Schlenk is not giving up that pick! I’ve lost faith in that happening and have just look towards other things .

I was saying the same things you were but I never believed the pick was on the table in the offer before that last report came out .

I've changed course after further research I don't wanna give up the Nets pick.. I'm with Schlenk   why get Drummond bird rights now and have the option to pay for 5th year which would increase his demands, it would lessen our pick because we will win more games, he also has a player option which protects him from injury..We are essentially playing for nothing this year.. We get Drummond he gets hurt and we are essentially paying a guy to rehab because he would opt in.. Lastly we will have the most cap space in the NBA this summer.. Detroit doesn't want to pay the luxury tax so the 5th year is not an option for Drummond..we could offer him the full 4 year max and are a more attractive destination than Cleveland.. We could probably get him for a discount.. There really isn't a market for his skill set any more.. New York will potentially have Money but aren't really interested in paying full max for a dinosaur center.Memphis? No   Raptors? No and the rest of the league is essentially called..

  3. I think we Definitely Need Drummond and Want Drummond..Atlanta knows that offering the 1st round pick now for Drummond would only give the Pistons leverage in other trades..The pistons wont make a move on Drummond till at or near the deadline they will hold out for all they can get..At that point we will offer the 1st round pick/Dead money and try to pry Drummond away..

The pistons currently have 132 million tied up in salary this season..Keeping Drummond past the deadline is risky with potential injuries..He has an op in for 28 million which would put them in the luxury tax again for the 2020-2021 season..

I just don't think we need to out bid ourselves early.. I think that the dead money/pick we can possibly offer  is more attractive than the Pistons taking on additional seasons with Randle and Ntlikina..

We really don't need 2 rookies next season  with the young prospects we currently have which would make the Brooklyn pick expendable..Acquiring Drummond now would lead to an uptick in wins which would lessen our chance at the number  1 pick..Waiting near the deadline to make best offer is better because it allows us to lose more games for the number 1 pick and also put us in a position to get Drummond at a bargain with dead money and Brooklyn pick..Waiting is the best course of action..

Getting Drummond now  for a test drive is good because it allows us a chance to see how he fits in..if he doesn't fit and enter Free agency.. We still could possibly end up with a young center in James Wiseman..Acquiring Drummond really isn't that risky if the price is only dead money/pick..The key is to continue to drive the asking price down till at or near the deadline..

Well nothing is guaranteed but I dont think a deal is done for a 4 month rental.  Like Sturt says most likely no playoffs this year.  Yea there are teams that could sign him in free agency if he wants to go that way but they are playoff teams for the run and wouldnt give much for him, for example Toronto.    My understanding is he and Trae are good Buds.

He really doesn't fit the scheme for today's NBA center, he is a low post bruiser.

We will be one of only a few teams who will have cap space. If we get Drummond now we have a great chance of resigning him..I think he will be a good fit..JC can play with anyone due to his great inside out game..In games where we struggle with  Drummond and spacing we can bring in a stretch 5 off the Bench.. I actually think Collins/Drummond is better fit  than Drummond/Griffin.. Griffin need the ball to slash..Collins is comfortable spotting up..

I can see this being centered around multiple 2nd rounders and maybe even Alex Len. Brooklyn pick should be untouchable

I'm not giving up my stretch 5.. They are a premium if I give up Len I would want Christian Wood in Return.. Atlanta should have Trae/JC/Huerter/Hunter/Reddish/Len/

Parker off limits.. The Brooklyn pick can be dumped. We have enough young talent anyway and we will have our own 1st round pick so Detroit can have the Brooklyn pick/dead money/ and any of the guys not mentioned.

Parker is way worse than Huerter on defense and it's not close. Huerter has defensive BBIQ. He just playing next to Trae and the bigs just aren't helping him.

You sound stupid trying to convince yourself that Kevin and Cam are more of the problems when we got Jones and Len at center and a rookie at that spot as well.

Kevin defensive stats would look miles better if he had bigs like Millsap or Horford.

Parker defense would suck no matter if we had Leonard and George

No one ever said Cam's defense is the problem..Cam's problem is needing to be more consistent offensively and making shots at an efficient rate..

People are turning this into an I hate Huerter deal and that's not the case..All I'm saying is that you can't have 2 guys you're hiding in pick and rolls on defense.. We have 2 guys in Trae and Huerter who you basically have to switch and double team for on every possession like how it was when we had Bibby.. The season's defensive stats don't lie..We have been BBQ chicken when it comes to perimeter defense..

The minutes of Trae and Huerter must be staggered or we are going to continue to get drilled by marginal players like Garrett Temple..

Kevin has been bad defensively. Parker is just brutal, despite what the data may show. I'll believe what my lieing eyes tell me on Parker's attempt to play defense.

I believe what my eyes are telling me when I've watched every game and see  Parker being above average guarding on the wing and in the post..Parker has been very active defensively for the Hawks getting steals and hustling..

Lol! You do realize when we played Parker and Jones for most of the season.

Parker hasn't been nearly as bad defensively as Huerter and of course Parker is going to struggle in the paint when used at the 5! Jones has been foul prone but has been good at times with rim protection..I would much rather keep our rotation of bigs led by Len than pay 25mil per season for a guy in Steven Adams who doesn't block shots, make 3s or free throws..

I think this take is accurate.  But Trae also needs someone who can either relieve him of having to handle the ball all of the time, or be a guy who can knock down a 3 when the ball is passed to him.  We're hoping Cam can be that guy on offense.  Right now though, he's nowhere near that.

I think we could possibly get away with starting Cam, with Collins back to be that 2nd offensive option.  Right now though, I'd rather use Cam coming off the bench and have the option to use him in crunch time when we need stops.

Yea if no external help is going to be brought in then I think we should definitely go back to Cam starting with Collins back in the fold.. Cam defense has been good and it would allow us to stagger Trae x Huerter minutes..but we are forced to play them together because Cam shooting has been so bad..Maybe the 25 games of seasoning without Collins has helped Cam and he can be more effective this time around..

We need to educate ourselves.  We're at the point where we're developing what we have, not trying to churn the roster for guys that aren't clear upgrades.

If a generational guy's there, get him.  If not, don't go gaga over j.a.g.'s (just a guy).

Our ultimate goal should be to win a championship not just develop players..Competition is always healthy..If there are opportunities to bring guys in to compete and possibly surpass the production we are getting at Sg then we should do it..The Warriors drafted Monta but once they realized that Klay was an upgrade they moved on..Too many of you want to live this pipe dream of Kevin being a superstar..its not happening with the Hawks playing next to Trae Young..Maybe next to Dejounte Murray or some other defensive point he could thrive but who knows?? Kevin hasn't shown the consistency offensively at this point..But what has been consistent is poor defense..It started last year with Dwayne Wade just to name a few..smh

Guess you're gonna hafta wait for AntMan... Huerter and Cam off the bench would be pretty nice.

Concerned about Edwards only 6'4? I haven't seen him play.  I'm definitely with the Iron sharpens Iron approach..Trae doesn't have a legitimate backup and the SGs in general are under achieving...We need to upgrade Cam, Huerter, Bembry, ET, VC..None of those guys are the answer at this point. They are either over the hill or taking too long to develop.

This thread is strange and bad at the same time.

Says Kevin is terrible on defense, well, duh. His value is on the offensive end.

Talks shit about Cam Reddish offense which is currently raw. Silly but whatever.

Says neither is ready right now, well, duh again but we are rebuilding. Most rebuilding teams players aren't ready in their rookie or soph year.

Mentions Bogi who defense is terrible as well. Lonzo Ball who offense is trash and he's a primary ball handler. Malik Beasley ain't better than Huerter. Then you got the one he really wants and been mentioning, DeRozan. That's where he wants to go with this. I don't know how many times he has to hear no on DD but whatever. I see where this thread is going. It's a Diesel special.

Kevin's value can be maximized in a reserve role. He's having a lot of trouble defensively like Jimmer..When a majority of guys are both quicker and stronger that's a major problem.. It can't be both..Kevin is a premiere shooter but our incarnation of the Warriors doesn't work with a Klay with no defense and a smaller less defensive Curry..

We got to surround Trae with 5 defensive players his small frame is that troublesome defensively..We need Lonzo Ball who could provide the Bembry D with more control and a shooters mentality..But the Pels are not trading Zo because he and Zion are close.. Trading Zo would fracture Zion relationship with the pelicans.. Which brings me to Malik Beasley..

  13. Kevin Huerter is too often a defensive liability. Either guys are too quick or too strong for him. Game after game he is BBQ chicken in isolation situations.. Colin Sexton destroyed him, Tyler Herro ✔, Jimmy Butler✔ even Freekin Garrett Temple✔ has lit the Hawks up for 25 TWICE!

Trae x Huerter is the worst defensive back court in the league..The Trae Young show will continue so we need to get Trae some immediate compatible back court help who can compete defensively and isn't ball dominant.. And don't tell me Cam! Cam is competent defensively but do we really have 4 years to wait on him getting his field goal percentage up from the 32%  he has shot at Duke and with the Hawks..smh

Neither Cam nor Huerter are ready. Huerter defensive ineptitude is not worth the offensive inconsistencies that he has shown over the last 2 years..He is currently shooting under 40 percent and chips in an occasional 15 points every 3 games. All of this is fine for a 20-25 minutes a game guy of the bench but unacceptable for the starter at the 2.

I'm calling for an immediate upgrade at SG. On my wish list are Bogdan  Bogdonovic( 3pt Sniper), Lonzo Ball(defense), or Malik Beasley(Shooting, Athletic Potential)..As a matter of fact whatever NO is selling I'm buying out of the likes of Holiday, Ball, Reddick.. I was big on Derozan but not sure his ball dominant game would fit.. We need to make something shake before the trade deadline.. If we throw 4 year 88 at Bogdonovic I wouldn't be mad and it would pay the Kings back for Dedmon..

Adams is good fit but I think Noel offers the same for less money. If you want to spend big money on a center sign Drummond.

my preferred options for center would be: Drummond, Noel and Baynes

for PF I would go with Bertans, Ibaka and Wood.

if we add 3 of those players we are set at the front court, for me Drummond, Ibaka and Bertans would be perfect. And Noel Wood and Bertans a combination that I think would work very well for much less money

Exactly!!! for 25 million we can sign Drummond if we want a center who doesn't shoot 3s or make free throws..

I see. Parker is too brutal on defense to be the starter. JC will struggle as a full time C and he hasn't shown he can defend but few a few games this season. We'd get pummelled on the boards .

Trae, DeRozan, Parker, Collins - the no defense lineup. No thanks.

Kevin Huerter is brutal on defense and inconsistent scoring. .

  16. I've read all this BS we don't need a center..We can put Parker at the 4 and Collins at the 5 to form a similar tandem like Smith and Horford..If they are outsized we can bring in Len/Jones/Bruno to match up size wise..All 3 guys have been playing well..

What we need is an All-star level Shooting Guard who can create and score a consistent 20 a night to take pressure off Trae..He is getting full court pressed and trapped nightly..Cam and Huerter are not All Star caliber players at this point and  are too inconsistent and can't take the pressure of Trae like we need..Both would be better served as 17-20 minutes a night guys off the bench..We are wasting valuable years of Trae Young prime waiting on guys to develop..
