  1. My picks for the Hawks assuming Aldridge is already gone in both cases:

    1st Rd. Sheldon Williams PF/C

    2nd Rd. Will Blaylock PG

    or

    1st Rd. Randy Foye PG/SG

    2nd Rd. Eric Williams PF/C

Either way we add depth with experienced college players and we still have Al to deal. When I look at it on paper, I personally like Foye & E.W.

  2. Two 2nd round options that look good size wise are:

    Solomon Jones- 6'10" 225lbs 7'4" Wingspan

    Eric Williams- 6'8" 285lbs 7'4" Wingspan

I think Patrick O'Bryant should be considered at #5 along with Sheldon. I am still hoping the Aldridge falls to us.

  3. At first I was against this pick but Williams does actually fill huge holes on our roster, specifically back-up PF & back-up C. His strengths are rebounding and shot blocking which we sorely lack also and he is ready to play on day one. I would love to also make a deal to pick-up Rondo too.

  4. I am beginning to think that Rajon Rondo is the perfect fit with the talent the Hawks have acquired so far. We need an athletic, quick PG to push the tempo for J.J, the Josh's, & Marvin. Build this team similar to Phoenix. We don't need the traditional 5 position player.

Rondo is tough and his game should flourish in the NBA. I can see him getting to the basket and scoring or dishing to his high school teammate Josh Smith. I would trade down from #5 and draft Rondo unless Aldridge drops to 5 which I don't think he will.

We can go big in the 2nd round and in Free-agency.

  5. Justin Williams of Wyoming. He is a 6'10" rebounding and shot blocking machine. He AVERAGED 5.4 blocks per game this past season. That is 2.3 more per game than Tyrus Thomas. He also average 11 rebounds per game. He wouldn't need to score, just be a role player.

  6. Let's invite them in to go head to head and the last man standing is the pick. Their numbers are very close. Foye (20.5Pts, 5.8Reb, 3.0Ast)impressed me with his ability to get to the hole and get a shot off in distress and he has more range on his jumper. Roy (20.2Pts, 5.6Reb, 4.1Ast) is more of a slasher(similar to Childress) and probably better defensively. Each handles the ball well enough to play in the backcourt with J.J. Foye probably played better competition. My pick right now would be Foye.

    M. Williams will be an option also but his offensive game is limited and Billy has made it clear that he doesn't care about having the protype point guard.

Aldridge is my hope but he will be gone by #5.

  7. Quote:

In our last 34 games, we have gone 14-20, including 5-5 in our last 10 games. Our improved play has been a team effort, spearheaded by our veterans Joe Johnson, Al Harrington and Zaza Pachulia. With 16 wins thus far, we have surpassed last year’s win total and look forward to finishing the season strong.

AMAZING THAT A GM BRAGS ABOUT 16 WINS AND HAVING A 14-20 OVER THE LAST 34 GAMES. I THOUGHT PROFESSIONAL SPORTS ARE ABOUT WINS AND LOSSES. WHERE IS THE COMPETITIVE FIRE? WHAT A JOKE OF A FRANCHISE!

  8. For the Hawks owners, I will not be renewing my season tickets next season. I am tired of this so called process! Lets face it, Al Harrington is gone after this season with nothing coming back. How can you not at least try something to help this franchise? Take a chance! WAKE UP! Knight is killing this franchise. People say it is a process and that it takes time. At this pace we will have a winning season in 2010! Knight is a complete incompetent idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. I think Eric Williams is the most underated player in college basketball. I saw him play live last year at Tech and he dominated the paint. He has a very good low post game and the size to play PF in the NBA. He did very well in the Chicago draft camp last summer but decided to come back for his senior season. He shoots an extremely high percentage from the field but must work on his free throw percentage. All the mock drafts I see have him as a second round pick in a very week draft but I bet he goes mid to late first. I would love for him to be a Hawk!

  10. I tuned in last night to watch Texas vs. Iowa St. to see Aldridge of Tx & Stenson of IoSt. but the guy who really impressed me was IoSt. PG Will Blaylock. Blaylock is tied for second in the nation in assist at 6.8 per game. He really runs the floor well and has improved his scoring ability this year. He weighs about 200 lbs also so his 6ft height is not a problem. Plus we could use another Blaylock in the ATL!

  11. No Point Guards Available?

How about making an obvious choice and draft C.Paul. Other PG's available included Bobby Jackson, Antonio Daniels, Marko Jaric, Earl Watson, Rafer Alson, Jeff McGinnis, Damon Stoudamire, Nick Van Exel, Steve Blake, Jason Hart just to name a few.

And yes it was obvious to me that Chris Paul should have been the player drafted. He fit a need and he fit well with the players currently on our roster and he is a leader which this team needed. Marvin Williams is the reincarnation of Al Harrington.

  12. 9 Assist, 21 Turnovers for the Hawks. Utah had 29 assist. I'm starting to believe more and more that our coach is over matched. Utah moved the ball beautifully at times, setting screens and running plays to perfection. Bring on the Spurs!

  13. The more I think about such a trade the more sense it makes. The Knicks are desperate for a quality small forward and we could use another ball handler/scorer. We could even play Crawford, Salim & J.J. together at times because J.J. is 6'7" 220 and can easily play SF. I love Al but we can't let him walk at the end of the year without compensation. Crawford is signed for 5 more years.

    J. Crawford

    J. Johnson

    Z. Puchilla

    J. Smith

    J. Childress

  14. What about A. Harrington & T. Lue to Washington for Antonio Daniels, J. Jefferies, & Jarvis Hayes. Money works.

Antonio Daniels is a veteran PG who has always had one of the top assist to turnover ratios in the NBA. He is coming off a very good year in Seatle but has struggled somewhat this year. He plays very good def. also.

    Just a thought.

    A. Daniels- S. Stoudamire- R. Ivey

    J. Johnson- J. Hayes

    Z. Puschilla- E. Batista- J. Edwards

    J. Smith- J. Jefferies

    J. Childress- M. Williams

  15. His salary matches up with Al Harrington. Crawford played the point with Chicago and put up good assist to turnover numbers. I don't know much about his overall game, other than he can score. Possible line-up would be:

    J. Crawford T. Lue

    J. Johnson S. Stoudamire

    Z. Pachulia J. Edwards

    J. Childress M. Williams

    J. Smith E. Batista

Just a thought, couldn't hurt at this point.

  16. A couple of other big men that I like also are Paul Davis from Michigan St. and Eric Williams from Wake.

Davis was very impressive in Maui and last night vs. GT. Soft touch around the basket and can hit the college three. Ave. 20 & 11 so far shooting over 60% from the field against good competition.

Williams has to be the most underated player in college basketball. He shoots a very high percentage from the field against all competition. His rebounding numbers could be better but he will be an outstanding PF in the NBA. Saw him live against GT last year and he was unstopable.

  17. I can't watch anymore. They have a lot of "potential" talent but who can wait that long. Billy Knight had the right idea about rebuilding but he didn't excecute properly. He should not have composed a team as young as this group is. They will lose their confidence losing 65 plus games this year after loosing 69 games last year. Our weeknesses are obvious to even the casual fan. No point guard to push the pace and lead the team and no interior defensive presence. Billy Knight should be held accountable. I know we are rebuilding but this is ridiculous! I will not spend a dime more to watch this team until they become consistently competitive.

  18. What makes you think Marvin will be the better player 3 years down the road. First of all C.P. is only 1 yr. older than Marvin. Marvin is a tweener size wise and I don't see superior athleticism or superior basketball IQ. C.P. is already the best player and leader of the N.O. franchise and would be a perfect fit with the athletic guys we already have on roster.

  19. Agreed, no quick fixes however it makes you wonder what our record would be if we had drafted Chris Paul. I haven't heard Billy Knight on the radio too much since the season started, but I wish someone would ask him his rationale for skipping over Paul and D. Williams. Those kind of mistakes take years to overcome.

  20. We need the athleticism and rebounding of the two Josh's on the court at the same time. We need J.J. running off screens to set up his jump shot. We need Al's low-post game. We need C. Paul running the point, oops, that just slipped out. Marvin by the way looks lost.
