Honestly, it looks like we will be a middle of the pact team for a while with not having the assets to acquire anything that makes us worthy of being a title contender. Unless we can draft a Paul George like Pacers got lucky with at the 10-14 range and then again how often does that happen?

I was finally actually getting excited for the NBA as our future looked bright, but I should've known being a Hawks fan it was too good to be true..

Marvin scored more ppg, grabbed more rbg and shot a significantly higher percentage as a 19 year old rookie than 22 year old Terrence Williams is doing on the worst team in NBA history. But he looks much more experienced than Marvin in his first 3 years, including year 3 when he averaged 15 ppg and 6 rpg on 46% shooting? Are we just going literally on his actual looks here?

Perusing Bibby's game log, he had a 0/1/1 night against the Spurs in January. Surprise surprise, that was a loss too.

He's laid several eggs throughout the year, most of them losses. Stating the obvious at this point, but we'd be a much better team if we had a pg who could defend and average more than 2 rebs. a game.

We have the worst starting PG in the NBA besides maybe Fisher

Let's bottom line it for you really easily....

Was/Is Marvin better than Al Harrington?

Harrington was traded to "make room for Marvin to play". Why is that... Why would you trade a guy giving you 18/8 who said he wanted to be here?

Was/IS Marvin better than Chillz?

Chillz had to spend his days playing behind Marvin who was just as unpreductive and inconsistent then as he is now. Why is that? Why would you do that to a guy who didn't need plays drawn out for him to score and could get offensive rebounds and high efficiency the way Chillz did?

Was/IS Marvin better than Flip Murray?

Last year, when Marvin got hurt... We played Joe at the three and Murray at the 2 and we had more success with that lineup than we did with Marvin playing. We had more wins, our offense ran better. Our defense was better. Why would we get rid of flip who was a bargain and pay Mavin better than guys like Artest and Ariza??

Finally... Is Marvin better than Crawford?

Anybody who has seen Joe playing the 3 last year has got to wonder... Why is Crawford coming off the bench?

For years, we have heard of all these players who were better than Marvin.. OH, they are better off the bench... That's BS. Each one of these guys could start. Or worse... Oh, they play better down the stretch.. and while that's true, you don't punish them and not let them start because they can finish. Kobe plays better down the stretch too, that doesn't mean that you're going to put Shannon Brown in the starting lineup ahead of him.

So let's examine some of the questions I have raised and get to the real deal.

We traded Al to make room for Marvin. Marvin would have never earned the starting position over Al. Period. Marvin is still not better than Al.

We played Chillz behind Marvin because we've been waiting for some explosion of talent to burst fourth from Marvin that will make him more than just a role player. There was a lot of throwing around of the P word when Chillz was here.

We didn't start Flip because Flip was a Journeyman and Marvin was a 2nd pick in the draft. Regardless of how we (myself included) may feel about Marvin, we still have to keep his trade value up.

We gave Marvin a new contract because he still has value. I bought this argument as well. You don't just trash a guy with value for nothing in return.... Even if all we can get is a 2nd rounder and cap space, then that's more than not resigning him.

We let Marvin start over Crawford now because Crawford will win 6th man of the year.

That's the truth... What you will do will continue to raise your feelings.

If Marvin were playing with another team right now and even if we had sorry Mo Evans as our starting Sf, nobody on this board would suggest trading for Marvin at 7.5 Million per over the next 4. Nobody would want that deal because he's not worth it.

Well Al Harrington can't even start on a weak Knicks team and plays little to no defense and is older, I'd rather have Marvin

Yes he was better back then and he's better now, no one sees childress as a starter and thats why no one wanted to give him remotely anything of value and thats why he is where he is now, he's a solid guy off the bench, not a starter.

Was/IS Marvin better than Flip Murray?

Considering Flip murray gets bounced around from team to team due to the fact that he isn't that special Marvin was and is better than Flip

Finally... Is Marvin better than Crawford?

No Marvin is not a better player than Crawford, but Crawford is a selfish player at times and can be a cancer at times, but yes Crawford is better

I agree fully I have been reading this board since the season started for the most start and all the Marvin bashing is unnecessary

Lets be honest though, If Marvin was someone that was drafted 17th and Smooth was drafted 2 instead of second in place of Chris Paul and Deron he would not even be getting chastised as much as he does now, get over the past it wont change today.

Marvin Williams is doing fine as being the sixth option on this team, I don't understand all this hate on this board, if he was a higher option like he was before he would get 17 and 7 like its nothing, its hard to get into a rhythm when joe and jamal are just going iso and you get no looks.
