Please tell me your kidding. Starting lineup? In place of whom? JJ, Teague, Hinrich> Stuckey...I think he is an OK player but there is no way in this world that he would be a starter for us. Maybe in 07 when we drafted Law instead of him, but definitely not today.
  3. Kings just got Hickson from Cavs for Casspi. Now I believe they have Cousins, Dalembert, Thompson, Hickson, and Whiteside. That seems to be one too many big men. Dalembert is of course and unrestricted free agent so that's probably why they made the trade, for insurance in case Dalembert walks. If we can go after Dalembert he might be perfect for our team, length, awesome defense, good rebounder and shot blocker. If Sac thinks they can resign Dalembert, then we can try and pry Jason Thompson from them for maybe Marvin and change. I personally think Thompson is a solid young player but I feel that out of all the centers out there not named Dwight Howard, Dalembert is in a tie with Tyson Chandler for best fit at center for the Hawks. And you know Cuban isn't gonna let Chandler go so I'm thinking we sign n trade with Sac for Dalembert using Marvin, or maybe Crawford in a sign n trade if possible because we don't have the money to sign him outright. Thoughts? c- Dalembert pf-Horford sf-Smoove sg-JJ pg-Hinrich/Teague(reason I put both is because I know half of us want Hinrich to start and half want Teague, didn't wanna start controversy here :-)) That is a very strong defensive unit IMHO ps I have wanted Dalembert for a few years now and I remember we worked him out in the year that he was drafted and if I'm not mistaken we had the 26th or 27th pick but didn't end up taking him and the rest is history.
  4. Crap!!! That's what I was afraid of. We seriously need to give up Marvin for an expiring contract...anyone, I don't care....he has zero value on our team. I'm sick of people talking about his defense...it's overrated...he's overrated...period...I don't care where he was draft...he sucks he sucks he sucks....I tried to stick by him for 6 or 7 years but I'm done....he's done...ship him out and free up some cash...
  5. Now I know that he is an unrestricted free agent and he can sign a deal with anyone outright and they don't have to deal with us in a sign and trade or anything. But my question is that if we just let Jamal walk, does that mean we would have some kind of extra money to sign another player, even if it's not all the money that Jamal would get elsewhere. And if not, then what's the difference between us signing him and not signing him, wy wouldn't we just sign him then. Does it save us money down the line somewhere? Also, if we go ahead and do a sign n trade with a team for Craw, doees that mean Craw would be able to get a more lucrative deal? If anyone could help me out on this I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I was watching NBATV earlier tonight and they were running down the top free agents(restricted and unrestricted)...Crawford was #6 by the way. Antonio Davis mentioned the Hawks and the Celtics as teams that Nene would benefit the most. But like everyone has mentioned, there is no way we could sign him outright without a sign n trade scenario. I would love Nene, he would be the next best answer after Dwight Howard for us, however we have to remember that Nene as well as he has played the last couple seasons, has been injury prone before that. Not saying that I would not want him, but it's something that has been a part of his past. Having said that, I think a good trade for both teams would be Smoove and a resigned Crawford for a resigned Nene and a resigned JR Smith. Denver has Mozgof from the Knicks trade, I mean I'm not sure if Denver would start him, but he did start some games for the Knicks this past season and they could shore up their PF with Smoove while we ran JJ, Horford, and Nene in our frontcourt with Hinrich, JR Smith in the backcourt and Teague coming off the pine. C-Nene/Collins/Benson pf-Horford/Zaza sf-JJ/Marv sg- JR Smith/Damien Wilkins pg- Hinrich/Teague I think that team is an upgrade to what we had this past season and would be even better in the playoffs...perhaps 3rd round of NBA finals...thoughts?
  7. I agree with Cap and Coach here....We are in win mode right now and as good as Teague was in the Chicago series, I think you have to go with Hinrich as our starter and use Teague as the spark off the bench. Specially if we end up losing Craw which looks likely to happen. With a full training camp with us, Hinrich will become a lot more familiar with our players and where and when they like the ball and will be able to distribute it to them. I also think Hinrich is more of a natural pure pg between the two. He also has an advantage in height, he is 6'4" as opposed to Teague 6'2". Teague will eventually be our starting point guard in the future, but for next season, it should be Hinrich's job to lose. Also, it's not that big of a deal who starts games, it's who finishes, just ask Jason Collins. At the end of games, we could easily run Teague and Hinrich in the backcourt, while using JJ, Smoove and Hor up front.
  8. Thanks a lot guys...great to be back!!!!
  9. Hey guys hope you are all well. I just wanted to let everyone know that this is my first post as Deke55 but I was formerly know as spud2nique and have been a part of hawksquawk for many years. For some reason I was unable to retrieve my password and account info for my old name so I will be posting and starting fresh under this name. I'm just very happy to be able to post again and even though I havent posted in a few months, I have been reading pretty much all the posts by everyone. Great forum, great topics, and I'm very excited to be back. Keep up the great work everyone. :-) Also, much thanks to Dolfan who assisted me greatly in trying to retrieve my old account and helping me with everything overall. He is a great mod.
