  1. So you want us to give up Murray on a great deal and a rising star big in OO for Ingram’s bad contract, McCollum’a bad contract and Herb Jones, who the Pelicans likely will not trade?
  2. This article has probably already been posted in a previous thread, but it’s good enough to bring back in this thread as a discussion point. https://www.theringer.com/platform/amp/nba/2024/1/10/24032424/trae-young-atlanta-hawks-trade-rumors
  3. Don’t look for the Hawks to go into the draft with the idea that they have to draft a certain position or a need. Based on the rankings, I anticipate that they will have quite a few guys on their list at 10: Cody Williams/Colorado Ron Holland/Ignite Reed Sheppard/Kentucky Dalton Knecht/Tennessee Rob Dillingham/Kentucky Ja’Kobe Walter/Baylor Isaiah Collier/USC Players that probably will go in the 2-6 area that they will have interest in: Donovan Clingan/UConn Stephon Castle/UConn Matas Buzelis/Ignite Zaccharie Risacher/France
  4. We should not accept less, but they aren’t going to trade Jones AND Murphy. When I look at options, there really isn’t a good one where we trade Trae from a player standpoint.
  5. Yup! If we trade for Ingram and then pay him, he will be untradeable in 2 years when you are looking to trade Trae because the fit between the two just isn’t there. I don’t think Landry would do it, but I have no faith that the Resslers will avoid interfering and pushing the deal.
  6. Bud didn’t want to rebuild is the only true statement there. There were other ways of retooling the roster without tanking. Ressler had a great coach and prioritized tanking over keeping the great coach.
  7. It would be a Ressler move to fire an elite coach like Quin. He did force out an elite coach in Budenholzer after all.
  8. Quin isn't bouncing to LA to deal with LeBron and his side show.
  9. It would probably have to be Clint for Nurkic and the 22nd pick. I think they could go for it. Clint is better than Nurkic now, and they don't want to add anyone in this draft. In hindsight, we should have taken Dallas's offer of Davis Bertrans and the 10th pick instead of trying to hold out for Josh Green.
  10. I wonder if the Suns would take Clint's expiring deal for the 22nd pick?
  11. Trading Bogi and OO are both stupid moves unless you are getting a great return.
  12. LA fired Darvin Ham. Quin should bring him back to Atlanta as an assistant.
  13. Agree. The reason it worked in Utah with Mitchell and Conley is because Mitchell is very good off the ball as well as on the ball. Dejounte can be good at both, but unlike Mitchell, he doesn't want to play off the ball. It doesn't make sense to force Trae to play off the ball much anyway.
  14. We also underrated the impact of Cam Reddish's on the ball defense during the run to the ECF finals, as well as his spot up shooting. A lot of that was due to him, and a lot was the lack of coaching he got during his time here. However, during that run, he was a terror as an on the ball defender. The best perimeter defender on the team. We have folks thinking the front court is the issue, but the perimeter defense has ALWAYS been the biggest issue.
  15. As far as two-man line ups, Bogi with Trae is +3 P/100. Bogi with Murray is +1.7 P/100. Trae with Murray is -6.7 P/100.
  16. Those that would want to trade the pick, who are you trading the pick for? There has to be some balance with the win now approach vs also having a long view of things. Are you really going to pass on a potential Rudy Gobert when you are not likely to get that caliber of player in a trade for this pick?
  17. If the Hawks, by some miracle, get a top 3 pick, who are you drafting?
  18. The mistake that was made is that the decision to get Murray was based around the idea of getting Trae to play off the ball more. They felt they needed a secondary ball handler when what they really needed was a defensive upgrade to Huerter.
  19. We have the model for how to build a successful team around Trae. You just have to look back at the 2020-2021 playoff run we had to the ECF. Clint Capela had his legs and was still an elite defensive center. Kevin Huerter and Cam Reddish were giving the Hawks above average perimeter defense at the POA. Bogi, Danilo, and Lou were providing shooting and scoring off the bench. John Collins was providing rebounding and good help defense.
  20. I prefer Trey Murphy to Herb Jones.
  21. So, one potential player that I'd be targeting if I were the Hawks is Isaac Okoro. I wonder what a sign and trade for him would look like from the Hawks standpoint. I've got a list of guys that I feel like, if we could swing trades and get 2 or 3 of them, then we can push to be a top four seed in the East this year. That list includes Herb Jones, Trey Murphy, Isaac Okoro, Cam Johnson, Caleb Martin, and maybe Austin Reaves.
  22. I don't even think the choice is limited to those two. I think it boils down to this. Is there a pathway available that will make this a championship roster in the next two years, or is the front office willing to be patient with some of the youth on this roster and see how it blossoms? Even if they trade Trae, they aren't going to tear the roster down because they do have youth with upside currently on the roster. The pathway for Landry has to make sense both short term and long term, IMO. Can he get a Herb Jones or a Trey Murphy in a deal for DJM? Can he get Brooklyn to move Cam Johnson after he had a rough season for DeAndre Hunter?
  23. The only one close to Trae is Ja Morant.
  24. This is a case of you don't know what you have until it's gone. There are a lot of Hawks fans who have no idea that Trae Young is the best point guard in the NBA. When he's gone, you will realize that.
  25. So, you think they will trade Trae instead of Dejounte?
