I doubt CP3 gets traded, it's just speculation, since the GM was let go. If Bower and Paul had such a "sour" relationship (as the article states) than why would Bower refuse to trade Paul.

Yeah, lets trade Marvin just so we can pay Shaq more money to sit on the bench in a suit half of the year. Makes no sense to pay a washed up Shaq more than the MLE.

After Dallas' trade for Tyson Chandler and the resigning of Haywood; that scratches them off the list. He either take the MLE from the Hawks or Shaq gets on his knees and kisses Pat Riley's a**, in order to take the vet minimum from Miami. I just don't see Pat Riley taking him back after the crap Shaq talked about the Heat. Not only did Shaq piss off Riley, he also pissed off the owner, Micky Arison.

The Hawks shouldn't let Shaq force them to make a deal just to pay him more than the MLE. It's not like Shaq is even going to play 75% percent of the games; he's bound to miss significant time with some injury.

And Wretch proves the exact type of apathy I'm taking about.

Despite 3 consecutive playoff appearances, 90 home wins in the past 3 years, and our first 50+ win season in 12+ years, he STILL has only negative things to say about this team . . . despite us being in position to duplicate at the very least what we did this season.

The entire core from last year is coming back ( minus ) the coach that 90% of the fans hated . . and the apathy is STILL THERE.

Why?

Because we sold a dang 2nd round pick?

Because we traded Chill for peanuts, even though he obiously didn't want to play here?

Because "insert favorite scrub player here" is no longer with the team anymore?

Because we overpaid to retain our 4-time All-star?

The scrutiny this team takes, not only from the media, but also from the fans, is amazing to me. The Hawks could win 55 games, but lose to the 65 win "SuperFriends" team in Miami, and fans would STILL be pizzed at the Hawks like they were a below .500 team.

It's because the Hawks have no singular face to their franchise. Not a (hawks) player or owner is as popular of a figure as Arthur Blanks is in and around Atlanta. Teams need someone to be out front with the fans and media, that will discuss the issues of the team. No one like that exists on the Hawks; Joe Johnson is to mute, and you barely hear peep out of Josh Smith. Also, Josh is not as popular around Atlanta as some people think (on this board).

Mo Williams is solid and we need Shaq or Varejo. DONT FORGET the Cavs have alot of 1st round picks too.

Mo Williams is on the books for $9,300,000 next season and $8,500,000 the next two seasons (with player option in last 8.5 mil year). Again, no thanks to trading for Mo Williams. I much rather have Jeff Teague as the starter.

No doubt Josh Smith is unavailable to the Cavs. The Cavs don't even have a player in Josh's stratosphere. Just say no to Mo Williams, he was riding LeBron's coattails harder than anyone on that team, plus he can't play a lick of d. Maybe Marvin for Varejao, even though he can't slow D. Howard one bit.

According to source, Cavs would be targeting Marvin Williams and Josh Childress (at least). Josh Smith supposedly not available.

This trade works if Carmelo decides not sign an extension. The truth is that Carmelo wants to be mentioned with his peers (LeBron, Wade, and even Bosh), but he rarely is. Denver does this deal because they just watched what can happen to a franchise/fan base when you loose a superstar for nothing. Minnesota does this deal because they desperately are trying to get rid of Al Jefferson and with Dalembert they get a true center to put along side Kevin Love. Sacramento does this trade because after drafting DeMarcus Cousins; Jamal Crawford would have a greater impact on that team then Dalembert.

Now it's up to us (Hawks fans) to spread the word to make such a trade happen. Its time to let Carmelo know (via twitter, facebook, etc.) that in Denver his game will never truly get the media attention it deserves. Also, La La (his wife, come this Saturday) has some strong ties to Atlanta. She used to work at a radio station in Atlanta along side Ludacris and she is best friends with Ciara.

It's a shame that some people love to hate so much that they can't even see when someone is doing something positive.

I think we need people to stop being fans of players and being fans of a TEAM. I don't care if they trade any single player on the Hawks as long as it gets a ring or in a position to contend for one.

I agree, however the hawks should not trade Josh Smith unless it's in a deal to get a true star caliber player (Paul, Melo, LeBron s&t). The Hawks front office must get over their love affair with the so-called core players, in order to build a true championship contender.

We have to have realized that since he left, we lost some glue. He was a great glue guy for us. I think upon his return, he will be a 2nd or 3rd option.

Childress was the glue guy, yet the team won more games each year since he's been gone. Chillz was the glue of team; naw somebody been sniffing too much glue.

The thing that we know is that Chillz went overseas and became his teams first option and from year one to year two he showed great improvement. I think when Chillz comes back in the league, he will be better than the chillz that left. I can't say the same for Marvin. Fat Marvin has regressed now that he has his guaranteed money. He does just enough to get what he wants. He's a mess and we should trade him while we can.

Josh Childress was not the best player or first option on Olympiacos B.C. Linas Kleiza just came over to their team last season and he was Olympiacos' best player.

Nine years ago I sat in the bleachers of a high school gym in Santa Monica to watch one of my clients work out for a couple of NBA teams. It was shortly before the summer draft, and my prospect, a 19-year-old shooting guard from the University of Arkansas, had the ball deep in the corner with his back to the hoop. With two defenders all over him, Joe Johnson, all 6'8" and 225-pounds of him, leaped, spun and chucked in a line drive. Three seconds later he stole the ball and was double-teamed in the low post with no escape route humanly possible. So Joe did something inhuman -- making a 180-degree turn and lofting a perfect lob pass to a teammate beneath the rim.

On his way out of the gym, Michael Jordan -- on hand to scout him for the Washington Wizards - told me, "Mark my word: Joe could turn out to be the best player in the 2001 draft."

Well, the time has come to mark His Airness' words. With the possible exception of Pau Gasol, whom the Atlanta Hawks took with the No. 3 pick before trading his rights to the Memphis Grizzlies, Joe has fulfilled Jordan's prophecy. After the Boston Celtics drafted him tenth overall (the Wizards chose Kwame Brown with the top selection), Joe was traded to the Phoenix Suns. In 2005, Joe, a restricted free agent, signed a five-year offer sheet from Atlanta. (The sign-and-trade deal brought Phoenix guard Boris Diaw and two lottery-protected future first-round picks). This season he averaged 21.3 points a game and was named to his fourth straight All-Star team. Today, the newly-minted free agent announced his intention to resign with the Hawks for six more years.

When Joe came to Atlanta, the Hawks were NBA doormats, and not especially welcoming ones at that. Since his arrival, their record has improved every season. They've made the playoffs three years running. During the 2009-'10 campaign, Joe helped the Hawks to their best record (53-29) in 13 years. Only five teams had more wins.

Over his five years in Atlanta, Joe has established himself as one of the most formidable forces in pro ball. As a dynamic Mr. Inside/Mr. Outside duo, he and his young teammate Al Horford rank statistically just behind Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. The Hawks also have Josh Smith, who, at 24, is one of the league's emerging talents. There's a lot to like in Atlanta these days.

Before becoming a free agent, Joe focused on the Hawks, the Bulls and the Knicks. Chicago offered him a chance to play with the brilliant point guard Derrick Rose and a tough young center, Joakim Noah. A further incentive: the roster included Joe's great friend Jannero Pargo, one of his college teammates. New York has Mike D'Antoni, the coach who nurtured Joe in Phoenix. Joe loved playing for D'Antoni and was excited by the possibility of joining him in New York. It seemed like a perfect match: a tenacious player who never naps oncourt in the city that never sleeps.

When the free-agency period kicked in, Joe made a point of talking to the Hawks first. Their owners and new coach, Larry Drew, impressed Joe with their commitment to making the team championship-caliber. In turn, Joe felt equally committed to the Hawks, his teammates and the city of Atlanta.

With all his success, Joe remains as grounded as he was a decade ago at our first meeting in Little Rock. His priorities are his family, his friends and his game. Joe could have forced a sign-and-trade deal for five years with another team, but he decided that winning in Atlanta would be more meaningful. When the Hawks offered the maximum -- six years -- he happily reciprocated.

For his next act, Joe plans to actively recruit other top free agents to Atlanta, a place not unlike his hometown, where he feels comfortable and appreciated.

ASG don't actually own Philips Arena, just the operating rights. They are responsible for the arena debt (bonds used to pay for the arena) to be payed off. Agreeing to take on the arena debt (which was about 125 million when the ASG bought the team), is how Ted Turner got the arena built. The ownership of the arena is commonly confused by certain writers probably because wikipedia has it wrong. Philips Arena is owned by the Atlanta-Fulton County Recreation Authority. Also, this may be the best hire for your boy Smoove. Josh has always spoken highly of Larry Drew. The question now is what assistant coaches can Drew bring in.

Actually, from what I've heard Larry isn't much of a fan of the way the offense was ran (or wasn't ran) under Woody. We all know Woodson didn't give a sh*t about the offense.

ASG went with the cheapest coach they could hire. They brought the other guys in just for the media attention. One (maybe) positive is that this improves the chances of Joe Johnson returning.

Well, it's a fact that Lebron's friends ride with him on the plane. Heck, his agent is a high school buddy, his marketing firm is run by other high school buddies, and so on. In fact, his marketing company is either a front so he can receive money under the table, or just a way for him to make the money he pays his entourage tax deductible. Because I've never seen a worst website for a marketing company, just cliches and poor grammar. It's like a high school student watched Jerry Macguire and thought he could run a marketing business for athletes (which may actually be what happened here).

Point being, no one makes their entourage as much a part of a team's day to day life as Lebron does. Whether or not Ferry had a problem with that is a different issue, but the underlying point is true.

The problem with this article (any many from Yahoo Sports and AOL fanhouse) is that they are filled with half-truths. Some truth with a bunch of made up crap.
