off ball movement for sure.
Trae's month by month 3 point % from January was 37%, 37%, 34%, 34%, 24%. He shot 36% the season before on almost 10 attempts a game.
My point being the dude can shoot. He got worn out this past season like a lot of guys. He needs to be a little more selective in his threes of course but also his decline in accuracy those last 3 months also coincided with us having the best record in basketball. So Trae missing an extra three every game didn't kill us.
So him being more useful even as a decoy off the ball would be huge.
But this is becoming a pattern with him. He shot 38% from 3 for most of his all star season and tailed off later in the season and hurt his percentage. He could barely buy a 3 pointer later in this year, and that's a big problem. What I do like is the fact that he's started looking for his mid range game more. I love players with strong mid range games, because those are the guys that take you far. Analytic BS gets you booted from the playoffs

3 pt shooting over everything, and then off ball movement is a close 3rd....3 pt shooting is 2nd as well

I'll say just this. If Cam can legit beat out healthy Bogi for a starting role, then yeah, we're done and we're going to win titles.
Pump the brakes on the Cam train though....i was impressed he could made the impact he made in some of the most important games this franchise has ever played. However, greatness is achieved when you can contribute night in and night out, and when you add up the figures at the end of the season, they don't ever say things like 26% 3FG.
So, yeah Cam caught a serious heater. But was it just a JR Smith hot streak? Only time will tell.
Everything you said about Cam can be said about Bogi *shrugs*

I don't even expect all Hawks fans to have seen every Reddish workout, game time, press conference, etc, but for those that have been paying attention they can see the subtle shift in his attitude, body language, and confidence. There's a reason why NBA players talk about him like he's the real deal after playing pickup. It's starting to translate on the court and he's going to be a problem for teams for years to come
Most hoopers stand up for Cam because they know what he can do. There's a reason his draft class voted him as most likely to have the best career
You see stuff like this all the time

He had a great season. He's not built to be a starter playing a huge role, and it started to show the longer it went. I said before the season that he'd fit better as a 6th or 7th man, and he thrived there.

I'm sorry, i'm not holding on to old narratives and struggles that Cam had while playing under Lloyd Pierce. Cam played in 4 games this series, on the biggest stage, and was efficient in each one. He looked much better in the 1 or 2 games he played under Nate when Pierce was having his child earlier in the season. It's unfair to hold his play under Pierce against him while forgetting Bogi was booty butt cheeks under Pierce as well. Cam said Nate told him to "just play your game", and that he hasn't been told that in so long. That's a huge issue right there. I'm just not sold on Bogi as the starting SG. His 3 point shooting late in the season was nice, but he doesn't offer much else to warrant being that guy.

Brooklyn gave up so much depth and talent to get Harden just for it to backfire on them. I'll never be a fan of these types of moves. You wait until you start to develop a team organically then start name chasing for no reason. Kawhi wasn't always a household name himself. This is different than those old Hawks teams when it was clear that none of those guys were true stars or even had the potential to be true stars

I've already said that I'm giving him a mulligan given the circumstances.
But man...in the short look that we were given, it already looks as if Nate may have brought out a completely different side of him. He showed some flashes but never the side that he showed here.
Also, 'Killa Cam' is fine as his nickname, lmao. Not any of the nicknames suggested here.
The only reason I don’t like that one is because it’s taken. Cam’ron has gone by Killa Cam for ages. Let Cam get his own genuine one, and it’ll stick. Dudes are trying too hard. these nicknames remind me of Mike Bibby letting some 3 year old draw his tattoos
i did kind of like that Camborghini one Rashad Phillips gave him lol he’s been comparing his game to a Lambo since his rookie year

We need a backup PG - more depth at C,and if there's a shooter out there you can never have too many of those.
We need someone that can score inside within traffic. Too much finesse. too many missed bunnies. We go on scoring droughts consistently because most of our points come off jumpers when lobs are taken away

Players can decline after 2 years but can play if asked by their teams or if want to play.
That was said before they thought he’d get a chance to play in the playoffs. I’m sure nobody thought we’d make it this far. I doubt he plays now, if he does it’ll be like John Collins year two, when he played a couple of games to show he was a monster and then shut it down

Don't think that's an issue going forward. The way he talks in interviews lately is a bit telling. He's known to give generic answers but you can see his personality showing a bit now, he looks more comfortable. His body language on the court is really good too, I don't think he ever did in-game celebrations last season when he was playing well.
4 months off is damn near an entire offseason itself. It probably helped him mentally as much as physically

During the draft process I thought Onyeka was a top 3, I thought he would be slotted at the Hornets pick at 3.
Honestly think the Warriors made a HUGE mistake and if they had drafted Okongwu they would be in the playoffs and let me just say this, Curry and Okongwu would have been trouble.
We got him, they got Wiseman.
I thought if he was just 1-2 inches taller he would definitely be top 3 or at least there would be an argument for being the best big available against Wiseman.
Wiseman had the size but Okongwu had the versatility. I was always jealous of the bigs athletic enough to hedge ball handlers on the perimeter and even defend smaller guys in short pinches.

He’s gonna be a monster. I don’t watch college hoops much so I don’t really know the players, but when looking up the top prospects last year, I thought his game would fit the best. Great to see its working out for us

I ask this question when reading this thread. My hope is that you celebrated every big steal and three he had last night and that we all can enjoy more of them going forward.
you'd think fans would just want to see him play well. Didn't he do that last night? What more does he want? smh

No it's a greater point. Pero has an agenda and we all admit Bogi isn't playing well. However, that doesn't mean we should trade him right away because Pero has some affliction with the young core members he thinks will be traded or not get playing time because Bogi is on the team.
We should at least want to see how a healthy Bogi performs in another playoffs run to determine if this is who he is in the playoffs. Some players can play well through injury and some can't. Bogi at the beginning of the season was recovering from Covid and sucked. Then he caught fire. I expect the real Bogi to be between who was at the end of the season and the injured one we are currently seeing.
We can all agree he's not playing well and probably should get less playing time. However, trading him and saying he's always sucked is the point you are supporting from Pero. When BOGI and his play is one of the main reasons we got to the playoffs in the first place.
No it's a blatant deflection to take accountability away from Bogi being shook in the playoffs. The same as saying his struggles is 100% on his injury. You're talking about what another man said. He's not me. Talk about what I said. You can't say Bogi's early season play is the exception while his astronomical play in just April and May are the rule when he's never played like that his entire career. He's somewhere in the middle. Bogi's play down the stretch is a big reason we turned our season around. He was averaging 22 points on 50% from the field and from 3. Do you REALLY think he was gonna maintain that?
Bogi's numbers have been down across the board in every playoff series, but your response is "BUT LOOK AT TRAE!"? Is that not the definition of deflecting? Trae isn't falling from 22 ppg to 14 to 13 to 6, but look at Trae. 50% to 33% vs a trash team that didn't even fight back to dumpster

I disagree a bit. We need people not afraid to position themselves under Giannis. I watched How the Bucks lost to the Raptors in 2019. It was that the Raptors didn't mind getting in Giannis way early i.e. before he got the ball. Part of Giannis is still a Euroballer. This is the difference between him and Embiid. Whereas Embiid will run you over for a score (unless he's flopping).. Giannis will politely try to go around you. You aggravate Giannis by getting close to his personal space before he can get the ball and make a move. Once he gets going downhill, he's agile enough to get anywhere he wants to . I asked the other day who can be our Claw. But the real question is not our claw offensively.. not even defensively.. but who can be that guy who disrespects Giannis personal space....
That's right... The Bumpmaster Solo.
who cares if he's not afraid if he's not going to do it. You can't stay in front of someone while constantly reaching in like a child and putting yourself completely out of position. Great defenders only reach at the most opportune times, they don't just spam the slot machine and pray like Solo and John do.

Embiid is so big he can just stand there and move like two steps to get to his spot. Bogi needs to move a lot
what does his size have to do with it? Embiid wasn't clanking every jumper he put up
Stars and mainly role players shrink in the playoffs when the stakes get higher every year, but now Bogi's struggles are 100% on his injury? What a cop out. An injured knee can have your percentages drop a little, but it's not gonna make you blow fast break points after multiple defensive stops because you make the wrong play. Last night we had the break, one guard was on the other side, Clint was trailing for the easy dump off, and Bogi proceeds to get his shit stuffed by a bum instead of passing it. In the Philly series, multiple times we got a steal and he proceeded to make a stupid pass and turn it over.
This sounds as crazy as us believing Cam's struggles at Duke were 100% because of his groin injury, until he got here and had the same struggles

Why not have Bogi be the backup PG?
