So about that trade negotiating consultant...
Really hope this is part of a bigger move.

That 4 pt line is scary as far as what our coaches are getting. That line encourages and rewards the longer shots. Not sure why that would be necessary. At all. The only circumstance I can see for using that is for teaching defensive principles where your perimeter defenders are not playing close enough to their assignments in the backcourt and you want to punish them in scrimmages if they don't more closely mark their man. It shouldn't be a tool for shaping how the offense flows.
It’s for spacing.

So . . . do you shut Trae down tomorrow? This is about as high as his stock is going to get in Summer League, unless he gets Summer League MVP.
The Lakers rested Lonzo Ball for the championship game, despite Lonzo really getting into a groove as the Summer League progressed.
Ball got hurt and Magic said no more lol. Trae should play as long as he/the coaches feels comfortable playing.

Success begets success. Hiring people from the best organizations is not a practice invented by the NBA or Schlenk. Corporate America has been doing this since the days of Du Pont, Rockefeller, and Henry Ford.
Another note on what Schlenk has done, he has put us back in the national media. It has been decades since we were talked about this much in the national media. Schlenk is not afraid to make the big move that makes a lot of noise. Last off season season it was trading Dwight Howard to a division rival no less. This off season it is moving down to take Trae.
Go Hawks!
Indeed, the other day I saw Trae Young in the lead off highlights for ESPN.
Now obviously they quickly shifted to bashing his shooting numbers, but hey nobody in sports media has cared enough about a Hawks player in a while.

Why do they foul him? Make him finish at the rim, don't bail him out.
He's like IT. Small guys that end up on the ground a lot are gonna get calls.

Wendell Carter looks really good. In great shape.

Why did we pass on Mitchell Robinson again?
Major attitude red flags. His talent was never a problem.

This Knox hype is classic NYK shit. How many of his makes were just open dunks?

I get that kids want to do the hero ball Curry does, but if he would just copy Steve Nash instead, we got something.
I liken them more to Westbrook types of hero ball threes lol. Kind of rushed and panicked looking.

If Young would just use his range to keep the defense guessing, and use his passing as his #1 offensive weapon, he could be a real threat.
Exactly this. He's gotta establish that he can and will take those bombs and that'll open up the offense. But sometimes feels like he's taking them just to take them.

Trae's passing is special. The open threes will fall eventually.
You can tell he's lived in Oklahoma his whole life though because he has a lot of Westbrook in his shot selection. My thing with him is you gotta let him take some of those bad shots but it's all gotta be under control at the same time.

I do not like those long shots ... that is very low percentage shot to be taking
Having a guy that can make those at a respectable clip (Trae can when he's not in a slump) is so valuable to an offense though. His main thing will be finding the right time to take them, I don't like when the Hawks get a stop and he fires that up in transition. Teammate's wasting their energy.

Omari Spellman literally thinks he's Draymond Green lmao. Fun to watch.

This roster is fricking miserable.

Frank Ntilikina tomorrow. Trae playing well vs him would buy a lot of good will because this dude has given top NBA talents problems.
Was listening to Chouinard's podcast, Hawks practice environment for Utah was apparently not ideal.

Maybe have Dennis and his crew jump Trae in. That'll toughen him up

I will say Trae's gonna need another ball handler and refine his offball skills. Wish Bembry was here, maybe he helps generate some (more) open looks for Trae and this slump doesn't happen.

I hate to say this . . . but Pierce may have to shut Trae down, in order to preserve his confidence. When I say shut him down, I mean . . do exactly like Dallas is doing, and not play Trae in Las Vegas.
Meh, he's in a shooting slump. Gotta shoot his way out of it.

Once again I'll probably come away from the game feeling like I would feel really good about Trae if he just makes the shots that he should make. The deep bomb threes are one thing but he's out here even missing free throws.

These guys would crush any college team but they suck as far as SL goes
Nope, Wenyen Gabriel is giving us all we can handle.

You cannot convince me that last year's pathetic Kentucky team wouldn't beat this team. I mean they all look like they forgot how to play basketball, so many airballs and missed open shots. Outhustled on rebounds, etc.
-
Trae would have more assists but his teammates, like him, cannot hit anything.
-
Agreed ^ lmao this is by far the worst team in summer league. I don't feel like that's a hot take at this point.

Reading Kings fans though they sound like this thread. The joys of passing on Doncic
Everyone's gotta relax a bit.
Schlenksanity! Lin to the Hawks...for what?

I saw a rumor of Melo to Brooklyn for Lin type deal the other day and that's the only thing giving me hope here.
