  1. I am not trying to be a Dead Horse into the Ground but I am just wondering if anyone knows or has any thoughts on if the Hawks have any interest in signing Robinson.  With the signing of Lamar Patterson and Terran Petteway is that a sign that the Hawks don't really have any interest in signing him or could it be that Robinson wants to pursue other teams for better options or could the Hawks still be trying to work out an agreement with him?

I am by no means an expert on the Hawks (Although, They have been my favorite NBA Team for a very long time!) or Robinson but for some reason I think he could be a very good fit and addition to the Hawks roster.

  2. Just curious on who you think will make the Hawks final 2015/2016 Roster (Assuming that all the players are either currently on their roster or played on the Hawks summer league team and also assuming the Hawks will keep 15 players on their roster).  I am sure I will be way off but this is my very amateurish guess:

      Centers:                         Horford, Splitter, Tavares

      Power Forwards:            Millsap, Muscala, Scott

Small Forwards:             Hardaway, Sefolosha, Bazemore, Robinson

      Shooting Guards:          Korver, Mack, Holiday

      Point Guards                 Teague, Schröder

It was really hard for me to pick between some of the Summer League Players (Robinson, Ashley, Patterson and Petteway) but I just really, really like Robinson if the Hawks only choose one player from their Summer League Team.  I will admit that I was tempted to leave off Scott and/or Mack but in the end I just couldn't do it.

  3. I keep reading this threads saying "We need a SF now that Demare is gone", but please keep in mind that no one was excited about our SF crop this time last season. We all thought Thabo would be the man and look how things turned out...

With that said, GR3 was the type of player who always defended well in college at Michigan and he scored his points without plays being run for him...If we put him in a pass happy system like Atlanta, which coincidentally is what Michigan ran during his first two years and the team flourished.

Now I'm not comparing college to NBA, but there has to be a reason Bud brought him in at the last minute. Hardaway Jr. and GR3 reunited in Atlanta could be a nice future...I hope he makes the team.

I hope you are right!  I think he could be a really good addition to the Hawks roster!

  4. Any updated information on how Muscala and Tavares are looking in the Hawks game tonight against the Warriors?  I know it is just Summer League but I am still very interested in hearing how these two players are performing!  Maybe, I am overestimating their value but I think Muscala and Tavares will be very important players for the Hawks in the very near future!

  5. I thought I read somewhere that Robinson signed on with the Hawks summer team?  If that is true what does that mean with him in regards to being a Hawk?  I will admit that I don't really understand the NBA Summer League very well!  Just because a player is on an NBA team's summer roster does not mean they are actually on that team???  A player (Unless it is a player actually on that NBA team?) is free to sign with any other NBA team at anytime?  Are there any benefits (Other than being able to get a closer look at the player during practice sessions) for an NBA team to have unrestricted players (Like GRIII on the Hawks) on their teams?  I like Robinson and I hope the Hawks do end up signing him to a contract! Does anyone think the Hawks will sign him soon?

  6. I watched all the summer league games last year and I was really impressed with Edy. Obviously he is a giant and can block shots and grab boards. The thing that impressed me the most about him though is that he has only played basketball for a few years and he is more skilled than a lot of the American big men that have been playing their entire life. For instance... DeAndre Jordan shoots below 40% from the free throw line and I know that is rare in the NBA but Edy shoots close to 70%. That is pretty amazing for a guy that just picked up the game a few years ago.

DeAndre Jordan has no offensive game whatsoever except dunking. He rebounds and blocks shots at an elite level but he has no offensive game to speak of and can't hit the broad side of a barn when it comes to free throws... yet.... he just got paid a crap ton of money because he can rebound and block shots.

Edy only played about 22 minutes per  game in the ACB and he was 1st team all ACB which is the 2nd best league in the world. His Per 36 minute stats average out to be like 13 points... 13 rebounds and 3 blocks. He is only going to get better... we could have a real gem here guys.

Totally Agree! Getting Edy to Atlanta is by far my favorite offseason move by the Hawks.  While I really like the Splitter addition I will admit that I was not too excited about the Hardaway trade (But, I am starting to feel better about it).  But, getting Edy to agree to terms has me very excited about the Hawks inside Game (I haven't been able to say that for many years!)!  Between Horford, Edy, Splitter and Muscala (Although, it won't surprise me to see at least one of them traded before the season begins) the Hawks inside game should be in good shape for years to come!  And, like you mentioned, I think Edy has only touched his potential and he will only get better (Hopefully, a LOT better!) with more experience!

  7. Research is always good, no matter what board you're on for whichever of your teams... but don't take it too hard, Nole.

Thanks sturt!  This post has definitely been a humbling experience!  Hopefully, I have learned and will research before I post again!

  8. Now that the Hawks have added Tim Hardaway Jr, Tiago Splitter, Walter (Edy) Tavares, Marcus Eriksson (Probably Overseas) and Dimitrios Agravanis (Also Probably Overseas) along with the re-signing of Paul Millsap who do you think will be the next player (If, any!) the Hawks will add (Free Agent, Trade, etc) to their roster?

I keep reading Wes Johnson could be that player and I think he would be a good addition to the Hawks but who (Leandro Barbosa, Omri Casspi, Glenn Robinson 111, etc) do you think the Hawks will end up signing or trading for in the upcoming days?  I guess I will go with the rumor I have read most and that is Wes Johnson.

  9. What is wrong with what we have.  I believe some of you propose making moves because FAcy is here.  As I look at this team... Here's what I see:

    Horf/Splitter/Walter

    Sap/Muscala(?)/Scott

    Thabo/THJr/ Daye (?)/Patterson(?)

    Korver/Baze

    Teague/Dennis/Mack

Now if we stop right here... knowing that Thabo won't be with us to start the season, we should all feel alright.

I see the Sf position as being handled by Scott, Baze, and THJr to start the year... and that is matchup dependent.  Smaller matchups, we use Baze or THJr.  Larger Matchups we use Scott and some Sap.

I see the SG position as being capable of being handled by Dennis, Mack, THJr. in a pinch.

    The unknowns are:

    1. Will we lose Moose and/or  Daye to the Splitter trade?
    2. How good will THJr be and how long will it take him to pick up the system?
    3. Will Baze gain enough strength to play more SF?
    4. Will Thabo and/or Korver miss more than the first month?
    5. Will we call up Patterson?

If we stopped right here and didn't make another trade or pickup, I'm fine.  I really like our size in the frontcourt.   I really like our depth.  I really like our ability to control pace.

I think without DMC, we will be a little more passive on offense.  Less shots from behind the arc.  However, with THJr, we have the ability to have a guy who can put the ball on the floor better than DMC could.

If someone is traded, I would think it may be Thabo.  Simply due to his rust and nondurability.

IF we did make a trade, I would see if I could pry Ariza away from the Rockets.

He's a guy who can hit the outside shot and plays good defense.  Moreover, money to money, I don't think that the Rockets want him more than they need a playmaker.

I will say that I feel much better about the current Hawks roster than I did a few days ago!  And, I will not be upset if this is the roster that starts next season but I am greedy and am hoping the Hawks can sign (Or, obtain in a Trade) at least one more quality player (Preferably, a SF) before the season begins!

  10. Can anyone tell me how much Cap Space the Hawks have (If, Any!) to sign another FA (SF?) or two?  I will readily admit that I have no understanding of the NBA's salary cap (Teams can go over the Cap Space/Luxury Tax under certain conditions/situations?)!

And, IF, the Hawks actually do have some salary cap available which FA players (Wesley Johnson, Glenn Robinson 111, etc) do you think they should be trying to sign?

  11. I will confess that I was pretty depressed after the Hawks draft (I was hoping the Hawks could move up or if they stayed put select either Kaminsky, Dekker or Portis)! I will admit that I was not real excited about the Tim Hardaway trade at the time but I am starting to feel better about it the more information I get on him! Then, I felt a little better after getting Splitter (I think he will be a Huge Asset to the Hawks!)!  But, then I was elated after the Hawks were able to sign Tavares (I kept reading that he was getting ready to sign a deal overseas and the Hawks wouldn't be in his plans for a very long time if at all!) to a contract and bring him to Atlanta!  I don't know what the Hawks are going to do for an encore but I am thrilled with the additions of Tavares, Splitter and Hardaway AND the re-signing of Milsap (Although, a very expensive contract I think the Hawks really needed to keep him if they want to progress next season!)!

Personally, I would give the Hawks a A+ for the past couple of days (Wild Days at that!)!  I am very, very impressed what Coach Bud has accomplished over these past couple of days and this is coming from a huge Danny Ferry fan!

  12. We are keeping moose

We will trade Mack or Scott before letting moose go

I hope you are right!  I would hate to see the Hawks let Muscala go as I think he will be a very good player for the Hawks in the near future IF they keep him!

  13. I just read an article (Actually, I think it was right here on Hawskquawk!) that gave me the impression that there is a very good chance that Tavares will be signing a contract with one of the European teams and if he does this article made it sound like not only would he not be coming to the NBA anytime soon but the Hawks could (Would?) lose their rights to him!  Hopefully, I read this article WRONG!  I would hate to see the Hawks lose his rights!!!

Below is the article I was thinking about:  I am guessing I either read it wrong or interpreted in wrong.  Either way, I certainly hope Tavares eventually makes it to Atlanta (As a Hawk!)!

    Tyson Chandler
