  1. d*ck Bavetta sighting!! The refs are doing everything in their power to keep it close. Tonight's game should be a Boston blowout.
  2. From HawksPRMan's twitter: "The departures continue from the Hawks...the team just released C Garret Siler. Thirteen players now make up the team." So much for getting a Siler jersey this year...
  3. That's definitely Sund's MO...he loves project bigs. The biggest question I have is if we keep him does he ride the bench or get sent down to the NBDL to get some seasoning.
  4. From Hoopinion on last night's game: Joe Smith (left knee), Jason Collins (strained right quad), and Mo Evans (left knee) have yet to make their pre-season debuts. Jamal Crawford's (left calf strain) nine ineffective minutes Wednesday continue to constitute his only pre-season action. Garret Siler warmed up by his pulled right groin prevented his participation.
  5. Siler is a friggin' big dude and was bigger in person than I had expected. I'll agree that he has to show more, but when he wasn't out running high screens (which never seem to work when our big men come out to set the pick) he was actually being double-teamed by the Hornets. I don't remember seeing any of our other camp invitees getting double-teamed. Hell, most of our starters except JJ, rarely get double-covered. I'll be looking forward to the rest of the preseason to see how he pans out. In the right system, and with a little more experience under his belt, he's going to be nice.
  6. Keep in mind they've been going 110% in camp for days now and Woody doesn't give them much rest. Siler was clearly tired after a day or two in the previous camp (considering he was just coming off a active summer league), but when he was fresh early on, he impressed. If he only plays limited minutes the first couple of years, conditioning shouldn't be a problem. Regarding his FT percentage, he shot a 66% average, despite his awkward mechanics. Not great, but not horrible for a big.
  7. Right now, it's looking like it's between Hunter or Siler or Hunter and Siler. Mario probably won't make the cut this year.
  8. Signed players: Mike Bibby Jason Collins Jamal Crawford Maurice Evans Al Horford Joe Johnson Randolph Morris Zaza Pachulia Joe Smith Josh Smith Jeff Teague Marvin Williams Potential 13th & 14th spot players: Juan Dixon Othello Hunter Aaron Miles Frank Robinson Garret Siler Courtney Sims Mario West Mike Wilks
  9. Agreed. You would think the cash we got in the David Andersen trade might give the owners and Sund a little flexibility in how they handle RandMo.
  10. We currently have 12 on the roster. There is room, but we don't know what Sund is thinking regarding the remaining 3 spots. Sekou had originally reported that we would only carry 13 into the season but I'll bet that after camp we'll go ahead and have 14 since it's only 1 more minimum contract.
  11. Dude definitely has upside. It's just not clear at this point if there's enough room on the roster for him. I'm hoping there is, because even if he gets a bunch of DNPs, he's a huge body in practice for our front court to work against. That experience will pay dividends when we play Cleveland and Orlando.
  12. Unless that choice happens to be Courtney Sims. He's getting no love. Honestly though, I'm surprised at how close it's been between Rio, Hunter and Siler. I think all three guys have something positive they could contribute to the team, particularly in practices. It will be interesting to see how training camp pans out.
  13. Sure, I guess. I figured it would end up between Rio and Siler (Hunter has been a surprise so far) but I wanted to have at least one SF on the list . There have been several people who were keenly interested in having another min contract SF on the team and I figured Green was a decent candidate.
  14. Sekou has said that is likely we'll only carry 13 players into the regular season. AJC Hawks Blog With the recent signing of Collins and the improbability of Morris being bought out, our roster is now set at 12. Since we're remarkably deep with players who can fill in at multiple positions who do you think deserves that last spot? A project big, a defensive specialist, a 3-point specalist or something else entirely? For the purposes of this poll, Flip is not a permitted option.
  15. The internet is a wierd place... http://www.ustream.tv/channel/the-joe-johnson-show
