  1. Bucher just said on the 10am sportscenter that the Knicks should not be counted on with JJ. Also thinks they might have jumped Chicago in JJ's preferred destinations. Interesting. Not sure why JJ would want to go to NY unless one of the big boys goes there. They will be worse than us.

Thoughts on max to JJ: We kind of had to do it. We wouldnt be nearly as good without him, we werent gonna get anything decent in a sign and trade, and we werent gonna get jack squat if he left us except some mid level player that wouldnt be as good as JJ. Its not our money. Hopefully this doesnt mess up our ability to resign Big Al. Thats the one issue I see. However, I think we deal Bibby in order to sign Al. Its important for us to continue to make the playoffs and we will be really good with everyone coming back. Maybe we even bring in a solid vet.

My thoughts on Chills. Wish hed be back although doubtful if we bring JJ back. My worry if we brought him back and traded Marvin is that we lose perimeter shooting. I think we trade Chills. Hopefully we get a 1st round pick and or a solid vet.

  2. The Hawks can offer more money to Joe than any other team can offer. If all contracts start at 16 million dollars the Knicks could offer Joe a 5 year contract for 93 million dollars. THe Hawks could offer a 5 year 97 million dollar contract. The real hawks advantage is that they could offer a 6th year that the KNicks couldn't match for a total contract of 6 years and 121 million. But Joe could elect to take the Knicks offer even if the Hawks offered more money.

First, I think Joe will be back.

But, if he doesnt want to come back...a sign in trade is in his best interest as we can offer the most money/years.

I highly doubt that Joe would walk and we'd get nothing. It doesnt make financial sense for him.

  3. Whats funny is ESPN is still giving us little to no credit. If we win, its "Boston is playing poorly, or they choked." If they win, its that they are great and we are terrible.

There is a reason we are shooting many more FT's than they are. Its not the refs. We are playing extremely aggresively. Usually, we can be turned into a jumpshooting team, but we have done this to Boston and we have consistently taken the ball to the rack. This is really a lot more about the Hawks playing very well at home than it is anything else. My question is...what took so long and why cant we play like this more consistently during the regular season?

  4. A few things...

Bibby hasnt been that open but for about 2-3 occasions in the entire series.

Also, Nash isnt half the defender Rondo is.

Further, this is the playoffs and players arent given this kind of room to operate.

Boston plays MUCH better defense than Phoenix, who really doesnt play defense. Boston is one of the best defensive teams in the league.

If Bibby could get a few open looks I think he could get into some kind of groove. I dont understand why we dont go back to the Bibby picks for Joe play. If they double Joe on the screen, then Bibby would have more open looks. That play carried us through game 4 and I havent seen much of it since.

  5. It has happened before. Plus, it saves them over 20 million dollars in salary for a guy that at best is their 3rd string pg and for a guy that doesnt play. Phoenix doesnt want any first round picks anyways. They made that clear last year.

  6. I figured he wasnt playing but Woody did say a week ago that Chills could be ready as early as tonight. Whats the exact nature of his injury? Should we be concerned this will last longer into the season?

  7. Indiana fans are on their high horse right now and would like to think that Al only wants to play for them and nobody else. The truth, in my opinion, is that Harrington likes a number of places (he's stated publically that he likes Chicago, LA, NY and GS as well) and he really just wants to get paid. But Indy fans dont want to hear that.

  8. Good players/prospects available from picks 18-24 in the last 8 years:

    2005-gerald green

2004-jameer nelson/ david harrison was available too, as was duhon

    2003-david west, josh howard

    2002-Tayshaun Prince, Carlos Boozer

2001- Zach Randolph, Jamaal Tinsley, Sam Dalembert, Tony Parker, Gilbert Arenas

2000- Jamal Magliore, Speedy Claxton, Mike Redd

1999- Jeff Foster, Andrei Kirilenko, Ginobli

1998-Al Harrington, Rashard Lewis, Cuttino Mobley

1997-Bobby Jackson, Bonzi Wells, Stephen Jackson

As you can see, that pick isnt worthless, its just what we do with it. I'm not saying BK will take the right player, but every year, the right player is available there. And yes, some of these guys above have gone on to average 19 a game and become better players than Al. You'll also see that some of the centers that have been mentioned on this board such as Mags, Daly and Foster were all available in this range.

The pick isnt worthless, unless used to draft another Ed Gray, Cal Bowdler..etc. And don't forget, we got Josh Smith at 17.
