  1. As everyone knows, both Gary Payton and Karl Malone are headed to the Lakers, Zo is probably headed to either Dallas or San Antonio, Kidd is probably headed to San Antonio, the T-Wolves have made themselves a lot better, and the Kings are still good enough to win a Championship. With this said, how do the Hawks go about reshaping their team? Building a team that is a contender to win the East is totally different from building a team that can even compete with one of the top Western teams. I've always thought that if the Hawks just went out and picked up two good defensive minded role players to start alongside Terry, Reef, and Theo; and revamp their bench with one or two new guys they could have a very good team without spending a lot of money and without affecting team chemistry too much. But now, with the top Western teams putting themselves even further ahead of the teams in the East, should the Hawks just unload everything they have now and try and build a team that can match the competition out west or stay the course that their on now and just be happy to get into the playoffs and make a run at the east while rebuilding their fan base.
  2. Kobe is doing the right thing. He is trying to see just how dedicated Shaq is about getting back into shape and what kind of help the Lakers organization is trying to bring in to take some of the burden off of its two superstars. I think next year will be his last in L.A. because Phil already seems to have on foot out the door, Shaqs seems to be addicted to cheeseburgers, and the Lakers don't have enough cap room to bring in a third weapon. To be honest, I really think Kobe will end up in Memphis. As for the Hawks, they'd have to start the process of dumping salaries now if they want a shot at Kobe, that means we would have yet another crappy season ahead of us and let's all be honest.....what superstar would want to come to a loosing team that can't even feel up a high school gym let alone a world class arena like Philips.
  3. Although I think I understand where you're coming from when you say trade Reef I don't agree with you. By trading Reef in an attempt to save money in the future we're not doing anything but hurting ourselves. You have to start thinking just how many more years can Phillips Arena sit empty and how much longer can you make the fans wait for a winner while you try and save up money for a superstar talent that may never come. I seriously think we should focus our efforts on brining in two defensive minded role players that can compliment JT, Reef, and Theo. In these three you have two consistent scores and a slightly above average center (there's no center in the league that can compete with Shaq so let's work with what we have). It would be a lot easier and lead to a lot more wins in the near future than going through the trouble of tanking the next few seasons in order to try to get a free agent the caliber of Kobe, KG, or TMac.
  4. Playmaker0017, I agree with you, I think this team should make an effort to build around Reef. I also, think that JT and Theo should be thrown into the mix. Everyone else in my opinion should be put on the first thing smoking out of town. Let's all be honest, DJ probably isn't coming back, Ira isn't a starter, Dickau is too small and to slow to be an effective pg in the NBA, Nazi is inconsistent and the only trade bait we have, and everyone else on the team sucks (pardon my French). Instead of trying to get big name players to come here (like we did with Glenn) we should be focusing on getting players in here that are good role players.
  5. I know it would never happen but I see Glenn fitting in well with a team like the Lakers. He'd be a great third weapon for them and would take some of the pressure off of Kobe and Shaq (who really needs to get himself in shape this offseason). The only problem is the Lakers don't have anything that we need in order to make the Hawks a better team now. Which brings me to this question, are we trying to make deals that will help us this upcoming season or are we back to building for the future?
  6. I agree with you when you say we should trade Robinson but unfortunately i feel that he want be going anywhere anytime soon. Everyone knows Glenn is a great shooter but since he doesn't have the ability to create his own shot, he doesn't play good defense, and he has a large salary I see him as an Atlanta Hawk for a while. Don't be mad though, just think of him as the new John Koncak!!
  7. Have there been any new rumors on whether or not the Hawks will go after a new coach or just hold on to Coach Stotts? I'd personally like to see 'Nique get a shot, things can't get any worse and plus him being put in as head coach might actually bring a few fans back to Phillips Arena.
