  1. I didn't expect much for Collins.  His stats and effectiveness have been declining for a few seasons and he has been on the trade block all that time.  That being said, he was a great Hawk for his leadership and just overall being a great guy.  I hope he improves his game and mainly his perimeter shooting.  This front office has an extremely hard job ahead and they really dug themselves in that hole by trading all the draft picks for Murray.  Now they need to likely try to deal Murray or lose him and have nothing in return for 3 draft picks.

  2. For me this is a new low as a Hawks fan.  I've been a fan since around 84.  We had the early 00's rebuild; then we built a team around underpaid guys.  Then we blew that up and rebuilt again.  I was a huge Travis Schlenk fan and hard for me to root for this team after apparently he was done wrong.  I'm still a fan but how do you even rebuild after you traded 3 1st round picks?  It seems like Murray is gone after this year.   At least it will be easy to get cheap tickets to Hawks game the next few years.  Ressler and the front office need to come up with some type of plan; otherwise State Farm arena is going to be empty.    I went to a bunch of games from 03-05; the place was totally dead.  People aren't going to pay $75 dollars + a ticket for a subpar product.   It seems like the only option at this point is to do what makes Trae happy and do the best to build around him.

  3. Great insight.  I am kind of wondering about the 2019 draft.  I can't recall who was available but if there had been a solid 2 then we should have taken him.  Instead we basically took 2 3's with Hunter and Reddish and potentially neither one of those guys will be here next year, and Trae needs a strong 2 to go with him.  Schlenk really has his work cut out for him.   I think the Hawks need to focus on 2 and 4 next year and they will need to find ways trade Collins, Huerter, and Bogi; then waive Gallinari.

  4. I voted Okongwu and Collins but Hunter is obvious.  And I think we all agree we need to keep Hunter.  I think a change of scenery could be good for Collins and I think some teams could use him.  After some really good GM years, I think Schlenk did not have a great year.  I think this off-season is as big for him as the year that we had the #4 pick and picked up Trae.

  5. I think the main point is how bad the defense was all year.  It's not completely Nate's fault but he has to be accountable.  Schlenk needs to have someone in mind and not fire Nate without having a good plan in place.  The other thing that concerns me is if Trae isn't making a play off his dribble(pick and roll, drive) our offense is abysmal.  If it's not Trae driving in the lane; it seems we are launching 3's.

  6. It's a really hard position for both Schlenk and Collins.  Collins obviously likes Atlanta and gets along and jells with his teammates.  For Schlenk Collins is a good face for the franchise and as the first point jells with the team.  Still Collins isn't worth max money.  He really struggled when he has tried to be a primary scoring option.  He has to improve his shooting.  He's really inconsistent with mid-range and 3 point shooting.  His best role is scoring in transition, pick-and-rolls, and offensive tip-ins.  I think if you're Schlenk you have a hard conversation with Collins and give him a modest contract offer without Collins becoming resentful.  I really don't think any team will out-match a modest non-max contract we offer Collins but then again I could be wrong.

JC having one of his worst games ever.

I really hate it for John but yes.  He's just not comfortable creating his own shot.  He needs to score off a tip-in or alley-oop.  He must be nervous shooting the ball because he looks like he's pushing it and line driving shots with no arc.

Ya up until this point felt like house money and now it’s like we are inches away from being the prom Queen 👸. It’s so nerve wrecking!

I know what you guys mean but I still feel like we are playing with house money.  After the Cleveland series this has been a real uplift for Atlanta Hawks basketball.  Game 4 was a huge momentum shift but as we see here in the first minutes the Bucks are tough.

  9. Did you see the open letter Collins had to Atlanta?  Collins, Trae, and this bunch are here to win now.  They have the winning attitude.  I hear you though; I don't want to hear "this is a young team, we have a future."  Collins and Trae are seizing the moment and out to win this sh-t now.  We are tied 2-2 and have every opportunity to win this series.  Still if the Hawks do not win this series I will be damn proud of this over-achieving bunch.  It will be one of the biggest upsets in NBA history if the Hawks win the NBA title this year; but it is possible.

  10. Good start.  Nice looks by Okongwu and lot of hustle by everyone.  Still we have to improve our 3 pt shooting next year.  It's been abysmal in the playoffs.  We just need to stop taking 3's; we're only shooting 28%.  That's my one issue with Nate.  If the pick and roll play isn't there 8 times out of 10 we are shooting a 3.  We're not even making wide open 3's.

That's what happens in the playoffs!!  People get exposed like James Harden each and every year.

Yah, I haven't looked at Bogi's other playoff #'s; maybe it was the knee.  I kept seeing Seth Curry and last year the guys on Heat burying 3 after 3 and wish we had a clutch 3 shooter like that.  Our 3 attempts look like desperation shots.
