  1. i love Demarre , but for 10 million, i would let him leave... If you pay him 10... how much do you pay Millsap?

if Ferry Is still wit us, I trust him to find a cheap replacement that will fit in well with the team.

10 million is overpaying for him. This Hawks regime is all about giving fair deals instead of overpaying like under Sund. I'd give him the same deal Ariza got this summer, a front-loaded 4 year 32 million dollar deal. They're close in age too and have the same impact for their respective teams.

Millsap, I'd give him a similar deal to what Boozer got when he signed with Chicago (5 years 80 million). I don't think the Hawks can offer him a 5th year so that would make his deal 4 years 64 million.

  2. Millsap signed a short term when he signed with ATL. He's 30 now so I assume this is his last chance to get a major pay day, especially coming off two back-to-back All-Star games. I think he'll take a front loaded deal like Korver and Thabo did starting at $15 million a year.

DMC like Millsap, signed a short term deal when he signed with ATL. Although he's 28, this is only his 2nd season as a starter so he can only get better in the Hawks system. I assume he'll sign a front loaded deal starting at $7 million a year. I see him in the same tier as the prime Ariza and Prince.

  3. You clearly watch the game through bias glasses if this is how you really see Pero. SMH

Yeah Pero is underrated. I admit I was hard on him early in the season but after paying attention to the stuff he does that doesn't show up on the stat sheets like setting screens, the spacing he provides when he's on the floor and his play making ability, I can see why Bud trusts him.

  4. One of the biggest strengths of this year's team is depth, however, other teams don't have that luxury. Some of the bench players the Hawks have could probably start on other teams. I know it's unlikely the Hawks would deal one of their starters but what if a team offers a 1st round pick for Dennis Schröder or Mike Scott.

I see Schröder in the same mold as George Hill (Spurs), Darren Collison (Hornets) and Eric Bledsoe (Clippers), backup point guards that could netted their former team more assets. Maybe Scott could be a starter a stretch 4 starter like Draymond Green. Thoughts?

  5. ???

If Teague has been inconsistent, what was Al Horford back in November?

Teague has arguably been the MVP of the Hawks this year.

Getting his chemistry back down with the team. Korver would be my MVP of the Hawks pick. If you exclude the first Hawks/Cavs game, he has an impact in every aspect of the game from his 3 point shooting, help defense, rebounding and play making (which is an underrated aspect about him).

  6. Defense health and depth.

We were 1-8 in games without Demarre and 1-10 in games without Kyle.  I believe we were 2-6 or 2-7 in games without Millsap.

Just go look at the games that we played in December with Al last year.  Our offense was elite.  The problem was our defense was bad.

Our injuries were far greater than just Al last season as well.  We played well when we had a starting five of Teague/Korver/Carroll/Millsap/Antić.  We finished the year on a 10-2 run when those 5 started and 5-1 against playoff teams.  We then took a good Indiana team to 7 games.

inb4 people come in with their nonsense about the Indy series only being close because Indiana forgot how to play and then suddenly remembered how to play in their next series vs Washington.

I agree. Antić is an underrated player. He does his role well but he's no Al Horford. Hawks don't have another center who's a match up problem like he is, quick, threat from the mid range and solid defender, literally can mirror Millsap's play while playing alongside him.

Yeah Hawks substituted offense from defense, making the move getting rid of Lou and bringing in Thabo so the Hawks can always have an elite defender on the floor throughout the game which they didn't have last season.

  7. WAIT! Not sure if Teague should even be considered for the honor, but when is the last time a Hawks player got an MVP chant? Who? What year?

Did JJ get one the year we won 53 games? Otherwise would it be Dominique the year he was traded?

Same thing I was thinking. I'd consider Korver and Horford for MVP chants.

  8. Charles Barkley just said on tnt that the Hawks would only make it to the second round. He says the Wizards and Bulls are still better than us. Wth

I understand Charles. A Bud coached team has not made it out of the first round, Hawks have to prove it. Playoffs is a whole new season. I think the Hawks could beat a healthy Wizards team but I'm not sure how they'll match up with a healthy Bulls team, we've yet to see this year's team play the Bulls team completely healthy.

  9. Do you think that Korver, Teague, Millsap, and Horford should play in New York this year for the All-Star game? Each of them have risen their games to an incredible level and are the main reasons why we have a 5 game lead in first place in the Eastern Conference. Will the coaches in the east recognize their value?

No, just Korver, Millsap and Horford. Teague has been inconsistent this season. I can recall several games where he was outplayed by Mack and Dennis. However, I can say he's outplayed Wall, Kyrie and Lowry, when he faced up against them. Some strange reason he struggles against Jennings of all people. More than likely I could see Teague, Millsap and Horford making it.

  10. Oh wow I had no idea he was offered a long-term deal. If anything, I thought he was underpaid leaving Utah. I guess he signed a short term deal as a prove it deal to get an even bigger deal in ATL or elsewhere.

Millsap is definitely worth more than 9 mil a year. If I was him, I'd sign a one year deal so he can get one last pay day in 2016. IMO, he's the best PF in free agency for 2015 and 2016 (if he signed a 1 year deal).

  11. I have been reading some of the threads recently and over the last month. What I have notice is that some people speak of Adreian Payne as if he is or will be a bust.  I have read everything from Muscala will be a better than him, Payne is not Athletic to Walter Tavares showing better IQ than Payne during the Summer league games.  My question is if Payne is still this Raw after 4 years in college, why did we draft him?

I think Payne will be fine. I just wonder how he'd fit in the rotation. I can't see Antić and Millsap leaving next season and they still have Horford and Scott under contract next season so I'm wondering would he literally be playing next season as much as Muscula did this season.

For somebody to be drafted as a 1st round pick, I figured there could be a situation where he could be a legit contributor off the bench if he isn't being groomed to start, not until his 3rd season with the way things are looking. Scott's contract is not guaranteed for the 2016-17 season.
