This is what I don't understand. The asking price (as reported) was Deng, Gordon, and the NY pick that the Bulls owned.
Lets say the Bulls made that trade - who are they left with?
Hinrich, SG?, Nocioni, Gasol, Wallace.
That team isn't going anywhere - and they have no one to play SG. Paxson made the right move IMO. Gasol isn't worth that - especialy when Deng is putting up similar numbers and you are losing Gordons 22ppg.
Having Gasol in the post would be great - but not if you have to trade away all of your shooters (who would benefit from Gasols presence) to get him.
The Wallace signing is debatable - depends on if he comes to play this season. At least the contract is declining, and ends the same year Lebron, Wade, Bosh all become FA's.
The Chandler signing was probably a mistake - but Chandler had earned that contract 2004/2005 - then pissed it all away by not doing a damn thing to prepare for the 2005/2006 season. I don't blame Pax for dumping his ass - Chandler was the last link to the "Baby Bulls" and wasn't willing to put in the work the other players on the team were already doing.

Gordon was drafted in 2004 - Wade and Bosh were in the 2003 draft.
Chicago had the 7th pick in the 2003 draft and chose Kirk Hinrich (J Williams had just finished his run as SuperDave by crashing his bike and ending his career)
Paxson tried to trade up to 4 to draft Wade (a hometown product) but couldn't get a deal worked out.

Good idea. If I had to choose I'd probably take Jordan (I know, big shock) He was the biggest prick of his time but he was also a winner. No one hated to lose more than he did.
Bill Russell makes it a tough choice, but I'd take Jordan.

Orlando salary is at 39million before the Lewis signing. They would have had to renounce Darko to fit Lewis with his new uber contract under the salary cap.

He was a FA because he made himself draft eligible and went undrafted. Just like if a senior enters the draft and becomes a FA if he isn't drafted.
Morris was a unique situation in that he was an underclassmen who stayed in the draft and was undrafted. There is talk of closing that loop hole, but it is still wide open right now.

Morris went undrafted in the 2005 draft (he never signed with an Agent) - making him a FA. He wisely chose to return to school (he had to pay back whatever benefits he got during the draft process.
The whole time he played at Kentucky last season he was a NBA free agent. He could have left at any time and signed with an NBA team.
He finished his season at Kentucky and signed with New York.

Childress per 40 numbers have held steady at 13.5 & 7 each of his three seasons. Dengs have been at 19 & 7.7

Deng is the better scorer - although Childress clearly has the better 3 point shot. I'd give the Chidress the edge on defense although it is alot closer than many here might believe.
Any metric you might want to use - including eyeball - have Deng on top.
Like I said - I am not going to speak to whether Iggy ranks or not - but Deng is clearly the better player between th two.

Deng avg 26/9/3 against Miami in the first round, and 20/9/2 against Detroit where he was basically playing 1 on 5.

He did. In the 91-92 season. He came back the next season and averaged 30 & 7.
