  1. He's wealthy, no doubt. I just hope he invests the money needed to make this franchise successful, billionaire or not. The last thing this team needs is a penny-pinching owner.I wonder if there were no local prospective buyers? I wish Sam Cathy, who owns Chick-Fil-A, bought the franchise. Think of the marketing opportunities they could have done with the Hawks and chicken sandwiches.
  2. I read that his net worth is 14.5 bilion.......... wow :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:

I doubt it. I don't see his name in the Forbes 400 wealthiest Americans, where the list starts at $1 billion. So it doesn't look like he's a billionaire. If it was $14.5 billion, then he'd be one of top 50 wealthiest people in the world, which would be great for the team, but sadly this isn't the case.
  3. 'm beginning to believe that the Hawks will be sold to one of these big investors. According to the AJC there are 3 groups looking to buy the Hawks, Thrashers and the operating rights to Phillips. Two of them are groups, and one is a single guy. The guy is from Atlanta and wants to keep all the teams in the city.

Is there a link/source to this? I haven't heard any recent news concerning potential new owners.

  4. It looks like Josh is rearing back to punch Joe, and Joe is telling him, "I see what you're going to do, boy." And Al is like, "no man, what are you talking about? He's not going to punch you. Guys, stop it." And Jamal is appreciating Zaz- er, Diesel's newfound love for Marvin.

  5. Am I the only one who feels the same way? It's Wade, It's Bosh and it's Minimum salary guys.

I feel like having far more depth than that team would be highly in our favor over the course of a season as well as in head to head matchup.

Now of course if they sign LeBron that's a different story. With a trio that overwhelming, who needs a bench? But with just the two, Im not as intimidated.

Hmmm, I remember hearing this same song a few years ago. What was it again? Ah, yes, I remember.

"KG and Ray Allen going to Boston doesn't scare me. It's just three really good players and nothing else! No bench, no depth, a coach who hasn't won anything. Pfff, K.G. will never get his ring."

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

  6. So, the Cavs, having HCA two years in a row and possessing the MVP two years in a row, can't even make it to the Finals?

    BWAHAHAHAAHAHHA. Queen James, indeed. :lol6: :lol6: :lol6:

  7. I usually read Hawksquawk a lot more than I post. I just wanna mention some of my favorite posters. I tend to agree with these posters the most and after reading their posts, I actually feel like I either have the same ideas as they do, or if their ideas are different, they actually make me see things from a different point of view. No knock on anyone not mentioned..In no particular order:

    Sothron

    Niremetal

  8. This has to be the worst game of his career, or is it?

Perusing Bibby's game log, he had a 0/1/1 night against the Spurs in January. Surprise surprise, that was a loss too.

He's laid several eggs throughout the year, most of them losses. Stating the obvious at this point, but we'd be a much better team if we had a pg who could defend and average more than 2 rebs. a game.

  9. Anyone going to the game this Friday against Boston? I'll be there with a buddy, screaming profanities at the refs, KG, Pierce, Rondo, the Boston idiot fanbase, and Perkin's ugly mug. All from my seat in the 200's!

My body aches for an Atlanta win against the Boston Geriatrics.

  10. Smith was fouled on that drive in the video posted above, with Lebron smacking/grabbing his forearm.

I think I'm going to step away from watching the NBA for a while. The superstar treatment, the consistently bad officiating - it's mind-boggling how biased and poorly-run this league is. How hard is it to call things down the middle? How hard is it to notice a shot-clock foul up? Why does Lebron or Wade get free trips to the line when a pinky graces the hair on their forearms?

The NFL and MLB, while not perfect either, are infinitely more watchable than the NBA at this point. The NBA won't be getting my viewership any longer. I'll still support the Hawks a 100%, but at this point it feels like a losing battle.

  11. Yeah. Don't think I'll be watching tomorrow. My head hurts from tonight's game, don't want to make myself go through that again tomorrow night.

But on a completely unrelated note, I just discovered the Hawksquawk "Classics" forum. I'm having a ball reading all the epic sh*tstorms in there.

  12. Why are other dudes so concerned with what other dudes have to say?

And why are you so concerned with that? Why do you care what other people think of others? Last time I checked, this is a message board, if someone is vomited their self-loathing pessimism all over the board, then others should feel free to respond to it. Take your own advice, if you don't like it when someone responds to another's comments, then ignore it.

  13. You got to win some back to backs. Those have been absent so far this season it seems like. Which of course really helped to feed the winning streak.

    Is your memory that bad?

Portland-Sacremento back to back. We won both.

Boston-New Orleans back to back. We won both.

So no, they haven't been "absent."

  14. Only saw the tail-end of the game, which was awesome of course. But looking at the boxscore, Joe played 45 minutes? C'mon Woodman, use your bench. Are you trying to burn out Joe already? Whatever happened to giving Joe a bit more rest?
