  1. Supes.  Interesting you couldn’t get any ownership feedback.  I’m trying to envision who is making trade phone calls around the league, is it Landry Fields along with Ressler Jr?

Schlenk was a wizard evaluating talent coming from his videotaping days in Golden State and drafting Curry.  Who the hell is scouting for the Hawks?  March madness is coming around.  I won’t sweat it, I have a feeling this new leadership regime will trade all our draft picks by this years trade deadline and we won’t have any 1st round picks for 5 years.  Spurs are laughing at us with our dysfunctional leadership and hoping the Hawks ‘25, ‘26, ‘27 are top 5 in the draft and Spurs reap the benefits.

MLB players have heard about the Atlanta Braves being a well run and respected organization.

It’s a crying shame that the Atlanta Hawks are a stark contrast to the Atlanta Braves.  I personally thought Schlenk kicked ass when he came onboard and unglued the Joe Johnson cap situation, Taurean Prince trade, and drafted well.  If Ressler’s 27 year old son has the guts to relieve Schlenk, we are all watching his next move.  His name is broadcasted live in front of all Hawks fans, and he better deliver.  I don’t care about age but he better know what he’s doing or we’ll start requesting for the Ressler family to get out of ATL.

  3. We need a legit coach.  Too much talent on this team.

Remember when Shaq played for the Lakers and he wanted a real coach.  Shaq visited Phil Jackson’s lake house and swam across the the middle of the lake for a damn wooden log.  Phil Jackson wanted Shaq to know that he will need to work his tail off if he wanted Phil to be his coach.  We need a coach to inspire Young, and someone who can fix our offense.

Or we can be the picture of BK and the old ownership.  All started with the Kevin Huerter trade.  The next 1-2 Hawk’s moves will dictate a fire sale.  The time is ticking for our new GM.  Make it right ownership.

When Travis became GM,  the team philosophy was clear,  turn the Hawks into Golden State East.  That meant a point guard with a who could stretch the floor and play defense, a 2 guard who can stretch the floor and play defense, and wings who could defend.   Travis is either didn't draft the right players for that, he hired the wrong coach or he isn't the right GM the Hawks should have gotten from Golden State.

Travis isn't gonna fire himself, so the first step is to step back and ask if thats the blue print he wants to continue with.  The players the Hawks have been linked to are all over the place.  To stay with the Golden State philosophy its clear the Hawks either have to upgrade shooting guard and get a wing defender.  This talk about Ayton and Gobert don't make sense.  I like Bogi but dude isn't consistent enough and don't play defense.  Young obvious is allergic to defense, that means the pressure is on either outscoring opponents or having wing defense to cover the backcourt.  Simmons, Irving, Levine, etc. are the type of players they need to concentrate on.  Bringing Ayton or Gobert into the fold is just replacing Capela and is not the answer.

When Travis Schlenk was with the Warriors, was he responsible for drafting Curry, Thompson, and Draymond Green?  If so, this GM blue print works in making consecutive dances to the NBA Finals.  Pass, dribble, shoot.

Will the Hawks new trio of Trae, Ayton, and Levine fit this GM philosophy and win a championship?  If so, I personally would love to have a bad boy in the mix to help change the culture in a PJ Tucker/Charles Oakley/Draymond type mold.  Stand up for your teammates and check your teammates when times are tough.  With our current roster, we’re too soft.  We need a thumper.

  5. In Schlenk I trust, but my initial Cam Reddish reaction makes me vomit inside; however, we have to think the bigger picture and Schlenks trade history.  We have to wait and see what evolves from this initial trade.

Hoping for Sabonis, Simmons, or Ingram combo.

Less than 30 days waiting patiently for the big trade. His job is on the line as he committed to big contracts last summer and we are not performing.  Schlenks a risk taker and honestly excited what transpires next so the Hawks can get back into the playoffs.

the best trades a general manager can make are those that help in both the short term and the long term. That’s what Schlenk accomplished two weeks before the 2019 draft by sending Prince to Brooklyn -- a move that cleared minutes for De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish on the wing, relieved Atlanta from having to pay Prince’s next contract, and netted draft capital that would be used in later trades.

With Prince’s rookie contract set to expire this offseason, the Hawks risked losing Prince for nothing or overpaying to keep him around in restricted free agency. Instead, they received an asset for a player they likely weren’t excited about paying, then used that asset to acquire a potential tentpole -- Clint Capela

  6. Could we aim for D. Rose as Traes backup PG?  Positives:  Playoff experience, scoring and playmaker, limited minutes due to his age but keeps his body fresh as Trae will soak up the minutes.  After playing NY in the playoffs, D.Rose was gassed.  He wants a ring and I think signing with ATL brings him this opportunity while still earning minutes.

Hawks GM has been money with draft picks so I’m assuming he’ll take the best PG available for future grooming

  7. Great season.  I’m glad to have witnessed the birth of a great young team in the making.

I honestly felt a comeback in the 4th quarter because I truly believed in these Hawks.

This summer will be interesting and questions to ponder:

    1.  John Collins is not a max contract player.  If he still believe in this, match and trade him for a big that can rebound.  Maybe throw in Huerter and this years first round pick.  After this playoff push, I wonder how many NBA Superstars want to pair up with Trae Young

If Gallo can’t make his 3’s, bench him.  If he dances 2-3 steps before taking his shot, bench him.  He needs to be decisive.

We paid him premium money to show up in the playoffs.  We need our return on investment.

Denver has a lot of interest in JC but Atlanta only has one want from Denver and they have been reluctant to move that said player. If MPJ becomes available, watch out. MPJ is someone they been wanting to move for Beal lack of willingness to be traded and WAS lack of willingness to trade him is real.

If there is a deal out there that could happen with JC, watch for this. It seems like all of the other deals just aren't close for most of our Hawk players.

Other than this one, I would be shocked if the Hawks make a move. They will ride with what they got otherwise.

Supes... I recall Michael Porter Jr slipping on draft night due to his back injury.  I thought his family had a history of injury history.  It’s taken him a few years to heal up but do you think it’s worth the gamble to trade for injury prone MPJ?

  10. Nuking the details.  Sign JC to whatever Schlenk deems feasible.

Schlenk found value for JC (#19 pick) + package players/pick and flip for a superstar.

A superstar coming to ATL...that would be the ultimate GM master planning to pair with Trae.  Bet!

  11. Mid season, an unknown Hawks Office source said help is coming.

    What is the plan?

    - Draft day.  Pick at #6 Or trade down to #9-#14 with a veteran attachment (bolster bench).

    - Free agency.  Sign one year contracts (solid bench fillers) and scheme for next years strong free agency class.

Is the intent this offseason to be playoff bound (sign one year veterans) and truly save enough cap space for next years top free agents?

It makes no sense to sign long term mid tier free agents this year and handicap our flexibility for next years crop of free agents.  I feel teams will get desperate this offseason because they want to position themselves in next years free agency.  Yet we want to look competitive and appealing  to have free agents sign with us.  I say we go big on next years top free agents, the city of Atlanta needs a superstar to go along with Trae Young.

If we can get to the playoffs without breaking the bank, Trae Young and company will put on a show, and next years free agency will take notice.  Just look at what Doncic is doing in this years playoffs.  I know Trae is screaming to have his playoff opportunity and show the world that he can carry his team.  He needs help.

  12. Atlanta Hawks more assertive in Free Agency!

Who is Schlenk referring to regarding trading for a 25year old coming out of a 1st contract?

    Karl Anthony Towns

    Porzingus

    Booker

    D. Mitchell
