Per Spurs fans - Why Sarr won't end up in SAS:
His camp has reportedly let it be known they want him to be the #1 option, so that's not happening with Wemby there.
Sarr's camp was miffed at Wemby responding with 'Risacher' when asked about the best French prospect in this class.
Wemby's agency and Sarr's are reportedly not on good terms so the fit is wonky on and off the court.Yeah. I’m not buying into this random report. I’ve heard Sarr on enough interviews to not believe that he’s telling teams he wants to be the #1 scoring option.

If the hawks take clingan they will not be a drop only team…
Only if they keep and start Okongwu. Clingan is never going to be able to defend on the perimeter.

This is a 7 footer who has elite defensive ability as a rim protector and switch defender, and he has elite ability as a shooter/perimeter oriented scorer.
The decision is easy, Hawks.

There are far more positive shooting indicators with Sarr than there are with Clingan or Edey. I agree with the author of this comment. Not only will Sarr be an effective shooter. He will have gravity as a shooter. Bigs will have to account for him on the perimeter.

They were best with their drop. They also just went to the conference finals. What are we doing here. They had a successful szn.
I’m pointing out the fact that you can’t win with drop only in the playoffs.

I promise you, you don’t have to push an agenda for everything LOL. Gobert net rating numbers and plus minus were great in the playoffs. He was top 5 in terms of value. Like there’s multiple ways to play and win basketball games
Well, keep thinking that the team he’s on will eventually have success in the playoffs when he weaknesses of drop coverage just continue to get exposed.

It would be hilarious if I wasn't a Hawks fan...
Hawks fans thinking Trae is not an elite player is what’s insane.

Again the numbers said gobert was one of the most impactful players in the playoffs lmao.

Until the playoffs start, that is.
Every type of defense has a flaw, a weakness to be exploited. That’s what the playoffs are all about. The disadvantage of this Jazz defense is its complete reliance upon Gobert to protect the paint. If he is pulled out to defend the perimeter, his teammates are not equipped to cover for him. The Jazz defense becomes a layup line. Utah has fallen victim to this too many times. Quin Snyder needs to prepare this team to defend differently when a playoff opponent takes advantage of their system.

This can also be said about Sarr.
Except it can’t, because Sarr has no limitations on defense.

With Clingan, you will have to do A LOT to the players around him to offset what he can’t do defensively and offensively. Even then, his limitations will always get exposed.

The thing with Risacher is that his on ball defense can be good, but I wouldn’t call him a POA defender. His off the ball defense is bad though.

This is just categorically wrong. Risacher is the best POA defender in the draft. He's literally what we thought Hunter would be when we foolishly gave up so much to move up to draft him.
As an aside...I'm not saying the Hawks are definitely doing what I am hearing. It is just what I have been told by sources I trust is the current feeling among the FO. We have like three more weeks of this. Be ready and try not to overreact.
My only personal fear with this franchise is the Tony Ressler problem. We have the most interfering owner in professional sports. If the Hawks got actual, real coverage I truly believe the fanbase would be in uproar over him. If he stays out of the way and let's Landry do his work I do think we have competent FO people in place.
The best POA defender in this draft is Ryan Dunn. He just can’t shoot it at all.

I think we should just forfeit the #1 pick.
If all we are going to do is take Clingan, then just trade the pick for Walker Kessler.

"High lottery pick on a big who is a long term backup"
You mean like Okungwu?
I keep forgetting that this is a fan base who believes you have to be 7 foot and 300 plus pounds to be a real center.

Except the numbers don’t show that what’s so ever and finch wasn’t running drop exclusively for Rudy. They played at the level a ton but KAT and Naz are so horrible as the low man it didn’t work. Only thing that worked for thme was drop
It was the same issues in Utah.

If this is the offseason Trae wants and the players and type trae wants. Then you can sign me up as the main guy all in on a Trae trade. Thats like the complete opposite of what i prefer and want the team to be built like lol.
That would be the worst defensive team in the NBA.

edey doesn't have the same problems as offense as gobert edey can actually grab the ball
Edey can’t defend a chair, and he’s limited to the post on offense.

Just now, Mikey said:
Rudy defense hasn’t been an issue this playoffs. They can’t get a stop without him on the court lol
His problem is his offense and inability to punish people smaller than him. That’s not an issue for clingan. And clignan is such a better passer his dho game would be crazy. You also have Onyeka still to not have to play drop 48 minutes a game
Gobert’s inability to play anything other than drop is exposed every year in the playoffs.

It’s pure insanity to expect Clingan to become what is the 90th percentile outcome for him when he is far more likely to be another Walker Kessler than Rudy Gobert.

What's his best defensive trait?
Also, is he limited in what he can do on defense?

I do think an argument can be made that his best future is at 4 tho. If we can finagle some asset outta WAS but still end up with Sarr, I'd take that.
In fairness, Gobert was good a lot during their run. But it can't be denied that he was also exposed when it mattered most. And exposed in the exact way he was exposed for UTA. It can't be ignored.
And Gobert is the best version of that style of player going. So folks would be hard-pressed to explain how a lesser version of that expose-able player puts us in the best position to win.
The other thing is, if you draft Clingan, then your 2-4 positions MUST BE POA DEFENDERS! They also must be able to shoot, because Clingan is going to give you nothing offensively outside of being a roll man, and you have to have the POA defenders who will fight over screens since you will not be able to switch with Clingan.
