He might have shot lower than 20%. Not joking. He went scoreless his last game with I don't know how many shot attempts. He was shooting like 27% going into that game IIRC.

He averaged 17.0 points, 6.8 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 25.8 minutes on 38.3% FG and 38.7% in Vegas. Better then Steph who came in After his junior year. Steph did not play in Utah

I wouldn't say that. He finally looked solid today. He needs better shot selection, and he needs to work on a floater.

His shot selection is not that bad. The deep threes he makes normally at a respectable clip forcing opponents to pick him up soon as he crosses the three point line. Watch his highlights often you will see three plus players above the three point line. This will opens alot of space/driving lanes, for himself and his teammates.

So the Basketball Messiah only managed 3-16 shooting for 10 points and six turnovers. Every other Hawks site let alone NBA site has been calling him out for being hot garbage. We have threads on this forum about not playing him at all now to protect his confidence going forwards. Smh.

I'm just gonna keep watching all of these games with this kid like this:

How much does a rebuild get set back when you whiff hard on your first top three draft pick?

Man your comments are so over the top.

In three summer league games you have decided he is a bust. Oh wait you said you saw his college games were your clairvoyance led you prophesies his failure in the NBA.

Please look at his college games where you said he struggled and note the number of defenders on him sometimes two sometimes three or even four. He was often picked up full court like the WV game or Alabama Game. That is called gravity and that is a good thing. Even then , he made the right play and found open teammates. He left his mark all over the game. Like a true playmaker.

Now , I presume you think he is a bust because of his atrocious field goal percentage in SL. Please watch or rewatch the games objectively, you will see alot of missed shots are open threes or point blank floaters in the lane. Do you think someone with his range and shooting percentages in AAU and college all of a sudden forgot how to shoot or you think he is just in a slump from the tremendous pressure heaved upon him.

Also note in the SL games his playmaking has been impressive. He is beating people off the dribble.  Collapsing defenses and dishing to the open man . Often with eye opening passes. Unfortunately this crappy summer league team is worse then his Oklahoma team .

Finally his defense which was a concern of all the haters , has been OK. He is not getting exposed and he is not being lit up. Look at today’s box score he is PLUS 12! Despite a 18.8% FG percentage.

So the concern about his athleticism, his defense and his playmaking , or his shot selection do not seem to be founded at this level. The only concern is shooting percentage which was never a concern at all and should not be.

    One last thing.

CP needs to put the ball in his hands. No reason to have Tyler Dorsey or that 5’5” guy playing PG and bringing up the ball up the court with Trae off the ball.

isn't atl going to use cap space to get future picks, but that is about it?  i would think it isn't a perfect strategy

I think accumulation of young talent on rookie scale. Then making a splash in free agency is the way to go.  Depending on were we land in the lottery this year, we can make a splash in  FA 2019 -20

☝? For those who live outside the US and cant get the video.

Man this is the most exciting Hawks offseason since 2005 . Hats off to Mr Slink ..I was skeptical at first but this guy has a vision and his vision is already in play with cap flexibility,  multiple draft picks , adding picks that you can get excited about, and avoiding overpaying marginal FA. Who knows if it will pan out, but doing right things on a continuous basis often leads to desired outcomes. Go Hawks!

You dont know that. Look if you got a problem, take it to my PMs Keith.

Supes this guys are simply hating.

you where the first to say :

    1) Sac for Bagley

    2) Doncic to Atlanta

    3) Hawks looking for unprotected 1st with Dallas or Orl ( turned out to be top 5 protected)

    4) Cleveland getting Sexton

    thats pretty solid .

  7. Atlanta Hawks fans think  alike.

I was just being a super nerd and going through each team  and looking at their PG spots, to see who needs a PG. then I come on the squawk and see fellow squawkers pondering the same.  I havnt seen all teams but up till NYK.

It seems Chicago, Clippers, Knicks,  Magic Need a PG in the worst way.

    ? Pacers.  Spurs

  8. Any good owner hires staff to do a job. If the staff gives a solid reason why player X is preferred over player Y , you go with your staff. If you micromanage why did u hire the staff to began with. Sets a bad example.

I dont know for sure but there is innuendo that our owner was directly involved with the Horford deal and the Howard deal. How did that turn out.

Tony you hired Our GM let him work if his performance is unsatisfactory then you replace him. Dont touch the Task!

Doubtful this rumor  is true because this is basic MBA stuff. Tony being so successful, i doubt he would do these kind of amateur moves.

  9. Trae Young advanced defensive stats are not bad. His FG% is lower because of his 3point attemots.. His eFG% and True shooting % is excellent .  His Per is 28! I dont know ehy people hate on him so much. His only downside is size. Which is comprable to Chris Paul. You dont see Houston struggling with a CP3 and Harden backcourt.

That's only if Trae Young hits his offensive upside, which I think is unlikely long term.  Is a Mike Bibby type of player one that you build your team around?  I don't think it is.  I appreciate what Mike did for the Hawks, giving them a veteran leader at the point guard position that helped them dig out of the misery of losing, but he most certainly was not a foundation piece for a championship caliber team.

Now, if he hits his offensive peak, he could be a Steve Nash type of point guard, and that is a foundation piece.

The concern everyone should have about this is that we have already seen Ressler with a history of making a decision based on what he thinks it will do for ticket sales.....Dwight Howard....., and we may also be drafting him because he has some similarities with Steph Curry, meaning that Travis thinks he can recreate an exact copy of the current Golden State Warriors.  In reality, the combo of Young and Huerter is likely to be nothing more than a poor man's version of The Splash Brothers, and you will not have the defensive foundation to make it work.

If you draft Bamba, you will be neutralized by small ball line ups where you have to take him off the court due to his inability to switch.

Remember young Bibby in sac town was kind of awesome .. Old Bibby with the hawks post hand injury was ok...i think u will agree picking Prime Bibby is not a bad haul for the draft.

i would not mind trae and JJJ ...but JJJ , Bagely or Bamba alone is kind of comce comsa draft.

  11. When has a big in the mocern era of the NBA lead their team to success? KAT, AD,Embid? With pace and space, I think super stars are PGs and wings. Trae has solid offensive stats and had 9 dimes on a talent deficient team.  He still scored more then 23 ppg when opposing defenses zeroed in on him.  He may not make it as chances are neither will the others being discussed. But if he does I think he has superstar potential.
