    There was a great moment I think near the end of the Milwaukee game where Hunter was subbed out and he and Quinn exchanged looks on the sidelines where Quinn’s expression was basically saying, “See?”

    If he keeps up this level of play (and stays healthy), we are Dangerous.

    Trae Young - The Man, The Viper, and The Prosecution aka The MVP aka Ice Trae

    The national media basically ignored or were negative towards Trae his first few seasons, then the ECF run happened and they begrudgingly had to acknowledge that he was sort of good, maybe, but not really. 
     

    Then he struggled in the series against Miami and the narrative reverted back to wondering if he should even be a starter in this league. 
     

    Add in the historic media bias against Atlanta teams and players and there you have it. I’m convinced if Trae was drafted by the Knicks he’d be on his third All NBA team at least.

    That was really beautiful. Trae gave us one purely joyous moment in what has felt like a lost season. Love to see sad Boston fans.

    It is truly crazy that Trae didn’t shoot a free throw until the last two minutes of the game. He had multiple drives that should’ve earned him free throws. The TNT guys kept complimenting Boston on how they were able to play defense without fouling, which is hilarious. Just because the refs don’t call them doesn’t mean they’re not fouling.

  11. Should Nate be fired?

    Nate seems like a good guy, so it brings me no joy to say this, but that was the type of season, capped off by that performance in the playoffs, where you have to make a change. We’ve watched this team struggle to inbound the ball, handle any type of pressure, box out, etc. All year other teams, regardless of talent level, were just quicker to the ball than the Hawks.


    Whether that’s a personnel or a coaching problem, I’m not sure, but it’s the coach’s job to make adjustments when things aren’t working, and Nate never did. On top of all that, it just felt like our players regressed. I honestly can’t think of a worse outcome from the end of last season to today.

    I think it would be different if Bogi wasn’t getting the same amount of minutes or was sitting during crunch time. But that’s not what’s happening. He’s coming in as the number one option and he’s playing his best ball of the season.

    I don’t know why Kevin is such a different player coming off the bench, but he just is. The team is clearly better off with Kevin starting and Bogi as the 6th man. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    I was at this game. A few observations:

    1. It’s fun to see and hear the opposing team’s fans oohing and ahing for one of our guys. When garbage time hit, the guy behind me (Magic fan) said, “Let’s go. They’re not gonna put Trae back in the game.”

    2. I’m not a Capela hater, but the difference between his (lack of) touch around the rim and Okongwu’s is insane.

    3. Count me among those baffled that Bogi doesn’t want to come off the bench. It’s the perfect role for him, he’s thriving in it, and it makes our second unit lethal.

    My guy has talked around NBA circles of late

    All the whining about the Hawks not making a big move is comical. 

    It’s painfully clear Morey wanted Harden above all else and would only otherwise accept a massive haul of players and picks for Simmons. I’m sorry, he’s just not that good a player to warrant that. 

    Other than that, what are we crying about? Not giving up an unprotected first rounder to get Derrick White? Would that vault us into championship contention?

    The Hawks are currently in 10th place and 4.5 games out of 6th place in the East. Because of bad luck + bad play, they’re almost guaranteed to be a play-in team. That’s fine. Philly and Brooklyn are in desperate to win a championship now mode. The Hawks are not. It’s a better move to stand pat and build chemistry with their still very young core.
