Raptors and Cavs keep losing. Great night overall despite Celtics win.
This Hawks team have showed resilience again despite a typical slow start. Gutsy win with an all-around pretty good perfomance by the magnificent six. Its good to see Baze finally living the contract expectations. What a nice turn around.
Next friday vs Wizards is a mandatory win.
GO HAWKS!

Horrible first half buried us down. Its been too many games that we start 1º quarter with cold shooting, poor defense and lack of effort against subpar teams. We couldnt stop hot shooters Reddick, Rivers and Crawford.
Bench played pretty bad overall.

I understand that Prince has to get acclimated to the system but man, sure he can play much better than Scott. He is been awful.

When you think this team can gain some consistency they let us down again with lackdaisical effort.
Maybe they are gassed or hangover...

CitaAccording to NBA.com, an Erie franchise and Hawks could be close to finalizing a deal for the next two seasons while Atlanta prepares for a permanent team in Georgia.
The NBA D-League could remain in Erie for at least the next two seasons, according to a national report that emerged during last weekend's D-League Showcase.
The Atlanta Hawks are close to finalizing a deal to operate a D-League franchise here for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons while awaiting a completion of their permanent facility outside Atlanta in College Park, Georgia, NBA.com writer Scott Howard-Cooper wrote in an online article appearing Sunday.
Reached Monday morning, BayHawks lead local investor Owen McCormick said he was unable to confirm the report.
It remains unclear what the team would be called or who would coach it, although the Erie BayHawks retained their name after majority owner Steve Demetriou agreed last fall to sell the franchise to the Orlando Magic, who will operate it as their own D-League affiliate in Lakeland, Florida, beginning next season.
That move left Erie and the BayHawks with no clear future in the D-League, although a Hawks announcement would ensure the league remains here for two more years, and possibly longer should the Hawks experience delays in starting up their operations in Georgia.
Speculation about the Hawks temporarily running a D-League team in Erie surfaced during the D-League's Showcase in Mississauga, Ontario. Howard-Cooper mentioned the possibility in an article that also suggested the league is close to another round of announcements about expansion.
Howard-Cooper reported that D-League president Malcolm Turner said the D-League, currently at 22 teams, would add at least two and possibly more teams by next season.
While Turner provided no details, Howard-Cooper said speculation "within D-League circles" is that the Hawks would temporarily move to Erie, with the Wizards locating an expansion team in the Washington D.C. area, the Bucks placing a team somewhere in Wisconsin and the Clippers adding a team in Southern California.
Although details such as the nature of any possible affiliation remain unclear, the BayHawks and Hawks likely would enter into a hybrid agreement splitting the basketball and business operations, similar to the one currently in place between the BayHawks and Magic.
An affiliation between the two organizations likely would benefit from the long-standing relationship among McCormick and current BayHawks management and two members of the Hawks' front office - general manager Wes Wilcox and director of player personnel John Treloar.
Wilcox was heavily involved the Cleveland Cavaliers' D-League basketball operations when the Cavaliers were affiliated with the BayHawks from 2008-2011. Treloar coached the BayHawks in 2008 and 2009.

Definitely Humphries has had an impact after Muscala's injury. Love his toughness. He deserves more playing time than Musky.
As well I would add Korver's trade made us more competitive and balanced in the rotations. Bazemore has stepped up since then and THJ is our best offensive weapon from the bench.

It would be surprising if Millsap doesnt get selected even though he is still somehow an underrated player.
We are in pace of 50W and Millsap is our MVP. Paul deserves it more than Porzingis for sure.

I would have liked Tucker's signing two seasons ago. I dont know, maybe Dunleavy and/or a 2nd round pick would do it. This rumor sounds weird to me because is a another defensive minded SF like Thabo.

At the halfway point of the season, 41 games played we are 4th in the East with a 24-17 record. That puts us on pace to finish 48-33 (Identical record to last season).
We started the 10 game stretch against NY and finished against NY. They were the 5 seed ahead of us at #6. They are now out of the playoffs at #11.
If we continue to play the way we have played over the last 10 games (9-1), we should be able to improve on that record.
41 games left - The first 10 games:
Home: CHI, PHI, LAC, WAS, NYK, ORL
Away: DET, CHI, MIA, HOU
What will our record be over the next 10? I'll say 8-2.
After all the roster changes and rumors of trades and rebuild we pretty much are on the same pace and page as last season. We still are a good defensive team (5º DefRat) and not so good on offense (21º OfRat).
On offense we struggle on three point shooting (23º, 34,6%) and free throw shooting (28º, 71,9%). Also the turnovers are quite a problem (bottom five).
On the contrary, after the addition of Howard we have gone from being a bad rebounding team to one above the average. It looks like we are more ready for the tight playoff games with toughness and resilience. Hopefully by playoff time we can deploy full roster at maximum potential.
Given recent perfomances, at least we should take care of business at home games and make a push for the 2nd or 3rd position until ASG. I believe we have room of improvement mostly on offense and building chemistry. IMO we need good outings from the wings, especially Bazemore and Hardaway.

The wing bench looks much better so hope it continues.
I agree. I think we have a more solid all-around rotation now. We needed a SF with size and shooting. Dunleavy is been a revelation, hopefully he keeps it up.

If he could provide 37-40% 3FG I would be glad with his signing.

Apart from Thomas heroics and Celtics three points accuracy, our lack of shooting, energy and ball movement killed us. We need urgently a wing capable of create some ofense and shoot decently from 3.
We have a solid defensive first unit, but its hard to compete against solid teams with Thabo and Bazemore shooting sub 30% 3PT.

Horford will want revenge for getting boo'd mercilessly.
I expect one clap for each Howards dunk on him (sorry I couldnt found any clap with the Celtics)

In advance stats we are fifth in Defensive Rating, IMO the key of recent success. Hopefully we might end top 3 by the end of the season and be ready for the PO.

Solid win keeping fresh the starters.
My only complaint is the FT%.
Bench showed that they can be reliable. Loved the energy of Humphries and Prince. It seems that finally Bud has figured out rotations.
I agree Hardaway is a better fit than Baze but we need his scoring from the second unit. I see him like a "poors man" version of Jamal Crawford.
Cant wait till Friday, GO HAWKS!

If we keep up solid defense, hitting open shots, gelling chemistry and handle business against sub 50% teams, at the end of January we could be perfectly 2nd or 3rd seed in the East.
Interesting note found in SI Power Ranking.
Citait's worth mentioning that the lineup of Dennis Schröder, Thabo Sefolosha, Kent Bazemore, Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard has been the league’s most efficient defensive group (minimum 100 minutes played)

Man, I loved that backcourt Mookie-Stacey, they were juggernauts on defense.
I remember back in the days waiting for the Augmon highlight in the top 10 plays.

Teams rarely trade in conference let alone in division. There's almost no way Orlando would ever trade with us and vice versa.
If we could get Oladipo and Sabonis for Millsap I call that a win. I'm really high on Sabonis, that kid is going to be special if he plays up to his potential.
Oladipo is good but I dont like so much his contract (84M/4) and I doubt he'll be a good fit with Dennis and Baze. IMHO we should trade Bazemore before in order to acquire Oladipo.
Sabonis would be a pretty good singing for Bud system. Maybe Kanter is in the trade block as well.

Last 15 games he's shooting around 65% FTs, when you include tonight's 3-3 performance.
I just posted on the Magic thread, 69FT% since December.

On a side note, Howard free throw percentage is 69% (!) since December.
Only we have to feed him better in the low post. I believe he can average 16-17 points with his high FG%.

Ok, Hornets and Bucks won, at least I hope Lebron takes care of business against Bulls.

Solid payback win with a balanced effort. This game showed pure Hawks basketball in both sides.
Even the most criticized Baze and Delaney played pretty good. I still hope that Baze eventually will find his groove. We are moving the ball and shooting with more confidence, it shows on the 3PT%.
Lets keep it rolling.
GO HAWKS!

Awesome game though Its has been like a summary of this disconcerting and wild regular season.
I dont know what to think of this team anymore.
