  1. Totally agree. I wonder if a few years ago Rockets fans weren't having the same conversations? Seems like Morey was making deals to ensure his team had the 9th seed every year. But, he kept collecting assets until he could parlay them into Harden and then Howard. Not saying we will have the same success, but it does seem as if DF has the same mentality - collect assets (draft picks, good players on decent contracts). It's disheartening that we missed the CP3 and Howard boat, unrealistic as it was. But, that just means we have to wait a little longer to be in the championship mix. Better than banging our heads against the 2nd round of playoffs wall with the same crew and expecting a different outcome.
  2. Good question. I was thinking about future draft picks (seems to be all the rage know), but I like the suggestion of just trading Stevenson for them. Again, I think this (or any other trade) works if a team wants to get rid of salaries.
  3. Just wondering about using our cap space for a trade (not a SNT) rather than on a remaining free agent? That is, would Sixers give up Evan Turner if we took on a "bad" contract such as S Hawes? In this case, we'd need to use our existing cap space (~$8.9M) plus renounce D Stevenson and replace his $2.2M salary with a $500K veteran (saving additional $1.7M). We could also keep Bebe overseas and replace his $1.4M salary with a $500K vet (saving ~$900K). That savings could net us a package such as Turner/Hawes (8.9M + 1.7M + 0.9M = ~11.5M). Course this assumes we get a point guard for Teague's $6M cap hold. The only way this makes sense for the Sixers is if they want to start fresh and not pay an extension to Turner next year. I like it for Hawks because I don't like the current free agent crop and hesitate to put all our eggs in luring someone from next year's free agent class. Turner has shown glimpses of good play, and Hawes can be a serviceable back up to Al. If you don't like the Turner/Hawes package, then how about using the cap space we can potentially clear for some other trade? (D Williams from T'Wolves perhaps?)
