  1. From an ESPN article about tanking

I took a date from seasons between 1991-2010 and find that there is an 88 percent correlation between a team’s rank after 30 games and their rank at the end of the season (with the average team moving three places in the ranking). If you wait until after the 60th game, the correlation increases to 97 percent (with the average team moving 1.5 places in the ranking).

Looking at the Nets needs about 4 games to have an idea of where they'll be and 34 to know for certain.

  2. Bebe is absolutely the key to our off season. He needs to be able to come back from that tendonitis.

If we can't get Parker or Wiggins then we should look at a center IMO. Embiid or Cauley-Stein seem like the best idea for where we may end up. We'd have an amazing front court rotation of Horford, Milsap, Bebe, Embiid/Cauley-Stein plus Ayón and Antić (if picked up). Add that to the rest of our roster and we can easily lure a SF or SG here to start in place of DeMarre.

  3. I have to actually catch myself now being TOO giddy about this. Wondering how bad Brooklyn will actually be. Wondering how many ping pong balls they'll end up. Which player will walk into a great situation of a playoff team with a high pick. And the fact that media (followed by fair weather fans) will pay attention and we'll have the team we've always wanted.

But can you be too giddy about it and jinx it?

  4. I know we only have a limited sample size, but looking at the way Ferry and Budenholzer handle the roster is LIGHT YEARS beyond anything we've seen in Atlanta before. This may be the first truly competent management this team has had.

But let's ignore the space-time continuum for a minute and pose the question: What other Hawks would have enjoyed a better career under Ferry and/or Budenholzer?

    Coaches: Fratello and Wilkins.

The 1985 Draft ALONE stands to show how bad these coaches had it when it came to the GM evaluating talent.

Players: I think the following would have absolutely thrived under this new system.

    Post-ACL Nique,

    Doc Rivers

    Spud Web

    Laettner

    Kukoc

    Mutumbo

    Steve Smith

    Mookie Blaylock

    Mario West

    Acie Law

    Josh Childress

    Matt Freiji

    Hanno Mattolo

    Salim Stoudamire

    Jason Terry

Anyone agree with that? That seems like the list of smarter and unselfish players that we've had.

  5. Took my date to last night's game. We decided not to do Red but went to Abattoir after. Seemed less hokey than Red.

Anyhow, we walked into the arena and she immediately says "Didn't Rudy Gay just get traded to the Kings?" I found a woman who loves the NBA y'all. The only downside was the Kings fans behind us. They kept yelling "Boooogggieeee" whenever Cousins had the ball. Damn Bill Simmons fans ruining the ambiance.

  6. I'll probably stick to some other place on the West Side for dinner (Bocado, Ormsby's, Yeah Burger!, Antico) for dinner as the reviews and menu don't really stand out. Max's Pizzaria, Rise and Stats are close, but at that point you're walking to the Arena and its too cold for that.

CoachX, does your wife like the Hawks or just being at games. I happened to luck in to a 5'11 college professor who loves the NBA although she's a Celtic's fan.
