  1. I am so happy this happened.  My favorite two Hawks are gone. Now I don't have any interest in this franchise which is not much different than it was when I moved to ATL in 2002. 14 years later and they are still lying to there fans. Bud has a system? Yeah right, we were a below .500 team in Bud's first year. The players are still the system. Ferry was already caught in his  BS. Bud had a DUI right after signing with the Hawks. There was really a competition between Teague and Dennis for the PG position and Dennis won? That trade Teague for nothing worthy of noting in the draft was really smart? Volatile Dwight and Dennis. We really have a culture change? No, these guys are used car salesmen.

  2. I said to myself that I was going to make one last post on this site if and when Teague was traded so that Dennis could take over but my energy has left me with this poor trade. I will simply state that there was no competition between Teague and Dennis; it was more like controversy. Finally, I will not do it on this site where people argue just to argue, but I contest anyone that says Teague has peaked with facts.

  3. I'm going to keep saying this until it sinks in. Al ' s rebounding is down by design. He is anchoring our defense on the perimeter hedging and blocking shots. If he is on the perimeter he is not in prime position to rebound. He is sacrificing rebounds to make us the number one defensive team in the NBA.

When I watch the game this jumps off the screen for me. The reason we aren't getting killed on the boards anymore is because our wing players finally started rebounding like they're supposed to when their big helps them out.

Al even mentioned this when they interviewed him after the Detroit game. They asked him about the 16 rebounds and he said he got them because against Detroit he didn't have to play on the perimeter as much.He mentioned the defense is designed for him to be on the perimeter.

For Al's career he's averaged pretty close to a double double, but under this system I believe his max rebound average will be about 8.5. As far as scoring that just comes down to usage. The more shots he gets the more he scores; his efficiency doesn't really seem to be impacted by higher usage.

Al takes the 2nd most shot on the team.

  4. He's in there now.  You were right.  That other guy being so dismissive just irked me.  He needs to open his mind.

The other guy being dismissive and irking you is not bothered by you being irked. He also stated up 30 going into the fourth it would be fine to put Payne in there. The other guys point was well stated and obvious. Payne is not ready so don't put him in there until the game is decided.

    Why Not Ohio St?

They got to the final four but there is no way they beat Alabama because they are not that good and really don't deserve to be there.

    Ohio St 42

    Alabama 35

    Final score

Well, there is zero chance they beat Oregon. Oregon is simply too explosive and talented for them. Yes, this is true even though they just beat the number one rated team in the playoff system.

    Ohio St 42

    Oregon 20

    Final score

Why can't we be Ohio State? The team that everyone doubts the whole year? Why do we have to go getting cocky, taking the Alabama, Oregon, approach to be the superior team with the superior talent?

I am noticing threads popping up by people calling games like this against Philly AAU games. Are we supposed to be happy with a coach that is so cocky and unprofessional that he throws games by pulling multiple players for rest just because you have four games this week?

We should not be happy this at all. It simply sends the wrong message. We are not Alabama or Oregon, we are not cocky and blessed with superior talent. We are Ohio St, the underdogs no matter how many games we win, how professional we are, how good our coach is.

This is not a Ohio St moment. This is a Alabama, Oregon, moment.

  6. Silly? You're welcome to yoru opinion, but I take some vindication in the fact that, on cue, Payne was called up yesterday.

We'll see how the minutes thing works out for him and Moose tonight.

Personally, I think if you're committed to a philosophy that focuses on player development, you are sensitive to the fact that only a subset of games will present a viable opportunity for you to insert the players you're attempting to develop into some level of NBA-quality action. So, it makes sense to me that games against the bottom-most teams of the league would be used in that way.

While the short view worries about winning the game, the long view understands that it's entirely plausible that they're going to be forced into some important minutes at some point in the journey. Like most things in life, both are credible views, and it's important to strike the right balance between the two concerns.

The last and only game Payne played in was the Bucks game that we got destroyed in. I happen to think that was our most unprofessional game and playing Payne was part of the unprofessional attitude that was exhibited in that game. He looked totally lost and out of sync like the whole team. Why play Payne tonight? Because the Sixers are not that good. That is the only reason. That is also the wrong attitude and approach to take. Don't take any team lightly. Payne is not a rotation player. If it is a 30 pt blowout going into the fourth play him, other than that he should not be out there.
