  1. Everything depends on who selects. Fans selected AI and KG. Coaches selected Al Horford.

Stern selects the injury replacement. Media doesn't matter.

Stern wants all the NY TV ratings. He also wants Josh's glamor dunks to become a permanent fixture of the AS game. The 2nd one has a long term impact. Lee is a free agent and Stern hates to drive up free agent price tags.

Sterrn's statisticians will let him know who to select. It will be 100% calculative.

Hopefully Stern and his statisticians aren't dumb enough to think that David freaking Lee would move the TV ratings needle one bit, but I wouldn't put it past them. I think even Knicks fans would rather see Josh. Smoove and his athleticism could put on quite a show in the all-star game as you said.

  2. I recall sweeping New Orleans last year and splitting with them the year before that. Salim gave him a showing his rookie season. I believe we were down by at least 20 in the 4th. We lost that game by 3 because Salim was hitting every shot but the last one. I believe Salim either had 27 or 30 points that game and I knew we had a diamond in the rough. If Woody would have continued to groom Salim instead of breaking and building em like his mentor does we could be having a whole nother debate.

Again in the NBA everyone has talent(some more than others) but it is the confidence, will, opportunity and work ethic that makes the greats great. I can only imagine us getting Paul for Woody to sit him after a great game for Lue or somebody because he would rather teach him the game from the bench. I can only imagine the ups and downs Paul would have had playing for a losing team and still not getting a chance to go out their and show his full potential. Woody's excuse might be that he didn't understand the switch defense or whatever. Than we may be talking about how Marvin's this great star in someone else's system with less talent around him and saying I can't believe we picked Paul over Marvin when we all knew he was the "best player" coming out of the draft. If we picked Sean May or Rashad McCants that would be debatable but Marvin is a very serviceable player on a great up and coming team (him being a big part in that) and will be an all-star someday.

    David West(All-Star?)

Peja(At least was a better than average shooter)

Tyson (Better than average shot blocker/rebounder)

Not really buying the better than average statement because you need key pieces on every team that can play these roles and they all were above average.

Like Billy Knight, Salim Stoudemire is another guy who remains unemployed.

  3. bla bla bla im a dirty ***** is all im reading. sign bosh anyway how about that. otherwise we're stuck with losing by 20 to the lakers cavs and c's on the road for the rest of our lives.

good idea! i'm sure bosh would love to come play here for the mid-level exception.

  4. Thanks North. But when looking for tickets I see AA on some of the listings. I like the very front row of a section. To sit on the very front row of any section I should be looking for row A right? What is row AA?

If the seats in the 100's I think row AA is basically super premium courtside. You can look up your exact seat location on hawks.com in the 3d virtual tour.

  5. Good for him. Sekou has been very kind to me personally (and HS in turn)

Since I got him to answer those ?s for us if I email him and ask him a question he always responds.

He referenced his dad in Michigan during one back and forth between us - perhaps he isn't married to the city of Atlanta.

I believe nba.com and nba tv are now run by Turner Broadcasting out of Atlanta, so Sekou, Smitty, and Micah Hart can make this move and gain a national profile, while also staying in town. Definitely a no-brainer. Makes sense that the ATL based guys are all jumping on these opportunities.

  6. Fortunately for Hawk land.

BK did not draft players for their personal accolades. He drafted players to build a TEAM.

What is the marvelous CP3's team doing? HA

    How about Foye's? Yeah right.

I like Roy. I still like BK.

    Childress... good player.

BK always said the same thing when it came to draft picks...

"We are gonna get a good player"

He never aimed for that lights out pick. He wanted picks that were low risk and multi-talented.

    It is paying off.

You simply do not win championships in the NBA without that lights out player. Detroit did it, but that's the only exception in probably the last 30 years, and I'm not sure you can even call it an exception when you consider they had Billups and Wallace in their primes. I'm not even sure what "low risk and multi-talented" means, but I would describe Chris Paul and Brandon Roy as more low risk and multi-talented than Shelden or Marvin. If it means "not an all-star caliber player" then I guess I understand.

  7. Fixed.

I admit it: I was wrong.

After tasting the piece of perfection I built from scratch and grilled to perfection today, it's safe to say that this debate is over.

Mods: you can close this thread now

A friend of mine forwarded me a link about a new burger place his friend is opening that's going to serve fresh ground burgers like holeman and finch. I think it'll open later this summer downtown. I'm interested in checking it out. I like the "grindhouse" play on words.

  8. So having Marv ready to play defense in certain situations will really hurt the Hawks? That is interesting there. Hey if Marv doesn't feel the need to be ready to go just in case for his team and in an important time of the season then so be it. All great players and players who strive to better find a way to be contributor this time of the year for their team. If Ben Gordon can go out there on a bad leg when he was doubtful and help his team. I don't see why in the world Marv cannot do the same. Just be there and ready to go just in case.

I'm not sure what you want from the guy. As others have said, HE HAS A CAST ON HIS HAND. You generally need both hands to play basketball. What is the point of suiting up a guy who can't play? Anyone would rather see Flip and Mo take those minutes, rather than a guy playing with one hand. Sure it'd be inspirational but it would lessen our chances of winning. Do you want to lose just so you can be proud of a guy playing with a cast?

  9. ^ BUT you CAN print tickets from stub hub at home too, just check each individual ticket on there and see if that option is mentioned.

I printed mine to a pacers game a while back a few hours before tip-off...

True, but only if the seller of the tickets has electronic tickets. If the seller only has paper tickets then you have to do last minute pickup. In any event, everyone just get your asses down to Philips tonight!

  10. I just want to know if stubhub is a reputable ticket dealer and if Phillips arena has a stubhub booth.

To continue the previous locked thread, stubhub is a reputable ticket dealer. They have a downtown location, but I don't think it's in Philips Arena. It's somewhere on Marietta St. They do charge a ridiculous fee for last minute pickup, though. In my opinion, your best bet is to get some seats directly from the Hawks (through ticketmaster) since there are still seats available. That way, your tickets will be at will-call or you can just print them out at home.
