  1. People fell in love with his attitude, but I don't think people really watched his offensive game when he wasn't wide open for a corner 3.

He has no 1-on-1 game, so he'll forever be a role player, but there was more to him than shooting open 3's. He had a wonderful feel for our offensive system. Nobody could make the timely cut like Demarre.

Bazemore now has a true chance to come into his own similar to what DeMarre did after a year in our system.

    lolwut

Demarre was pretty much the same player both seasons in Atlanta. He improved a little bit, but not dramatically. Bazemore is a bad shooter, he's out of control, and he fouls too much. Those are major fundamental problems. Maybe he'll fix them, but you are operating on blind optimism.

  2. Id do the same for my family.

LOL @ cloaking naked greed in family values.  No family in the world needs more than $50 million.

Let's not forget that Demarre developed sticky hands after the All-Star break.  Our chemistry suffered because of it.  My concern is that next season he will feel the need to justify this outlandish contract.

Whatever, he was a warrior and I enjoyed rooting for him.

  3. Huge upgrade over Pero.

    Yes!!!

At first I thought this move was decent, but then I read about Splitter's defense and now I think this is a great move.  He defends superstars one-on-one, good pest, moves his feet on pick'n'rolls, adequate rim protector.

We'll be able to start Splitter over Millsap occasionally, depending on matchups.  Our rotation might be similar to San Antonio's, with Millsap playing the Diaw role.

  4. The measure is and will always be the bottom-line... the wins and losses, and did you improve on your post-season over what you did before?

That's silly.  If you're rating a GM, you'd give the Portland GM a big positive grade for picking Brandon Roy at that spot in that draft, despite the fact that it didn't work out.  He did a great job identifying talent.

We just had two consecutive talent-laden drafts for the first time in eons.  Budcox got virtually nothing out of those drafts.  I hope there is a bigger plan, like signing Hardaway gives us the cap room to sign a stud.

  5. I read this whole thread but didn't see anybody talking about Hardaway at Michigan State.  I watched him play at least half a dozen times.  He just wasn't very good.  He didn't show much offensive talent.  Hardly anybody looks more talented in the NBA than they did in college.  I can't think of a single example off the top of my head.  There are plenty of underachievers in college who blossom in the pros, but they always flashed their talent in college.

  6. You mean like how dangerous it's been to have Popovich in that role over in SA?

I don't mean to be a jerk, but frankly, it's a little jerk-ish to me that people could presume they know better than Bud... AT LEAST wait and be critical when there's some evidence that he doesn't know what the hell he's doing... until then, it's like you're being critical just to be critical... really it is.

He has made two moves.  He dumped a good prospect (Payne) for very little in return.  He dumped a decent draft pick in a great draft in exchange for a bad player.  Both moves look amateurish on the surface.  He also didn't make any moves at the trade deadline to help put the team over the top in a season when the Eastern Conference was ripe for the picking.

So, he's 0 for 3 so far.  Until he makes a good move, it's difficult to presume he knows what he's doing.
