@Sothron Why is the answer no?

Because Ressler is building Centennial Yards and just announced a big entertainment district.

It's a very bad business decision for him based on the real estate objectives he and his company haves.

From a marketing perspective its much easier for them to sell lease space when they can market "Come See Trae Young' (and scrubs) then just "come see our scrubs and get wasted".

    Very good point.

I wonder how the battery would have worked if the Braves were still in the "Freddie Freeman and no one else" years.

The good news for him is that he has all the opportunity in the world to show us he does know how to leverage deals and make good trades this offseason.  Ball is in his court.

I just hope we're all bracing ourselves to run it back with one signing like the ghost of PJ Tucker or something lol.

The odds of that happening are way too high.

JJ is not a superstar to build around...... yet.

99.9% of sports talk radio personalities are ridiculously biased towards hot takes and don't take in consideration actual statistics.

IMO, you need to start swapping the other pieces besides JJ, Trae, and DJM before you talk about rebuilding.

Capela, Bogi, Bey, Dre, OO... they all suck and need to go

Yeah the only way this makes any sense is if you get a star in return.

JJ is great, but he is not close to being "the" guy.

That's where your wrong. My scouting report on Edey doesn't say that. And I've seen a number of them as well as videos from your boys, No Ceilings that doesn't say that. But you don't read or listen to anyone saying anything positive about Edey. You think they are all on Edey payroll

You do the opposite of this though. It's been a month and you won't acknowledge that there is anything remotely limiting to Edys game, either.

I am with campster. This discussion needs to die. It flows over into damn near every thread on this board. Pick it up after Summer League.

I had a chance to check out Edey and he does have a nice post-game and good rebounder but to me it feels like he clogs the line like CC does and he does not have a pick and pop game to him (most of the stuff I seen from him was putbacks and under the rim).  These center today can hover around the three-point line and shoot it, do you think he can do that.

Supes has a mancrush like never before on Edy, so I don't know if you will get an unbiased take about this 😆

Name the last time you saw a good GM make a public statement like this.  I don't think I've seen it three times in my life.  It is obviously a terrible idea and signals that you probably don't know how deals get made and how leverage works.  It is the same reason that teams plant rumors in the press all the time about players they want, during the draft, etc.  Everyone in the league has eyes but what is said in the press actually influences how deals come together, when players gets drafted, etc.  It doesn't affect every GM every time but there is an obvious reasons teams keep doing this.  It is why we see rumors of DJM and Trae wanting out of Atlanta, etc.  True or not, those rumors hurt our leverage.  And our GM doing this was a self-inflicted wound and actually hurts more than a random stupid rumor because our GM of all people is on camera saying it.

"We absolutely think Trae and DJ pair well together. The rest of our roster might need some retooling to maximize the pairing to its full extent, but that is work we are certainly willing to do and look forward to continuing our efforts to build a championship roster this offseason"

    How damn hard is that?

When is the last time you saw two NBA teams make a trade where both teams got better?  Our issue is that every trade proposal we had was one where the other team approached the trade like we were rebuilding.

Landry has done nothing to dispel that and in my eyes, his post deadline comments only hurt our standing even further.

He seems way too honest for his own good.

Our own @Mikey  suggested he asked for a trade.

And there was the instagram/twitter/whatever DMs where he was NOT happy.

I'm not saying any of it was real. All I said was it didn't help anything and Landry did absolutely nothing to tone down that narrative.

Y'all got me over here wondering if Im the only one that remembered that happened lol

Offensive center is obvious, draft Edey.

The hard one is another star like Booker or Mitchell.

This team is easy to get back into playoffs. Get Edey. The hard part is getting a legit star for Trae. Murray is the easiest one to move. He improved his value. There are suitors and while the deals aren't great or even that good, it's workable. There are no workable deals for Trae.

A rebuilding trade doesn't work because we need to add the assets from Trae to our assets but the Murray trade killed that so we can't rebuild. Even a trade with SA is a massive net negative. Not optional.

That's not true. That's obviously not true. Murray loves it here.

Not sure if serious or not? I'm not arguing against the actual reality of that statement, but there was definitely "DJ wants out" floating all through the media at the deadline.

when you start with a mindset that you need to cut salary, teams have you over the barrel.  This is what happened at the deadline with some of these Murray deals.  Wether true or not, the perception was that Hawks were looking for expiring contracts back.  Very unfortunate!

Yup. Plus the "DJ is a malcontent" stuff. I'm not trying to blame it all on Landry by any means, but everyone above Quin has been doing a pretty poor job all around for a while now. The nuance of being a GM is part of the job. You can't be bad at the nuance and then expect zero blame when you don't get the job done.

    They've gotta be better.

So, what's he supposed to do?  Some jedi mind trick shit to get the Laker's GM to give him more than DeAngelo Russell and picks?

When you word it as "Jedi mind tricks" I'd have to say no lol.

But I do think it falls somewhere much closer to the middle than you are saying.

A good GM gets good deals. There are "how the hell did you get that for him?" deals every season.

I'll give an example of what I mean from a previous sales job. The boss man loved to say "This is a sales job. Not a customer service job. If you only make deals with people that do all the work for you, you aren't doing your job".

Does Landry need to Jedi mind trick the Lakers to be a good GM? No. But if he goes every offseason just saying "Argh, nobody wants to give me anything close to reasonable", well, hes not doing his job. He needs to find and negotiate good deals. That is his job.

Wow I wasn’t expecting so many of you to take this game seriously. Hawks been trash all season. Trae went down and all the Trae haters said “Murray will lead us to the promise land just watch” …ended up with a worse record than last season and no it’s not because Trae came back early from injury.

i will admit Trae was absolute trash tonight but so was this team in general outside of Murray’s offensive performance. The defense is so horrendous even if Traes offense was a normal outing we likely are still losing this.

we need defense and length so bad , along with a easy bucket scorer it ain’t even funny bro hams.

    This.

The roster is so hilariously flawed(especially now).

But ALL of that is Traes fault.

Coby White seeing red anytime Bogi is on him.

Would be nice if Quin did something creative, like put a rookie defensive guard on White?

No chance at that though.   Gonna live and die with this group.

I completely understand the roster limitations and why Gueye has played.

But damn, Gueye is getting minutes, but Kobe can't??
