What now?
#1 - nobody here knows if Ferry is done
#2 - even if he does leave, that doesn't mean we can grade draft picks who haven't even remotely gotten enough playing time to judge
It will be a couple more years before we can really judge these first 2 years on the job.
1) Ferry is gone until not and most recognise that he's toast. Burnt. Seen him lately? Meanwhile, his/our deficient team is out there exposing their mediocre and we're without a defacto GM.
2) Tired of this lame can't judge picks for years. Maybe you can't but I think talent shows and few break out after disappointing

Got to get a good pick to get a star

last year the offer was better for the Hawks. We seem to be the place where good players spend a frustrating part of their career not winning and losing trade value
-
Now that Ferry's time with the team is apparantly over, seems like we can now look at the body of work and judge.
2+ years, a scandalous exit and a very mediocre team. Worse record wise. Only positive is he saved ASG money and brought in Bud.

Not tanking when Horf went down.
-
My thing is you don't trade a pretty good everyday player (especially one with some exceptional talent) for a pretty good pitcher. How much impact is that pretty good pitcher going to have in his 30 games versus the guy who saving you runs in the outfield every day.
You're right, but he sied short and wants big money. I thought he would be the best of thr young guys
Didn't work out
It's on him and the team. Injuries didn't help
-
I would be more excited about a non winning team if it had some young lottery in it.
-
Why we should have tanked last season when our best player went down for the season
-
mediocre is as mediocre does. You want better you have to build better. Palaces in the sky won't win crap
Everyone on the board should have seen the mediocre Ferry built. They'd rather police rational analysis than look reality in the face
-
Heyward wouldn't sign a reasonable long deal. That signaled his exit. The deal is OK. Nice young starter on a good contract. Heyward has under performed plus the injuries. Hate to lose the young loczl guy though
-
That's one. Heyward was gone when he re-upped short. Got a nice young starter

We tried by offering more money than his current team. He wasn't interested.
Wonder why he wouldnt take our better offer?

Looks like mediocre...smells like mediocre... What year will we escape mediocrity?

too early. Got to let iy develop. Of course Schro playing up to or past JT would create flexibility. All else even you keep the rook contract
-
I agree that moves need to be made. I want a good C next.to Horf. Gladly give up Sap for a few on your list.
We also def need athletic talent on the wing.

Al Jeff
Al Hord
DMC
Lance Steph
JT... and a strong bench.
The team Ferry coulda/shoulda built

Worst playoff team in 2013 with a very predictable first round exit. One of the worst offseasons in the league and our Front office and ownership are in disgrace. What did you expect? Oh and rebouding and interieur play have be Hawk weaknesses since Deke. Yet Ferry does little xept get in trouble smearing the franchise and some here say he is oir best GM ever.
-
Most rate us 15-20. I guess they're under-rating. I'm looking for 50 min wins and a second round at least. Still light on talent but great coaching and team make-up
-
Tough to have holes. One side of the court players create liability. You hope they're worth it on the other end. Better teams know how to take advantage of holes on either end of the court.
Carroll/Thabo are not going to be very productive starters. The team ball has to cover some of our holes
-
Interesting that some teams showed without having looked into the consequences
-
Looks like the begining of another season with a team that doesnt look like a championship contender. Hope this "team based, hoping to land a star" works. Don t like to start seasons with teams that don t look like contenders
-
What I'd be happy with and what is going to happen will likely be two different things. Do you think we re gonna win a championship?
-
These same arguments are argued every year. At the end of the year we'll finish with 40 something wins a first or second round exit and next off-season we' ll see the same arguments and similar results. Some seem to accept that and if we win a few more games, they'll cite the progress and talk about next year...etc...
If you want to win you play to win. Mediocre is just saying OK you da boss, I'm happy being 14th.
Don't give a dam who the GM is as long as he/she is playing to win.
Also would rather root homegrown to a championship. Draft talent.
Labeling someone a hater and using it as an arguement is the weakest crap on the board, right after homerism.
Here's to the Hawks winning at least 50 and surprising in the playoffs. No championship, but hey it's the Hawks.

Over grading the work of Ferry.

The proof is in the results. We are not a contender. Ferry has officially been away from the Hawks for months and chances are we will not see him again.
I find it funny that onwership, management and on court results are desperate to bad but the pom pom girls police here keeps trying to shoot down any POV that isn't Hawks patriotic.
A fan should want expect their team to win. Our team has been built mediocre and Ferry has done nothing but mediocre as far as talent. And he has managed to get himself exiled from his GM duties.
GREAT JOB. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
