I also think he has superstar potential.. but what do I know
I hope not and just don’t see superstar potential with his lack of creation and averaging less than 1 apg. I like him but definitely not at #1.

Sarr isn’t a center either
Yikes what? Sarr isn’t a consistent shooter (I think he has potential) and you think he’s a 4? Lol
How could anyone watch basketball in this era and think two 7 footers who are low volume shooters would work together? Wild….again terrible terrible spacing and Johnson isn’t a 3.

I like the idea of trading Murray for the spurs 4th or 8th pick and keeping our first pick.
Lets address our big man issues in a draft where teams are looking to get out of the lottery due to the so call weak draft class.
#1 - Draft Sarr
#4 - Draft Clingan (If this is the pick Spurs trade to us in a Murray deal)
or
#8 - Draft Edey (if this is the pick the Spurs trade to us in a Murray deal)
Why would they draft another C? Sarr isn’t a PF and Johnson isn’t a SF. Horrible spacing.

Robinson is the type of asset I'd wouldn't mind seeing us get back in these types of trades. He isn't playing this year but he should be back next season on a reasonable contract.
He shouldn't cost all that much given the injury risk with him (he hasn't played in 37% of games through his 6 years) but we don't need him to be good this year as long as he can contribute next year.
I'm not ok with CC+DM for Grimes, Robinson and first round pick that is projected to be a late first round placement but if we are going to focus on next year then trading CC and filler for Robinson and Fournier would be an interesting idea (for example).
Yeah sorry I’m not doing that. I need at least one high ceiling asset.

I’d do this deal and run!
mitchell Robinson is the best offensive rebounder in basketball and top defensive center!
I’d do that and run!
Robinson is out for the season most likely he has no value to me, grimes hasn’t been good and wants a new contract + more PT….and only 1 pick which is probably not even a lottery pick? I’m firing fields if he does that.

Grimes would be a better fit next to Trae than Murray, so I can see why Grimes and 2 FRPs would be something to think about. My biggest hang up is helping the Knicks. F them.
Grimes has a -8.6 on/off. Hes a negative player because he’s terrible offensively don’t want him at all. And those picks are non lottery

Randle been pretty good this year. Doubt they are offering that.
Hes a poor fit anyway

Knicks assets are meh, a bunch of picks but all from good teams. They have nothing appealing…Grimes is meh too. Their fans also think they’re getting him on a discount so they can trade him for Dmitch or another star in the off-season. lol

I think the roster is better in some ways... Better on Star power, hustle and defense...
But.... This team is weaker in FT effeciency, less depth, no post up scoring and mediocre shooting.
People can say that the Holidays technically shoot decent 3pt percentages, but they aren't sharpshooter or potent enough scorers to make teams pay.
Gallo and KH were enough threats that they could drop 25 on some nights.
Nobody is afraid of the Holiday's... Late game offensive execution is going suffer probably.
If Collins wants to be a scorer on the team he will have to do it from behind the 3pt line.
I think a 3rd wheel is where he fits best as a starter.
I don't he should be a feature scorer as a starter or as a 6th man.
He doesn't have the post scoring, creativity or the handles.
He needs to accept that he is an effecient role player and not a 20 PPG scorer on a good team.
I mean JC wasn’t really 2nd wheel just because he’s been the 2nd leading scorer…. Check the usage. He was at 20.5% last year….this is 4th option type on some teams. Even in previous years when he put up 20-10, it was more 3rd option type. He’s never really been a normal 2nd wheel… so he should be good with the third role if he’s not traded and his numbers could stay around the same (hopefully closer to last year stats though) The only thing that’s changed is his role bc of Capela who pushes him farther out from the basket. You won’t get 20-10 from JC…but at least the duo is impactful together overall.

If we're keeping Cap, I'd want to keep JC.
If we're bringing Ayton in, I'm good trading JC because there's a lot of overlap there in their games. Unleash OO.
I think JC and Cap overlap more. At least offensively.
I hope hawks keep him and don’t sell low. Don’t want a downgrade and a pick.

Scotto: Sacramento is likely out after taking Keegan Murray in the draft, and Portland just traded for Jerami Grant unofficially, who plays the same position as John Collins. There have been rumblings about Collins not being totally happy with his current role.
Kirschner: From talking with people since the draft, it seems like the market for Collins has decreased quite a bit. Now, I’m not really sure who’s interested in him… As it stands now for John, the market has definitely dwindled down for him. It’s not a possibility the Hawks just keep him. The Hawks aren’t going to just trade John for nothing. We’re talking about someone who’s a really good player.
Scotto: Rival executives around the NBA I’ve spoken to believe a potential extension for De’Andre Hunter down the line could be in the high teens or close to $20 million annually. Those executives have also gotten the sense from talking to Atlanta that Hunter is a part of the team’s core going forward with Trae Young and Onyeka Okongwu.
Kirschner: I think the Hawks want to get something done with Hunter. They want that wrapped up heading into the regular season.
Scotto: Ayton has been linked with the Hawks in a potential sign-and-trade scenario. The Hawks, I’ve heard, want to create more playing time for Onyeka Okongwu. If there was going to be a trade package for Ayton, I don’t know if John Collins would be in that. I think certainly Clint Capela would be a possibility as a true center and someone who played with Chris Paul.
Kirschner: I’ve heard from multiple people that the only way the Hawks would pursue Ayton is if he could be had on less than a max contract. If that’s the case, it’s certainly possible Phoenix retains him and tries to rebuild that relationship with him.

I don’t know if the Pop comments regarding Ayton are real or not but apparently Pop expressed some real excitement wanting Ayton and stating that Ayton is a max player with lots of talent that he’d love to help turn into a Superstar.
again I don’t know if the comments are true or not but if they are… it’s funny how pop a legend can see the big time talent in Ayton that hasn’t been used and sees him as a max player but there’s some on this board that has the audacity to put Ayton and Collins on the same high end potential level!
smh…as good as JC is he is overall he is not Ayton offensively even right now in my opinion. Ayton reminds me so much of the Joe Johnson phx trade situation. It’s an all star level player just not getting the opportunity. Once Joe Johnson got here and he got more opportunity, became Iso Joe a multi time all star. That’s going to happen to Ayton at his next destination I guarantee it!….I will keep preaching it! I’d sell the house to get Ayton here and rebuild in the middle of Trae & Ayton. The hardest thing when building a champion is getting the two stars. Once they are in place you can add best fitting role players in my opinion.
we are not winning a championship next season we have time.
Huh? You think Ayton isn’t getting the opportunity but JC does? Ayton has more usage than Jc did this year. Both were treated like 3rd/4th options.
Ayton has the 4 perimeter guys playing with him at all times. Perfect fit around him offensively. Collins doesn’t fit great with Capela and hurts his number. Bet any amount throw a meh fit around Ayton and his numbers would go down. I like him but not seeing JJ at all.

Yeah but when it comes to the playoffs you need 1 or 2 guys that you can hand the ball to and say get me a bucket. We only have 1 in Trae.
You can do that with Randle but Jc can’t imo.
watching these finals in particular illuminates the need for iso scorer’s.
Yeah because Randle has really shown you he can you a bucket in his only playoff appearance. Randle can shoot off the dribble on poor efficiency. Not in the same stratosphere as Trae in that department.

Totally disagree!
Collins style fits better in a team oriented system!
But Julius is the better individual talent!
And it isn’t even close!
No he isn’t. Every advanced stat has Collins over Randle for a reason. You’re overrating him based on counting stats which isn’t the right way to look at things. Randle shoots 17+ shots a game + has led the nba in mpg last 2 years. Of course he puts up points. Not a fan of scoring 20+ on poor efficiency, turning the ball over a lot, poor defense ….

I absolutely hate the idea of watching Collins numbers/usage going down and then trading him. Hawks aren’t going to get = value back. No one at 7 I’d rather have than him. This isn’t a winning move at all.

That money is not as restrictive as it seems particularly with a rising cap and for a player who is effectively going to play starter minutes throughout a season. Knicks want him gone because of his ineffectiveness as a primary option, which would not be an issue if he’s playing the Gallo role for the Hawks.
Who’s to say, maybe he’s had enough of the bright lights as the star? Maybe he’s had enough of the media pressure from the big markets? Maybe he just wants to be in the best opportunity to win, play basketball, be with his family and will worry about his next contract towards the end of his current extension?
Randle needs the ball in his hands. He’s not good off the ball with his lack of shooting….not sure why Knicks wouldn’t just make him more off the ball if that would be his best role. Also he’s not getting starter mins with Collins. Hawks don’t need a 25m backup PF for the next 4 years. Hawks need help on the perimeter not expensive backup PF who doesn’t make a high impact. That isn’t putting the team over the top.

Randle would be beyond perfect in the Gallo role.
If all Randle is costing you is Gallo then I don’t see any issue.
Because you don’t pay someone 4 year 117m to play Gallo’s role. Hawks are already tight on money and Randle will be considered one of the worst contracts (a lot already consider him in that category) in the league. Would be a disaster. Again Knicks fans are praying to get rid of the guy for a reason.

Right.
But someone on the bench is going to be making a lot of money. That's practically a given. Odds are today that it's BogBog.
BogBog not making 25m a year. Not to mention he was expected to compete for a starting spot when he was signed.
Donovan Clingan or Alexander Sarr: Battle of 1st overall pick

Yep and he's poor around the basket. Sarr is far ahead of him for me.
