  1. We'll wish we had kept him. Been saying it for years, but whatever...hopefully this is all a part of a manuver to truly improve this team. Otherwise, this is going to sting.

Not really, he has not been on our team for the last two years and we have improved each year without him. We need a true center and Teague to be our PG of the future we sure as heck don't need another tweener forward on our roster.

  2. Gosh. I can't believe the ASG weren't willing to give a new contract to a coach that openly says he sacrificed the future and best interests of the team for present success (i.e., "I would have developed the rookie if I had security in my job and a perspective of putting this team in the best position for the future but I didn't" [not a real quote]) and then set the new standard for worst post-season series loss in NBA history in a #2 versus #3 matchup. Seems like we ended up with the worst of all worlds - a team that didn't set itself up for the future and set itself up for a disaster in the post-season all in the name of maximizing regular season success (which at most moved us from the #4 seed to the #3 seed).

Yeah the fact he held up our long term plans and potential success because of his lack of contract is pretty pathetic. That may have got him more season wins but it killed us in the post season. A more seasoned Teague would have come in handy in the playoffs.

  3. Why is childress a douche because the Hawks weren't willing to pay him as much as other teams were?

He is a douche cause he split to Europe while still playing here on his rookie contract holding us hostage with his salary cap hit. He has not given any indication he wants to play here even though we have improved a lot over the last few years and we have a new coaching staff. He could have handled his want for more money alot better then he did without screwing us over.

He obviously is not a team player he has no interest in seeing our team succeed and we should wipe or hands clean of him asap.

  4. Typical Hawks move giving up Childress who was the 6th or 7th player taken in the draft for a 2nd rounder. This is why we complain the Hawks many times don't maxmize the resources they have. Blown draft picks (Marvin instead of Paul or Williams) over paying on players Marvin and JJ it goes on and on. At least go get a big an improve the front line what many people want.

How are they giving up on him? He walked out on our team and has held us hostage for a few years and just simply does not seem to want to play with the Hawks even though we are an improving team with a new coaching staff. Screw him, he screwed us over and if we can get a bag of chips for his sorry *ss more power to the Front Office.

  5. Sooo...We gave up Chillz so we can draft another foreign dude with a funky name in 2 years?

    Awesome...

Well chillz is pretty much a douche who would have never come back to play anyway, even with a coaching change and 2 seasons where we dramatically improved without him. Sorry but he is a douche for jerking us around like this and at this point it is better to get something for him than nothing.

  6. We should start Jordan every game against miami just to let him dunk all over King douche some more where he can't take the video away. I think some of our own fans are sleeping on this kid, Jordan could be a premiere top tier star in this league fairly quickly.

  7. As young as Smith is and as much as he has already progressed I think we would be completely stupid to trade him. He has progressed every year and his potential is totally sky high he could be a legit superstar. I simply do not understand why anyone is talking about trading him

We should hang onto to Smith and Holford no matter the cost and build our team around them.

  8. While Josh Smith is probably my favorite Hawk, we need to make a big trade IMO and Josh is probably our best trade bait to acquire a top tier player, given that he is still young and on a very reasonable contract.

But Josh is pretty close to being a top tier player himself. Why trade a guy that young with that much potential that is already a key part of our team. Get rid of Marvin but we really need to keep Josh and Holford.

  9. I wanted joe gone and think we paid to much but realistically we had no choice, if we did not sign him there is no possible way we could have paid for a comparable player and we would be a worse team next year. I cannot fault the hawks on this one there really is no one we could have got that would replace him. I hope we get a legit center and the new coaching staff finds better ways to utilize the talent we do have.

  10. Wow I would not like this at ALL, it would be a 1 year rental on a player that is a shadow of his former self that will probably sit out more games that he plays would prevent us from picking up a younger longer term center. A quick fix that probably won't help anyway. We should avoid this he is close to retirement anyway, who says he even last an entire year?

  11. You know where Im going here. The Knicks swept us even though the Hawks had homecourt. It appeared the Steve Smith and Mookie teams had run their corse so Babcock blew it up. Traded Mookie for Bimbo Coles and the pick for Appleturnover Terry, traded Smitty for JR cropduster Rider and Jimmy Jackson. 10 years later we made the playoffs again. DO WE REALLY WANT TO GO THERE AGAIN? I am not saying dont make changes but please dont lose Joe for nothing and blow up this squad. They are all still young unlike Mookie and Smitty at the time they were traded.

So what are we supposed to do? I don't want to blow up the entire thing but JJ and Woody need to go however it seem no matter what we do with JJ it screws up our cap for along time.

I would like to build around Holford, J.Smith, Teague and keep Crawford and even Bibby around strickly for the bench. Everyone else can be replaced as far as I'm concerned but it seem we are probably stuck with M. Williams contract.

Sad but it seems our cap is so messed up we have no viable options.

  12. I don't want him back, screw him, we have seen what he is capable of in the playoffs and it is not pretty and not worth the money. Even during the season he is way to streaky to be counted on as the #1 star player for this team.

Him and Woody can simply walk away for all I care.

We can probably get swept in the second round of the playoffs every year without paying Joe what he is demanding.

  13. After how bad Joe played people are still sticking up for him? We can pretty much pay any shmoe off the street to shoot this badly during the playoffs. Why should we pay him to completely suck at crunch time and then lash out at the fans because he can't shoot?

  14. If JJ walks, then the Hawks get stuck in mediocrity where they are not contenders, and don't get high draft picks. When a team becomes mediocre, you are just wasting time if you do not blow it up and start the rebuild cycle.

If JJ stays then we are saddled with a contract that does not allow to do anything and we are stuck with this mediocrity. JJ's contract will handicap this team and we already know he is not a superstar player that can elevate us past more talented teams.

  15. I don't think this team needs to be completely blown up. JJ needs to be a sign and trade he needs to GTFO of this team now. Woody needs to be fired. Smoove needs a serious sit down with the new coach and he needs to buy into the system and the new coach needs to get him to play less sloppy. If he can do that and mature a little bit more smoove, horford are who we build around. We also need to get everyone playing at their proper positions and get some big 7FT center in here to start.

If we can do that we are in the finals within 2 years.

  16. He's All-NBA. I think he's "got it."

At this point he is all talk, and then he walks next season. We will take a hit next year in wins but we will be much better off in the long run without Joe holding our team hostage with his contract and without Woody having no coaching ability.

If he wanted a max contract NOW is the time to earn it. Joe needs to elevate his game to over come a team that is better than us. That is what Superstars do. He is not doing that.

  17. Joe is not capable of single handedly putting this team on his back and doing enough to over come a better opponent like the Magic. He is simply NOT one of those players, he is a very good role player that has a very streaky shot but he is not a superstar.

Time and time again we've seen him talk the talk then have horrible shooting nights.

Sorry I'm pretty much done with him, he can walk this off season for all I care and sign a max contract with the Knicks if he wants.

  18. Come on now. Who hasn't had some tough shooting games this year? Kobe, Wade, Paul Pierce? Be serious. The one thing about Joe is that even if his shot isn't falling he doesn't get frustrated. He cames playing at the other end of the floor and does whatever he can to help win. Would you rather he be "handicapping" another Eastern Conference team????

He has had more than his fair share of games this year where his shooting is either horrible or he totally disappears in a game. Hey if he wasn't demanding MAX money this wouldn't be an issue but if he wants a monster contract that is going to prevent this team from signing future players like it seems he is he better bring his A game all the time. Sorry he is a #2 player not a teams #1 star player.

  19. I've seen Joe in a teammates face on 5 different occassions this series. I have seen Horford in Joe's face on 3 different occasions this series. I saw Joe telling Marvin to "shoot the ball!" In game 6. This team is getting there. I can't wait to beat Orlando. The media what throw a sh#t fit if they get a ATL vs BOS ECF. Haha

So is Joe going to put his money where his mouth is and accept a good paying but team friendly contract that does not handicap this team for the next five years? My guess is he goes to the highest bidder and we may take a slight dive next year but end up better off in the long run. He played decent defense today but he has had alot of games this year where his shooting is pathetic.
