We need to add a big to provide depth behind Capela. If Capela gets injured which is likely we need a raliable big behind, Okongwu and Bruno are too raw. We also need a big body to defend big centers like Embiid, Jolic, KAT... Capela, Okongwu and Bruno are all 6'10" and migh struggle with size.

That is why I wanted to keep Dedmon, I wonder if Skal can meet that role, probably too skinny to contain big centers

I know Dedmon's profile says he's 7', but there's no way. For reference, Pau is 7'1" and Lamarcus is 6'11". Our boy Dewayne might be 6'10". Every center in the league is going to struggle against Embiid/Jokic/KAT, but I think Capela can do a solid job on the first two. KAT you just need someone who will guard him out to 3, his post game isn't his strength.

  2. I think Philly adding shooting with Danny Green and Seth Curry will really help them tbh.

So the Raps are interesting to me.  I have A TON of respect for Nick Nurse and what he does with that team. I would still lean to them being much better than Hawks, but I'm not so certain of it given the losses of Gasol and Ibaka.  I'm not really an Aaron Baynes fan. I just don't know what the drop off will be given their losses.

As for Philly.  I'm not seeing it with them.

I'll admit to being high on the Hawks and usually end up overvaluing them, but still.  I think at this point, they will be competing for 5th or 6th in the east with Bogi.

  3. Also, I keep reading stuff like this (Hollinger on The Athletic) :

In the meantime, the Hawks got a solid minimum contract guy in forward Solomon Hill. A cynic would argue he is now the backup-backup-backup-backup-backup power forward behind John Collins, Danilo Gallinari, De’Andre Hunter and Onyeka Okongwu, but it also adds fuel to another theory: That the Hawks might not be done making moves yet, even if Bogdanovic ends up a Hawk on Tuesday.

Not sure I want any more moves after Bogi, but it should be an interesting couple weeks.

  4. So CBS Power Rankings have east teams in the following order :

    1. Bucks (2)
    2. Heat (3)
    3. Celtics (4)
    4. Raptors (6)
    5. Nets (8)
    6. 76ers (9)
    7. Pacers (14)
    8. Hawks (18)
    9. Magic (19)
    10. Hornets (23)
    11. Bulls (24)
    12. Wizards (25)
    13. Pistons (27)
    14. Knicks (28)
    15. Cavs (29)

You guys agree with the teams ranked ahead of us? I can see the case for everyone but I think we outclass the Pacers at this point if the Bogi signing goes through.  East is strong AF at the top now.

I am catching hell on another site from San Antonio fans. I said they will be fighting for the 10th seed and will be the last team out while being 11th. Those fans went ballistic.

Spurs need to tank next year, get a strong pick and have all the cap space from Derozan/Aldridge contracts being up, or flip one of those guys to a contender for assets. They definitely aren't making the west playoffs.

  6. Was driving all day yesterday so I didn't get a chance to react to the potential Bogi signing, but I'm really fascinated by this lineup. We'd get smoked on defense but damn if they can't shoot the rock.

    Trae (36%) - Huerter (38%) -Bogi (37%) - Gallo (41%) - JC (40%)

  7. I'm not sure where y'all are getting $30M/yr from. I don't see anybody offering him that, his $34M this year was considered way more than he was worth. If he resigns with the Celts it'll be on the cheap in the hopes he gets a chip, if he signs with ATL or NY I can't see either of them throwing more than low $20s. I could be wrong though, but I don't think Travis is a dummy.
