  1. Pace is going 27-14 winning % over an entire season or 82 games. 27-14 is that record over 41 games. Disconnect between the parties as to what everyone was talking about. Nothing to see here.

I see. And I kinda thought of that after I asked.

    No biggie.

  2. Me too. 58 wins would be Atlanta franchise record and thats good enough. How does anyone foresee any team in the east beating us 4 times in a 7 game series?!?!

But think about it.... 58 would be going 25-16 the rest of the way. That's a lot of of losing for this team.

  3. I honestly think their first round opponent will be a difficult one, IMHO. The teams in the range of the 8th seed (except the Nets; hope they don't make it, obviously) give me a little concern because they play just recklessly enough to hang around in a ballgame and series.

Yeah same here. Detroit would be tough. Hell even Boston would scare me.
  4. Still not much love from NBA radio

Gerald brown and Howie said cannot beat Chicago , Cleveland , Toronto , or Washington in a 7 game series. Smh

Their reasoning is the absents of a superstar on our part. This whole superstar garbage is becoming cliche IMO. It is becoming like political radio listening to sports talk. Its just one talking point after another and none of these guys have any original thoughts.

Toronto is the only team better than us in the Eastern Conference.
  5. They're going to need a lot of prayer. Personally I don't even think Bud cares if he gets his, he's virtually unstoppable. We will play smart to limit his free throw attempts, though.

We're going to exploit Dwight on both ends for the win. We could get blown out on the boards and still win by 7 or 8 becuae we're gonna have a much better flow. They shoot threes just to get them up, there's a method to our bombing.

    You called that shit, bhb.

  6. I was there from 1991 - 95.

The university itself ( to my knowledge ) wasn't doing that. From what I can remember about Thompson-Bowling Arena, independent vendors used to sell merchandise at tables around the concourse of the arena. The stuff I saw was all UT merchandise.

But we all know that Kentucky travels well, and for those early 90s games in Knoxville, 1/2 of the arena would be Blue.

So if you saw vendors selling UK stuff during that era, it would be hard for me to doubt that, even if I didn't see it.

I can assure you it happened.

But this is also the same Athletic Dept that tweets about a record number of concessions being sold the day after getting hammered on National TV.

But that's the kind of stuff that happens when you strictly hire from outside the University and bring in people w/out a clue.

This conversation belongs on Volquest or something.

  7. Everything caters to the casual fan these days.

They already have people like us. They are trying to lure people that regularly watch The Bachelor and would like once a season to come to a game to capture a new Facebook profile pic w/ arena in background.

  8. Man please. As an Advertising major from UT, I know for a fact that we were taught the basics of Marketing and how to use a wide array of media, focus groups, and concrete data to formulate an effective ad campaign and/or marketing strategy .. including proper branding of your business/product/company.

I don't know if he's still there, but Dr. Haley taught us well in the 90s.

LOL @ selling Alabama gear at the UT Campus Bookstore ... or saying that they needed less hip hop at UT games ... when the student body goes absolutely crazy when Lil Jon's "Turn Down For What" comes on.

No no no ... Our football team may be struggling, but we know the basics of Marketing.

Tennessee used to sell Kentucky gear at TBA in the 90s.
  9. It sucks but I'd bet you anything the numbers back up their marketing strategy. The vast majority of fans who come out to Hawjs games are either casual Hawks fans who come out to star games or they're bandwagon or star chasers who show up on those nights to cheer for the other team. Sad state of affairs but it's true.

Doesn't make their marketing any easier to swallow though.

    This.

Also it sounds like something University of TN would do.
