  1. If a deal goes down for Melo and Billups to either NJ or NY, I would assume that Denver has gone into rebuilding mode. If so I would think Nene would be available. If so would you do a Smoove for Nene trade (assuming Nene signs an extension)?

I think with Nene and the propose trade for Sessions. We now could start to have a balance lineup of:

    Sessions

    Johnson

    Williams

    Horford

    Nene

Depending on what we have to give up for Nene we could still have Bibby and Jamal. Off the bench.

    What do you guys think?

    P

I would do Smoove for Nene in a heartbeat, but I'm prejudiced since I'm Brazilian. Nene knows his role and doesn't hurt his team trying to do too much. Since Smoove has greater upside I believe it would be fair we bring Shelden back for Etan. At the very least Shelden can play backup PF better than Powell. I would try and bring JR Smith (expiring) as well for Zaza's a$$. There would be nothing else I would be interested to take from Denver.

So Smoove - Zaza - Etan for Nene - JR Smith (exp) - Shelden (exp) would be ok for me. We get two bigs and someone to play SG/SF (expiring roughly 7 mill).

So considering we could get Sessions for Teague/Mo/pick:

    Sessions (36) / Bibby (12)

    JJ (24) /Jamal (24)

    Marvin (24) / JR Smith (12) / JJ (12)

    Boss (30) / Shelden (12) / Marvin (6) / Powell (-)

    Nene (36) / Boss (6) / Collins (6)

I believe we could do some noise with this.

  2. For some reason this made my night. Never have I been at a bar and every patron spit out their drinks collectively in laughter.

    fdr1b9.gif

Truly was an entertaining night all around which is all you could ask for especially after last year's debacle of losing the shooting stars, Pierce winning the 3point shootout and sitting through the worst dunk contest in history.

LOL Paul missing the layup was hilarious.

  3. I dont like him at the 3 either, but since he refuses to play like a PF anymore you might as well let him play the 3. This new josh thinks he is reggie miller and refuses to go inside.

If Smoove refuses to play @ the 4 then trade his a$$ for an improvement at Center.Hell, trade him a for good PG if needed. We'd be better off with Al playing PF fulltime anyway.

  4. The Hawks do need to try and shed some long term salary if they want to bring Jamal back and I think that they do want him back so this doesn't surprise me, especially if we're committed to Josh at the 3. We clearly still need an upgrade at the 1 and 5 positions and Marvin should be able to bring us an upgrade at either.

Eh, if I had to choose Marv or Craw, I would take Marvin all day. Craw is useful only when his shots are falling (pretty rare occasions nowadays). Marv has shown some game after being relegated to be bench and he actually plays some good D and has no fear in attacking the rim.

Trade some bums (Etan, Powell, Teague, Mo) and a 1st for Sessions, then Craw for some help at the 5 and we're set. Let's have Bibs and Marv coming off the bench along with Craw Jr and Zaza.

  5. I think they need Jamal more than a Powe, X. Henry, and Moon combination any-day. The Hawks do need more bench players which is true but Jamal quality>>>quantity. Flip Murray was nothing like Jamal. He was barely even a NBA player outside of Atlanta letting him be a true combo G. Flip wasn't a much better defender than Crawford and didn't create headaches for defenses like Jamal. Jamal wins us games, Flip loss us more than he ever won us. Selective memory my friend.

There are about 15 teams that would have paid Joe the same thing. Some in his right position as a #2 robin type and some as their #1 like the Hawks. It's not like there are ten SG's who can do what Joe does. There aren't.

I am not going to disagree and say Jamal is not one dimensional because he's very one dimensional but he's an elite one dimensional player which is why he started in this league for so long and why he's elite off the bench.

No comment to the second paragraph, I think your making too much out of it but hey.

I agree, the Hawks aren't close to impressive. The league outside of eight teams aren't close to impressive. I agree. We both talked about it before but we really need a superstar for one or our core guys (keep Al) or another very good player to add to the core. Three very good players with one who has serious BBIQ and consistency issues aren't going to take you far in the NBA. We are too much like the Washington Wizards when they had Gilbert. They had a superstar, an all star, and two good players. We have three All Stars types and a good player. We need to get a very good or elite player some kind of way. Chicago got Derrick Rose, that solidify them because his ceiling is much higher than Joe, Al, or Smith. We don't have anyone currently with superstar potential or even the potential to improve leaps and bounds. Teague is our best hope and he should top out at Jamal's level. Jordan could be solid but nothing special. If NYK get Melo, then depending on what's left of their team we are likely 6th seed. We will never be this good again with this roster and we aren't even that good. The East is getting much better and we are staying the same which means we are getting worst.

    :thumbsdownsmileyanim:

Selective memory? Yes... Yours. Jamal shoots us out of games much more than he wins them. We're talking about THIS season and Jamal's PRESENT value. The guy is crap, he hurts us way more than he helps us. Only LD and you can't see this.

  6. This should be do or die for LD, he's already showing how incompetent this team can be under his instructions. I don't miss Woody but, I wish we had a real coach. It's about time coach Drew would do something, anything, to stop this bleeding. His so-called "motion" offense doesn't work anymore.

That's too bad ASG won't bother firing him, he's so cheap after all.

And Jamal... oh man. So many of us love the guy but, for each game he wins for us, he shoots us out of another three. Time to look who else we could have. We have enough jumper-happy guys, time to look for a post presence... or a real PG. Can't stand Bibby anymore. His shooting wasn't that bad tonight but, freaking Shawn Livingstone went for 20+. A scarecrow could guard the guy better than Bibby did.

Makes me wonder whether isn't it time to rebuild already. We're going nowhere with this roster. :shake_puter:

Really disappointed. Craw Jr could give us the win. LD is ridiculous.

  7. I think what the Heat did is really bad, I thought what the Lakers did in that trade for Gasol was bad as well (MEM got lucky with Marc), but all this conversation about Cleveland getting screwed by LolBron and Boozer is BS. IMHO, Cleveland deserved that.

I believe the maneuvers they did to land Jamison last season were just as harmful to the league credibility as the other deals I have cited above. Trading away the Big Z and then just waiting for waivers to clear, signing him back on the cheap just a month after that trade... that was dirty as hell. Therefore I have no problem with LolBron and Boozer turning them down.

I think the Cavs are the most dishonest franchise in the NBA, I really hate them for that and I would like to see them screwed for the next decade or so. :line dance:

  8. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4e5x3ca

    Bibby-zaza-Mo-Etan-2011 2nd to NJN

    Murphy-Farmar to ATL

Right now we have only one useful PF and that is Al. Smoove don't wants to play at the 4 anymore. The other ones are crap.

I for one would like to see Murphy in a Hawks uni for a long time now, If healthy the man is a huge upgrade over Zaza and Powell, he used to be a double-double machine until last season, and his 3 pt shooting would help creating space for Al or Smoove in the paint. I would give him a try, and if this desn't work, at least we have another huge expiring, which means we would be able to resign JC1. If this works and Murphy proves he still can play at a high level we could try to resign both of them @ lower salaries. Bring back Pop Secret and some bench warmers from the D-League and we would be set.

  9. Well all of this crap about Craw being so good... then 30+ minutes, 2 points and 5 turnovers. That's why we can't start him. He's just too inconsistent and I woukd rather have him traded as soon as JJ comes back. I grew tired of all the times he shot us out of the game.

  10. aw, c'mon, the offense is fine when run correctly. Problem is when the second unit hits the floor, the wonderful awesome God's gift to the Hawks Jamal Crawford does nothing to help the guys out, Shot after shot after shot, he is the one hurting us the most.

  11. Shouldn't we have these type of games in the bag??? Playing a team on their second of a back to back while we have had 3+ days of rest? The performance for the first two quarters and a half in this game was a total debacle. At least Miami lost to Memphis tonight. We need somebody to give Josh and Horf some help because we are basically wasting All NBA play by these two guys the last few weeks.

The help they need has a name: Troy Murphy.
