  1. I'm torn. Millsap would be great to keep around the youngsters but it would mean we are stuck unless we somehow dump bazemore and Howard.

Then on the other hand we ain't beating bron for the next 2 years so why not just full blown tank? Just keep tim dennis bembry and prince.

Somebody got a decision to make.

..and we see how that worked out. The Hawks should know better than to trust the 'market' after they were pressured into giving Baze his deal when the likes of Crabbe and Evan Turner got those moronic contracts. I love Sap's mentality and his game but we can't keep repeating the same mistakes out of desperation and expect different results. Investing super max dollars in Sap when we know he's had problems with both knees at age 32 is a HUGE risk. But if we do re-sign Sap for some insane $$$, then Baze absolutely has to go.

I don't think you read what I wrote right. Millsap will get 4 year offers. He would not entertain coming back here on a 2 yr deal when he can lock up long term security at his age. Whether that's with us or not is besides the point.

I have a great grasp of how free agency works. I didn't do any numbers just throwing the idea out there.

2 or 3 year no one is signing Sap to a max deal past 3 years I'm sure of that.

Joakim noah got a 4 yr deal with 2 blown knees and low production. Every team outside of us would gladly sign him to a 4 yr max. Shit he was about to go to the magic to get his max contract so being on a contender isn't even an issue for him

So you think Sap is more likely to stick around to play with Dennis than to play with Butler?

You are hard headed. That team would be no better than his current Indiana team with little to no flexibility once all the assets have been traded for him. If we aren't competitive neither player would stay.

Delaney would be our starting pg for crying out loud.

I have no issues with not dealing Horford or Sap.    And I'm not sure the Bulls or Pacers would have really pulled the trigger but there is a price for everything and we know that not having a star player is and will continue to be the Hawks problem.   A chance at one in his prime like PG and Butler?  I can't see not including Dennis in the deal.  I agree that wouldn't entice Indy but i think it would've enticed the Bulls.

If you make a move like that, jimmy or Pg13 wold bolt as soon as they found an opportunity because the team wouldn't be good anymore. You trade the farm for one of those guys and we become a lottery team. It's a catch 22. The best option is to wait until the offseason when their prices go down.

I cannot see a world where the Hawks are moving THj at this point in time. Now Timmy, is worth more than 2 of those picks. He is locked up next year at just over $3 million (a pittance) and producing more than $15 million a year Bazemore. THj is currently my favorite Hawk, the closest thing to a clutch player that we have and at $3 million a year, a better value than anyone on the roster. Indy would have been fools not to take a deal with Hardaway involved.

Because of how low his salary is, THj was by far our best commodity and was probably the sticking point to a deal. I would bet Indy wanted him + the picks and we said no.

Tim is a free agent at the end of the season.
