I was looking over some stats from this past season earlier today and it remarkable how Alice was basically just marginally better than a lot of their Bigs in Boston.   He's obviously a better player than Sullinger and Amir Johnson and Tyler Zeller, but statistically, he's not a HUGE upgrade.  It will be interesting to see if Steven's system increases his productivity compared to Bud's system.  If not, they may have some upset fans in Beantown.

They should re-sign Sullinger or they will be the worst rebounding team in the league by far. They already were 26th in DRB%.

If Alice doesn't perform well, it wouldn't surprise me if Ainge trades him for a Jimmy Butler type of player.

I'm sorry.....I can't seem to get past this statement.  Maybe I'm misreading it cuz, you know, it's Tuesday after the 4th and I'm back at work and not really fully with it today, but ARE YOU REALLY FREAKING CLAIMING THAT BOSTON IS FAR SUPERIOR TO EVERYONE ELSE NOT NAMED CLEVELAND?????

    I mean, like, REALLY?

They sub out (of starting) 10.3 pts / 8.3 Reb / 2.3 Ast / 0.6 Blk per game in Jared Sullinger and sub in Alice and his 15.2 pts / 7.3 Reb / 3.2 Ast / 1.5 Blks per game.  It's a net gain but it's marginal for a team that was middle of the pack in offensive efficiency last season.  They also lost Evan Turner and his 10.5 pts a game.

    PG: Thomas

    SG: Bradley

    SF: Crowder

    PF: Jerebko

    C: Alice

How is that "far superior to every other team"???

Sullinger was their best rebounder by far, he was a great rebounder, and they were a poor rebounding team. If they don't re-sign him, watch out for Tristan Thompson, Drummond, Whiteside,  Valanciunas, Biyombo and Howard grab 20 rebounds against them. The East is getting bigger.

Golden State drafted their own players.  Durant signed with a great team already.  Can't hate on the Warriors for wanting to improve their already loaded team with another stud.  They did just blow a 3-1 lead albeit the NBA wasn't allowing the Cavaliers to lose no matter what..I digress.  On paper the Warriors should be amazing, but when the playoffs get here and the NBA script is decided it could be a different story.

I want to see the great big men in the NBA play against the Warriors. They could have problems. I want the Pelicans and Timberwolves to have good years, so we can receive Minny's pick and Anthony Davis and KAT can put problems on the Warriors.

  4. It depends on these three players:

    -Dennis Schröder

    -Taurean Prince

    -Dwight Howard

They will be the key to success this year. We know what we are getting from anyone else (except Bembry, who could also become a good bench player).

  5. Oh well, I made I mistake. I thought I heard that a pass for a three pointer never counted as an assist, but I searched the rule:

    An assist in Europe is:

-When you pass the ball and, if there is no dribble and your teammate scores (here is the difference with the NBA, you can dribble once or twice and still it's an assist)

-When you pass the ball to midcourt in a fastbreak and it ends in points, but only if there is no opposition to the basket

Thanks for the info Serbian hawk. If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by assists in Europe count differently?

That's not an assist for example. An assist for a three pointer doesn't count in FIBA basketball.

  7. Personally I'm hyped about DeAndre Bembry. I love the way he plays. I think he could become one of my favorite players, he could be a good bench player this year. I also read that he's a winner, and I love it.

Right E, time to turn the page.

Any names still available to fill needs?

There are a lot of FA PG right now. But not sure if they are good fit or are in our price range. I would like someone who could also play some minutes with Dennis. Could Deron Williams play here? I always thought he was great player off ball. It will be harder to upgrade at SF. Maybe a trade, or hope that we found a gem in Taurean Prince.

  9. 1. Backup PG

    2. Upgrade at SF

    3. ¿Backup PF?

Right now everything else it's ok or even better than OK. Dennis, Bazemore, Millsap and Dwight is a good core. With the addition of the rookies and the players we still had we have a great combo of bench players at the wing from the bench. Splitter it's a great backup center (we could also move him), and Edy will remain as our 3rd center.

So we should now face our main needs.

Honestly I'm not just saying this because we didn't sign him, but for a big man, Horford was soft as hell and that was one of the reasons we kept getting killed by the Cavs. I loved Horford in his first 6 or so years, the last 3 he's been scared of getting hurt and an all around wuss. Most so called experts say his game will transition well into his 30's, I think he might decline and be a complete gimp in 2 years. We will move on without him, I'm more upset we didn't get anything in return for him than him leaving.

Maybe they are saying that if he can only average 3.5rpg against the Cavs in the Playoffs, it couldn't get any worse even if he gets older...

I hate to say it but the Hawks are going to be worse ....Horford really screwed us. Smh

we don't even have a f***ing backup pg! 4m in cap room! I lost sleep over the last two days to see a worst team.

May be time for me to stop keeping up with Hawks basketball so closely. I will forever be a fan only for the Hawks and I'm not made at budcox efforts cause they did try.

....just pissed about the situation. This is what happens when you take gambles and as much as I like Horford I may grow to hate him in the NBA even more so than lebron he pushed the Hawks back with this in the present and future in my opinion.

This. I'm devastated right now. It won't be easy. We lost a big oportunity today of becoming a relevant team...but I still trust a lot Budenholzer. I just hope to get up tomorrow and see things in a different way.

Were probably talking to him right now about the moves we are trying to make and tell him the fit and all. I am pretty sure Al wants to stay but we need do more if we want to surpass Cleveland or at least have hopes to. Let's not act like Dwight can't renege on his deal if it does fall apart.

I think we could give Cleveland problems if we re-sign Al and move Paul Millsap for a SF (like Gallinari, someone you have mentioned a lot).

  13. hace 42 minutos, NBASupes dijo:

Considering all it takes for us to keep Al is trading several cheap no needed anymore players like Tim and Splitter.  Cutting Scott. I think all of us feel good about retaining Al's services.

We are not keeping Millsap, Al, and D12. We could also get some money (not a lot, I would want a starter SF in return) for Millsap...
