  1. We have a lot of talent but Bucks are exposing where we are weak.  It seems w/ Bogi hampered with injuries we don't have any serious 3 pt threat.  Our 3 pt % has been terrible throughout the playoffs and when Trae gets locked down and kept out of the paint our main option is to kick out for a 3.  Hopefully Cam and Hunter continue to develop offensively.  The other point mentioned is we only have 2 big post defenders.  I am sure Schlenk is going to have some tough work in the off-season.  He has to figure out what they offer Collins.  Collins is great off-ball and on offensive rebounds but he seems like more of a tall/long wing than a power forward.

Injuries have been a big problem all year and so many teams affected.   But the one thing i know is that with a healthy Bogi and Trae, not to mention Hunter, we are better than the Bucks.

The Bucks have so much depth.  They have so many guys that can step in and score and shoot 3's.  With Bogi and Trae hampered with injuries our main scoring alternatives have been Galinari and Collins; both are not consistent.

Not going to live by 30 foot shots

Yah, what is the thought?  Can we just not penetrate their D?  We're shooting 25% from 3 pt range.  If the Trae can't penetrate the paint it seems our offensive solution is shoot a long 3.  I think that's my main complaint about Nate.  They are playing tight D on try and not allowing the pick and roll or double pick.

  4. Good analysis; now comes the hard part to execute a game plan.  I have been impressed with Coach Bud.  I really liked him as the Hawks coach.  I thought if Ferry staid they would have had more success.  I think if the Hawks don't win tomorrow this may be over in 5.

  5. I don't recall the scores of the Cleveland ECF where they swept us but I don't recall getting blown out by 35 points.  Maybe I just blacked out the scores from my memory.  Trae has a lot of confidence so hopefully this doesn't shake him.  I recall now that after Demarre Carrol got hurt we were pretty much done.  Thank goodness the next game is at home.

  6. I'm speechless.  Hawks don't even look like an NBA team right now.  I've never seen an NBA team shoot 63% in a half.  Coach Bud really has this machine running.  I remember when he was here we would always use the ball motion offense and get a lot of easy and open shots.   I know Nate let's the Hawks and Trae do their thing but the shot selection is awful.

Remembering Bill Tush and the German Shepard with peanut butter in his mouth giving the news. Both national and local. What a blast from the past. Loved TBS back then and their Friday Night Fright movies as well. Uh especially Friday Night Frights....parents could never understand.

Yah, Loved the Superstation.  I remember turning on and watching Hawks game as a kid.  Loved Doc, Randy Whitman, Tree, Roundfield, and Nique.

I like calling him Double Oh personally at home or at games.

He is becoming exactly what he was in college: basically a smaller Capela. The big question for me is can he develop an outside shot and more importantly can he hit free throws.

That's what I keep thinking.  A lot of power forwards/centers over the years  learned to become great shooters like Barkley, Horford, Karl Malone, Horace Grant,  and even Koncack even deveoped a nice shoot.  Horace could not really shoot once he came out of college but became a great shooter.  That's how guys really elevate to stars and it also helps them later in their career when they can't be as physical.  Collins has improved his shooting a lot but I think if he wants max money he needs to get a dead-eye mid-range shot and improve his 3 pt shooting.  Schlenk really has really done great with his picks; obviously Trae, then Huerter, Okongwu, Hunter, and Cam.

  9. I had not watched the Hawks very much in 18-19 & 19-20 but I listened on the radio some and kept up with the box scores.  Collins had great #'s in 19-20 averaging 21.6 ppg.  I really started watching the Hawks again this year.  What surprised me is Collins plays more like a wing than a PF.   He's great in transition, off picks, and has good shooting range.  A guy at SF arena was telling me it's good because he creates matchup problems for other 4's in the league.  Still the playoffs has shown he is a great role player and really scraps on D and rebounding in crunch time.  It just seems for max $ the Hawks really need guy that can be a reliable scorer.   Huerter seems like his developing into more of scoring threat and can create his own shots.  Collins needs to work on his mid-range and 3 point shots and also post moves.  I think if Collins works hard he could be a max contract guy but that's probably 4 years aways.  He is only 23.

The big difference is that team was a veteran elite team with plenty of playoff experience and expected to be competing on that stage; but THIS is a brand new extremely young team without a lick of playoff experience until now and they weren't even supposed to be here yet. This is ALL gravy.

Not to mention even IF we lose this series, acknowledging the above, we would wind up taking the number 1 seed to 7 games WITHOUT our 2nd best player for the entire series.

This is all true.  Even Collins is only 23.  Does Schlenk just keep going with the young crew Collins, Reddish, Hunter, etc; or does he try to trade some of those guys for a veteran scorer who can play D?  It seems like the only trade bait we have is Hunter.  Collins is a free agent and I don't think the Hawks want to pay him what he thinks he's worth.
