  1. 1st tiebreaker is H2H.. Unfortunately Miami is 3-1 against us this season and owns the tiebreaker. This is why that home loss against the Heat a few weeks ago when Wade/Whiteside/Bosh were out (and Deng went off for 30) really, really hurt.

We do own the H2H tiebreaker against Charlotte and likely will against Boston also.

  2. http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2015/6/28/8860285/draymond-green-atlanta-hawks-interest

In the days prior to the NBA's free agency period, the rumor mill continues to swirl. First, the Atlanta Hawks were linked as a potential landing spot for Portland Trail Blazers free agent power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, and now, another high-profile forward has been referenced with regard to the franchise.

Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports reports that Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is open to meeting with various franchises in pursuit of his services, and the Hawks are among the squads who are "expected to be among the teams interested".

    The Atlanta Hawks and
    Houston Rockets
are also expected to be among the teams interested in Green, a source said. The 2015 first all-NBA defensive team selection said he is open to face-to-face team visits with any serious free-agent opportunity, too.

It is very important to note that Green is a restricted free agent, meaning that the Warriors can match any offer that he could sign with another franchise. That barrier keeps the former Michigan State forward from being a realistic target for Atlanta (or any other NBA team), but it is always fun to speculate wildly about the Hawks and a high-impact player of Green's magnitude.

Unlike Aldridge, the Draymond Green rumors mean almost nothing, but in defense of this report, the Hawks would almost certainly be interested in adding him to the fold if permitted to do so. Alas, the CBA likely stands in the way.

  3. 2 things:

    1) I understand hawks fans will always preceive this differently but what exactly history of Delly is there? He wasn't known as a dirty player in college, wasn't known as a dirty player in the last 2 regular seasons. His rep has always been a hardworker, but its not like hes throwing elbows every time someone annoys him (hmm Howard), I would say having a "history" is a bit of a exaggeration.

    2) Lets be honest here, Al Horford ended TJ Ford's career on a very "questionable" foul. I get that the guy has been a model citizen since then, but if we're going with the standards that you guys are applying to Delly, Horford is no saint either.

Dellavedova WAS known during college by those that follow the WCC as a 'dirty' player, actually, in a similar context to how people are talking about him now. When you have Al Horford (model professional) retaliating, Kyle Korver (2015 NBA Sportsmanship Winner) not exactly receptive to an apology, and Taj Gibson (don't know much about him off-court) feeling the need to kick you, there's probably an issue. How many of these controversial incidents have there been in this playoffs? Probably 4 or 5, and Dellavedova has been involved in THREE of them. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire.

  4. Sap and Horford won't get significant raises. The only player I see getting a significant raise is Demarre Carroll. Hawks will resign him for 4 years at $7m per. Saps shooting shoulder will need surgery so no team will pay him generously at his age and current health. Horford hasn't done much performance wise to separate himself from the rest of his peers at his position. His performance isn't much of a game changer on a nightly basis. He's a good veteran third option. I still see a couple young players who outplay Al at a cheaper price. John Jenkins will be back because Kyle Korvers getting older. I think coach Bud tells him to work on his defense and handles during the off-season. The kid can shoot and shooter are hard to come by in the NBA.

    Demarre Carroll 4yr $28m

    Paul Millsap 3yr + 1yr p/o $44m

    Al Horford 4yr $56m

    John Jenkins 2yr $3.6m

    Hand down.. Man down..

ESPN says DMC will be commanding at least a 4yr/$50M contract this offseason. No way he'll sign with us for 4yr/$28M.

The Hawks desperately need toughness and a gamer - along the same lines of what Paul Pierce brought to the Wizards this season. I would love it if we found a way to bring Zaza back to Atlanta.

  5. Hawks should NOT HAVE tried scoring on that 5-on-4, up by 1 with only 5 or so seconds separating the shot and game clock. (When Mike Scott got rejected)

Mike played hard but in key moments, he was highly disappointing tonight.

  6. Anybody else feel like that was a dirty play by Delladova. He dives to grab the rebound secures it then decides to roll into Kyle's leg. I'm not sure if he was afraid Korver was going to tie him up and decided to roll to protect the ball, but it definitely didn't look like his momentum caused it. The Taj Gibson play makes me not want to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, I agree that it looked like a dirty play, and am surprised more people are not talking about it from that angle.

  7. With a game every other day for two weeks, the longer this series goes, it favors the Hawks. All sorts of Cavs are nursing minor injuries and with no time to recover between games, advantage to the relatively healthy Hawks. Maybe Coach Bud's constant (and controversial) resting of players in the regular season may have a big impact in this series.

  8. I was pro-fouling in that situation, especially when Wall's back was to the basket with around 5 seconds left. Wall likely would have tried making both free throws, and we had a timeout left where we could inbound it at half-court. Washington had used their LAST timeout setting up the play, so they would have to go the full-court in about 3 seconds to hit a game-tying 2 or 3.

Although if they had tried intentionally missing the second free throw, the prospect of having our undersized front-court needing to pull down a series-clinching defensive rebound is indeed a little daunting.

  9. Hawks looked way out of rhythm - anyone going to mention the afternoon start time? I think that might be a significant contributor.. NBA players are creatures of habit and the Hawks are NOT used to preparing for an afternoon game, much less on the road.

This was the third afternoon game of the season - first was the underwhelming win against the Pistons on MLK day, and the second was the whooping the Spurs gave us at home.

I fully expect the Hawks to look much better Monday night on a more standard cadence of just one days rest (plus with no travel).

  10. The Pacers are in as the No. 8 seed with a win over the Grizzlies tonight. The Nets are in with a win over the Magic AND a Pacers loss tonight. The Pacers go if both teams win or both teams lose.

Also, assuming Toronto beats Charlotte tonight at home - Chicago gets a 3rd seed if they beat us tonight, and the 4th seed if they lose.

  11.

Hawks resting the entire starting 5 - if John Wall does sit out, I hope Dennis is able to get 25+ against Sessions/Bynum.

  12. https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2015/4/8/8368887/chris-copeland-stabbed-hawks-arrested-pero-Antić-thabo-sefolosha

Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland was stabbed and his wife slashed by a knife in a New York City nightclub incident on Wednesday, according to a wild report by the New York Daily News. Two Atlanta Hawks -- Pero Antić andThabo Sefolosha -- were also reportedly arrested on charges of obstructing justice as a part of the incident.

The Pacers had been in New York preparing to play against Copeland's former team, theKnicks. The teams meet on Wednesday. The Hawks had beaten the Suns in Atlanta on Tuesday before flying to New York, where they'll face the Nets on Wednesday. Antić and Sefolosha could only have physically been in NYC for a couple hours before the apparent arrests.

A suspect in the stabbings was arrested, according to the Daily News. There's no word yet on the severity of injuries for Copeland and his wife nor whether Antić and Sefolosha remain in custody. The report cited anonymous sources who said the Hawks refused to move when cops were attempting to set up a crime scene.

  13. Huge run keeps me from having to pull my remote out of the TV.

Hope Teague's ankle doesn't swell up too much overnight.

It seems like when Al's jumper is falling, everything else on offense is smoother and falls into place. But he's really struggled the last few games. I wonder if he's hit a wall, fatigue-wise, from having only played 1 full season since 2011.
