Granted, the Houston pick doesn't look all too appealing. They have minimal depth and a key injury here and there is something to keep an eye on.

    4. Young players - Prince has shown he score from range and inside. He struggles to find a rhythm, but if the light comes on, he'll be a solid piece going forward. Collins is basically Horford with a great motor. He never seems to perspire any, something I just notice about him. I need to see Bembry back healthy. His stats don't pop but he plays winning basketball. Schröder has exceeded his draft position. The team gets to see if the defacto "face of the franchise" is a worthwhile reign. I honestly don't like he's turned into a shoot first pg. I dislike ball sticking to his hands on nearly all his possesions and almost non existent defense.

All in all, you can't really judge this team until a good year from now. Schlenk surely will be heavy in trade movement. There's multiple free agents to keep an watch on like Bradley, Favors, Jabari Parker, Noel, etc.

I'd say let's not Bobby Sura ourselves with meaningless wins.

Sura led the revolt. He had some minions along the way.

Captain Jax was killing it. Averaging something like 25, 5, 4 his final 2 months. How they didn't try to lock him up is beyond me.

Jason Terry avg. 18.5, 6, 4 his final 2 months. My favorite young Hawk at the time.

Lastly, Killer Chris Crawford was having himself a career season. 19 and 5 his final two months. Sad that his knee injury ended his career.

  9. The closest comp for Prince I've seen is Ariza with less ball handling. He doesn't have the footspeed to get past his defender as you see him try to get off first by picking up his pivot foot before dribbling.

He'll get all that cleaned up eventually. I'll like him to gain more mass and absorb the contact instead of trying to blow by. His ceiling isn't all star but his floor is solid starter for years.

At least our prize is going to be some 19 year old who is 2-3 years away from being able to make a meaningful impact on winning games.  YAY!!!!

Hah. Was not Collins a 19 year old rookie worth acquiring. I have little doubts Schlenk can accrue some good talent to the base.

But to the Mia game, he does need to work on his defense but what rookie is ahead of the curve there. He gives tremendous effort else where. Bud is hesitant to pair two interior based frontcourt players like Collins and Dedmon. He's always mixing and matching Illy and Muscala with the two.

  11. Bembry needs more overall confidence. He plays with comfortability on the defensive end. I think his mid range game is solid. He just has to be more assertive and less passive. His long range game will take YEARS to rectify. He's probably the best finisher on the team so that's another plus for his outlook.

Kenny Atkinson would salivate on the development of this type of player.

  12. My general thoughts about the game.

Don't remember games starting this early so it's more of a scrimmage than actually preseason game. Baze and Dennis try to do entirely too much. The more Baze plays, the more I hate him, smh. Out of all the minimum signings/camp invitees, I like Cook and Babbit the most.

The Dedmon signing looks like a homerun. He's very active. Speaking of active, Collins has a bright future. It's very clear he's the one they should try to build with/around. Not a bad frontcourt for this lost season. Prince just looked bewildered out there.

Two good acquisitions by Schlenk. Bud was taking the franchise down a bad path his moves. Baze was terrible. Delaney is not NBA caliber imo. Dennis' contract could come back to bite the team if he doesn't improve his maturity.
