That would be amazing to see. What a concept! But it will take a superstar to get the locals interested enough to pack Philips. I'd love to see a rabid crowd at Philips that isn't cheering for the opposing team. Imagine a '07-'08 Atl vs. Bos Playoff series atmosphere every home game.

The city of Atlanta doesn't get any love from anyone, aside from the Braves. It will be funny to see how many people will hop on the bandwagon just because of a superstars presence. Hmm, expect more Hawksquawkers very soon lol

True but it's a sketchy move.have to agree with the article...its a scary call but i still say pull the trigger! if we get howard and we make a good run at the championship! i mean even if we come a game within the ECF howard would have to atleast reconcider staying with the hawks! and push for cp3! we have a better chance risking horford for a championship team than we if we keep him!

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1253497-nba-trade-rumors-atlanta-must-stop-pursuing-dwight-howardHe clearly doesn't want to come here, sure he and Smoove are friends but he isn't even on Dwight's top 5 list to play with. Also we would be losing our key centerpiece in Horford, he is the only true star on this team. The only reason the Hawks haven't done the deal is because Horford hasn't even been offered thus far, the Hawks aren't going to get a commitment from Howard so what's the point in losing all of our assets for a rental? If Horford were offered Howard would already be in the ATL, the Hawks obviously have the best offer. Unless Ferry has a secret idea then I don't see the point, other than getting terrible contracts from Orlando ( Richardson or Hedo ) and a complaining superstar in Howard. I can only guess that they want to drive ticket sales for a year, then just start the team completely over next offseason. I like what Ferry has done thus far so I have faith that he will make the right decision. I can imagine talks between Orlando and ATL: ( call it a LOL skit )Hennigan: "so far you have the weakest deal Ferry, you just wanna give scrubs from Johnson trade plus picks... What about Horford?Ferry: "What about Horford? Im not interested in trading him without a commitment from Howard. What about Ivan Johnson? "Hennigan: "Who the hell is Ivan Johnson? Sounds like a scrub."Ferry: "He's no scrub, he is one of the strongest players I've seen... Plus he flicks off Celtics fans."Hennigan: "......... I'll take your offer into consideration."

I'm just tired of hearing about it, either get a deal done or stop trying. I'll give Ferry credit though he knows how to hard ball.Well thanks to Dan Gilbert the 4 team blockbuster was blown up. Humphries would not go to Cleveland on a 1 yr deal so Gilbert was insisting on Brook Lopez to the Cavs. The Cavs were then going to send a forward to the Magic but the were not having it. Twitter is being blown up by columnists saying that if the Hawks want him, he's ours to lose. This drama is insane. I don't know who to believe. I just want this all to end so I can go back to being a productive member of society again. I CANT CONCENTRATE ON ANYTHING BUT NBA OFFSEASON!!!

Yea I just don't know if it makes much sense, the Hawks will end up having to give Horf and Teague plus picks and filler for a one year rental...AJC says we are still talking with the Magic so its not over yet.
-
We will see if Horford can create his own shotsBut now Joe is gone instead of Horford. Same situation basically.

Could but Ferry isn't stupid enough to throw away a bunch of players for a one year rental. If he doesn't wanna play here there is no point in wasting any more time on him.I still don't think it's over... even tonight, there are some fragile moving parts. I think the Nets are in a place where they have to go to incredible extremes to get it done. I think Ferry is smart to sit on the sideline and just let this thing play out, and if it can't happen, DH could practically fall in our lap.
-
I still think the Hawks could easily get the trade done, the only problem is Dwight wasn't willing to commit past this season. The Magic would trade hands down if Horford was involved but the Hawks never offered him. Good move by Ferry not to trade the whole team for a rental. Never actually offered him.I don't think so. Just wishful thinking on the part of a lot of our fellow-posters.

To the people saying we have 2 stars, you are false. Though Smoove put up the numbers he still wasn't an allstar. Also, you have to remember the only reason he put those numbers up were because Horford was out. Not saying he wasn't deserving of being an allstar but Horford is really the only true allstar on the team.

James Harden is good but he was terrible in the Finals, I don't think he is worth a max deal. Maybe worth around $13 mill a year tops. He will end up leaving OKC purely because I don't see the Thunder having enough cap to resign him.Joe Harden was a much better player this past post season and he's only 22. The fact is you need a guy who can score in iso situations and James Harden is that guy. Will he leave OKC ? That all depends on what he's motivated by. Does he want to be third fiddle in OKC ? Does he have the desire to be an All Star and more than a Sixth man ? Does he want to another shot at a ring with KD and Westbrook ? I don't know, but he's just as much worth a max contract as Joe was when he left phoenix.

Youre grammar is T-1 bro. Couldnt even spell Magic... Mine is too aparently I just used the wrong *your loli think the majic on crack weed and beer and some halusugen beacause no other gm would make this trade
-
He loves super, big market teams. He loves making that bankhey david stern still has to aprove of this trade look what happend to la lakers and chriss paul
-
Let's be honest Im not sure if anything can get us out of the 1st-2nd round regardless. This city has a curse.Yes, we can land some good players. But good players don't get you out of the second round. We might as well have kept Joe if the plan was to sign someone like Harden.
-
I didn't realize there were ANY Hawks fans outside of Georgia. There are little to no fans even in the metro Atlanta area... Its so terrible.I won't need to waste money on NBA league pass this year
-
There are some really good free agents available in 2013. Now will any of them come? Possibly we will have roughly 2 max deals for 2 good to great players to come. Though I don't think Curry, Harden, or Ibaka are worth max deals. Plus I doubt Bynum would come here after being in the spotlight of LA. But still we can land some good players next year. The Hawks will never build a contender through free agency unless it involves Howard and Paul (which it won't, obviously).
-
Still we have to give him 1 more year to see if he develops. He isn't terrible but we will see how he does. You have to give players a 3 year interval after being drafted.Teague sucks. You can't build around him.

http://blogs.ajc.com/hawks/2012/07/09/atlanta-hawks-hawks-out-of-dwight-howard-sweepstakes/Looks like it's because we aren't willing to give up key pieces for a 1 year rental since he isn't willing to resign with anyone other than Brooklyn. which Im completely fine with, lets just get who we can this year. Go out and compete and hopefully have better luck in free agency next year. Plus Smoove may be traded soon as well now, I think Ferry only kept him around in hopes that he could lure Dwight here but obviously not even Smoove could convince him. Time to build around Horford and Teague.

The proposed trade between Orlando and Brooklyn would give Orlando Lopez, 3-4 1st rounders, SHELDEN ( srub ) Williams, Luke ( bench warmer ) Walton, and Damian James. I mean I realize thats where Dwight wants to go but Orlando needs to do what's best for them right now, they have to remember Dwight is screwing them over. I just don't see how this deal is the best, but according to sources the Hawks haven't offered Horford yet so maybe Ferry is hard balling until there is almost a deal set. Then he throws Horford out there ( assuming Howard would sign extension ).But it looks like the deal is pretty close to finalization there are talks of Magic getting ready to examine Lopez's foot, likewise Nets are doing the same with Howard's back. Which doesn't mean it's over for the Hawks just yet, but they better step up the offer if they still wanna land Howard. Below is the link to info on doctor examinations.http://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA

It's not over til it's over, remember the Magic are the only team that needs to be satisfied in this situation. It's not about where Dwight wants to play until next year. It'd about the best offer, the Hawks still have the best offer.
