The East has two good teams - Boston and Detroit are the only ones that can compete with the top teams in the west. Only 3 east teams would make the playoffs in the West if the season ended today. The West has 5 or 6 really strong teams.

Don't count the Hawks out yet... They have a 7-4 against the West cool.gif

  2. I was at the game tonight sitting at section 118 row J. Well, Chad Johnson and D Hall were sitting across from the Hawks bench in the prem sets.

I saw Melo talking trash to one of those guys about 4 times right after he made a shot. To those who watched it on TV, who was Melo yaping at Chad or D Hall???

The Marv travel, the Joe over and back, the Smoove steal, the all hand " block" on Marv by Stvenson. Should I go on?

I hate to say it but until JJ gets voted into the All-Star (by the fans) he will not get the calls. The one thing I wish he would do more is take over games. Josh Smith and Marvin seems to have more heart then JJ.

It's funny the other day on radio, 680 The Fan, they asked Al about the leadership in the locker. He named M-Williams, Lo ans Smoove. He did not say JJ's name.

    Hadn't seen this posted yet.

We have to replay the end of that Miami game before our next game with them with 53 seconds left and us up by 3.

Miami won the protest of Shaq being called out on fouls... even though he likely won't play in the next one due to being fat and out of shape.

They are about to start a fire. Can we get the point that they did not give to up from the Lue 3pt. It was clearly the Ref fought, because Lue was behind the 3Pt line and they only gave us 2pts. I could help our stats wink.gif

Me too. I'd just hate to give up a 21 year old Marvin for him. I would trade Chills / ZaZa or Shelden for him all day long.

Is JJ Redick available ? He is waisting away in Orlando.

Shelden for Redick ? A Duke guy for a Duke guy ? Shelden may fit really well next to Howard. He would definately give them more beef and toughness then Turk or Lewis trying to play PF.

That is the thing. You guys are the ones who thing you are playing "Playstation."

Dale is a "CENTER" which are "RARE" to come by. So, we will have to give a good player to get him. Philly is not going to give a guy like that away for peanuts.

Now a SWING MAN THAT SHOOTS 3s are not that hard to find. That's why a guy like JJ Redick is riding the pine.

I keep reading that "it would hurt Josh Smith." Well, right now Big Al, at his age, is playing better. He is what I would say is the one guy we can depend on night after night... BUT, if we do not find a center we will Mos Def hurt his growth. The guy has shown us that he has the "POTENTIAL." Out of all our young guys Al has shown us more in his short time. If we keep putting him out of place at C it is going to hurt him. If he goes down, we go. This is why we need a Dale.

That outside shooting we got in Salim, Lue or Chille. We just need to play the hot man. We really do not have a guy like Al who can play down low.

And don't worry if they miss, Big Al, J-Smoove and Dale will be there to get the rebound.

DANG, JUST THING WE WOULD HAVE ONE OF THE BEST FRONT COURT. headbang.gif

Which would you rather give up Smoove or M-Williams? One will be gone.

I wouldn't trade Marvin right now. He is our ONLY reliable jump shooter. Take that out of the mix and we are in trouble whenever we run a half court offense.

    I agree.

Horford and Smith seem to be holding down the paint just fine. Consistent perimeter shooting is our weakness, not interior defense. I don't see Dalembert giving us hardly anything we are not already geting. Dalembert is a better shot blocker then Horford but it would all equal out with the blocked shots Smith would lose by having to guard SFs on the perimeter instead of alwayse being in the paint where he is 2nd in the league in BPG.

Trading our only shooter to play off JJ for more of what we already got does not make sense from a chemistry stand point to me.

Interior defense is not our problem right now...shooting & interior post scoring, (not just slashing), are the fixes we need and Dalembert, though very skilled defensively, provides neither.

We need a big man too, but I think we need ONE inside scorer more then ANOTHER inside defender. We will probably get neither. If Lue would start hitting some jumpers or Law was given some PT to grow we may be better off then we thought in that area.

Moving J-Smith to SF would not hurt his block shots. Most of those blocks come from the weak side. I understand about the outside shooting but guys we can't hold on to this line-up forever. We have a lot of young talent and we do not want to let them go. To get that C or PG we are going to have to let go some of this young talent. If we could sucker the 76ers into taking Shelden, Speedy and Salim I would be all for it but that is not going to happen.

I think by the trade deadline or next year Marvin or J-Smith will be gone. I know most of you may want to see J-Chill gone but I just do not see that happening. He is our best 6th man. Just like Cs and PGs... a good 6th man is hard to come by.

Dalembert is the 3rd ranked C in the East, 11th overall up to this date / this year.

Yeah, I do understand that. This is also why I do not understand why Salim doesn't get much playing time.

    Is he really hurt?

I would love to see the Hawks go after Samuel Dalembert. Maybe package M-Williams with Lorenzen Wright, Salim Stoudamire or Solomon Jones.

Marvin Williams + anyone for Dalembert??????

That's a lopsided deal if I've ever seen one. Dally's defense and rebounds are great, but his salary offsets that a great deal. There's no way I'd give them Marvin for Dally.

M-Williams with Lorenzen Wright, and Salim Stoudamire for Dale and a 1st rd would workout. The 2 hardest thing to find in this league are C and PG. Dale is good young C. Right Now he is top 6th in the East. I would take that.

  9. Trade Rumors

    Quote:

If there is one NBA team the Knicks should be engaging in frequent discussions with, it is the Philadelphia 76ers.
New president Ed Stefanski already has made one deal and he'll be itching to do more between now and the deadline as he makes his own imprint on a roster that will afford him the most cap room in the league next summer. The prime candidates to be dealt are Andre Miller, Sam Dalembert, and Rodney Carney.
Miller has been on the Cavs' radar screen, and as a mediocre defender with $10 million coming to him next season, Miller should only be a consideration if the Knicks somehow can put together some semblance of a run at the eighth playoff spot by mid-February. Fat chance; they're already eight back in the loss column, so Miller isn't the answer. Dalembert is intriguing from the standpoint that Stefanski is looking to clear cap space, and his defense and shot blocking would be the ideal complement to either Zach Randolph or Eddy Curry. -- Newsday

With all this trade talk, why do we not hear the Hawks’ name? (well, that Gasol trade talk has been going on for 2 years now).

I would love to see the Hawks go after Samuel Dalembert. Maybe package M-Williams with Lorenzen Wright, Salim Stoudamire or Solomon Jones.

Dalembert is one of the young up and coming C in the league. We could put Al at the PF and Smith at the SF. I know that maybe a problem being that Smith is not that good at jumpers. We maybe able to solve that problem later once we get a good PG. lol

IF YOU SAW MARIO TONIGHT, HE WAS FRUSTRATING EVERYONE HE WAS GUARDING. AND THAT INCLUDES JASON KIDD AND VINCE CARTER.

SHELDEN, LEARN TO MAKE A DAMN SHOT

JOE, QUIT WHINING AND BE A LEADER FOR ONCE

SMOOVE, DON'T TAKE ANY PERIMETER SHOTS...KEEP DRIVING THE BALL--YOU'RE DOING A NICE JOB

    MARVIN, SHOOT MORE

    ACIE, KEEP ATTACKING THE BASKET

BK, MAKE A DAMN TRADE AND GET US INTERIOR DEFENSE. SHELDEN IS THE WORST PLAYER IN THE NBA AT STOPPING A DRIVING PLAYER. HE IS ONLY GOOD FOR MANNING UP A POST PLAYER

You are joking right??? Joe being a whinner??? Man I wish jj was a whinner.

Hawks coach Mike Woodson spent a considerable amount of time in the second half bickering with the game officials over a discrepancy in second-half free-throw attempts that favored the Nets to the tune of a 23-7 advantage with just over five minutes to play.

And the chatter was hardly one-sided, as the officials that engaged Woodson returned as much verbal fire as they received. But it was Hawks forward Marvin Williams that got the technical for arguing with the officials.

He got one with 4:48 to play, after he fouled out.
Joe Johnson followed him 24 seconds later when he picked up his sixth foul but didn't say a word as he walked to the bench.

I did not get to see the game but please tell me that JJ gave the refs something to call a foul for. The refs refuse to give us calls. I hope we gave them some tech-fouls slap.gif

  12. Man I tell you this is getting hard to stand by this team. I have heard people talking trash about this team and time after time I have said, this team will make the turn around. Then it was the five game winning streak and all you heard from those games when reading the news paper, web or watching ESPN... "The Hawks have not done this for over 8 YEARS." I'm saying, "man, do they have to say that after every game?

This 4 game losing streak makes you say wtf!!! All these trade romors going around... I would love to hear our team name in some of them... because this itsh, something needs to be done with this team. It came be a lineup change, trade or I'm down with a firing of anyone! SHOW US FRONT OFFICE THAT YOU WANT TO HAVE A WINNING ORGANIZATION!

  13. ...Mike Conley has just been promoted to the starting lineup. Stoudamire is coming off the bench now.

    On Jan, 2nd he played 35 minutes, 7pts, 6rebs, and 8ast.

I can here the fans calling out Law if he doesn't step up his game. Other then the Dallas game he seems to play a little scared. I wish he would shoot more.

  14. I have been watching on messageboard after messageboard, Suns fans talking trash about our team after that JJ trade went down. I have been taking it. I have been telling them that the draft pick would not help them as being a top 10 pick. It is finally coming to the light. Now I'm having a little fun thinking them for the trade that have turned around our team.

They think Hawks fans don't live. Well, I thinks it's time to show them we are no longer the door mat of the NBA.

Say it loud! "I'M A HAWK AND I'M PROUD!!!" headbang.gif

  15. That trade for JJ makes Billy the genus of the year! LOL

We got JJ for Diaw (who Suns fans want off their team) and maybe the 17th pick. We are currently the 8 best team in the NBA, which put us with the 23rd pick.

    To the Suns' GM uglyhammer.gif

Woody and Billy could soon be eating free any where in the ATL bannana_guitar.gif

  16. I hope I'm wrong and we win more but I see us winning the game we are favorite and will lose the others. This team still have not shown me enough when it comes to showing up for the big games. Dallas and the Suns were good games. To me we do not dictate the tempo. We let other teams dictate the tempo. The reason why we won the Dallas and Suns game is because they play up tempo games. That is our strength. If we play a team like Detroit... they play a slower tempo and in games like that is when we need to learn how to turn the tempo up but we don't.

Al Horford does tons of thing I love, and his being playful about Ref's calls is just one of them.

The dude genuninely looks like he's having a great time out there. Very, very refreshing.

Have anyone notice him pointing at the opp. team play who just got slammed on by Josh, or Marvin? That is so funny to see him do that. Horford puts one hand over his mouth and points his finger at the player. I have seen him do this about three times. lol
