Will be a top 5-6 player in the NBA some day?

I know we have a very young team, but I just flat out don't see a player on our team (even after drafting high for the last however many seasons) that is a Dwayne Wade/Dirk/Duncan type player.

Call me pessimistic, but I just can't see any of our guys being one of the top players in the NBA...Smoove and Marvin are the only two that even possess that potential, but I don't really see either of them panning out to that level.

Opinions?

Well if "smooth" doesn't work for you, how about "refined offensive game". LA has better offensive potential in the NBA than Shelden. He's got a beautiful mid-range jumper, a solid post-up game, and he moves up and down the floor VERY well (that's where the athleticism comes in).

On the defensive end, Shelden might have been the better college defensive player, but I think once LA puts on about 15 lbs., he will be one of the better defensive PF's in the league within a few years.

Or would you rather we pick up a true PF in the draft?

I was actually kinda surprised to hear that Al might want to come back...but I still think I'd rather use the #5 pick on a PF we can develop.

I think just about anyone will agree that LA has more superstar potential in the NBA.

He's a better athlete and plays with much more "smoothness" than Shelden, particularly on the offensive end.

I respect the guy as a college player, but I don't think he'll be nearly as good in the pros as someone like Lamarcus Aldridge.

I've even seen some people on here say that we should take Shelden over LA... .

Great college player...I'm not convinced he's worthy of a top 5 or even top 10 pick.

Are we gonna be stuck with Ivey/Stoudamire again?

I think Al, and our #5 pick would get him though.

Think about some other teams that have made trades of this proportion...The heat with Shaq is working out well...the Pistons with Rasheed also.

Sometimes a superstar just needs a change of scenery...I would welcome Iverson with open arms.

Please do not compare Marbury to Iverson...you are REALLY reaching with that comparison.

Hahaha...this is literally what I have been saying for the past year on the Falcons message boards...everyone on there gave me crap for not wanting us to draft MW either. I was one of the few that wanted Chris Paul from the beginning.

Foye doesn't have as high of assist #'s doesn't mean that their style of play can't be similar. Height and weight are NOT the only things they have in common. They have similar ball-handling skills, and to me at least, they seem to "move" in the same way...both very solid players.

I wouldn't mind having Foye, but obviously would prefer a better player.

Just because Foye didn't start playing well til later in his career, that doens't mean that he can't be a solid NBA player.

I would say that is the best word to describe him..."solid"...that is how I think of Chauncey, Foye might never be THAT good, but their playing style is VERY similar.

I would absolutely rather pick Lamarcus at 5, but I think you are selling Foye a little short...

He reminds me A LOT of a young Chauncey Billups...I wouldn't complain if Foye turned out like him.

Trade Harrington instead of any of our young guys. I wouldn't be opposed to sending Harrington and our #5 for Iverson straight up.

I think a lot of people would be opposed to Iverson here because people are under the impression he is a ballhog and will stun the development of our young players, but I really think he could put us into the playoffs. The guy still gets 8 assists per game...great player.

I like that line-up, but I don't think we have a "distributer" in there...JJ has never really given the vibe to me that he CAN play PG...I don't feel like that line-up has much flexibility.

It'd be hard to argue with a line-up that talented though...

Do yall think he is going to end up being a PF? I know that is how he was projected when we drafted him, and he certainly plays defense like one, but his offensive game seems a whole lot more like a SG/SF to me.

Same question for Marvin Williams as well...I hope he does turn into a star PF...but he is not very good at posting up, IMO.

If we do stick at 5, would you rather have Bargiani (sp?), Aldridge, Thomas, or that PG out of UConn. I know most or all of those players will be gone by 5 and apparently Billy Knight isn't too impressed with Williams...to be honest, I wouldn't be completely against us taking Foye...him and JJ could make a nice backcourt.
