  1. I will never buy into this narrative some have that you can't build a championship team around an elite offensive player like Trae Young. The only player in the NBA that creates more scoring opportunities for his teammates is Luka Doncic, but the narrative isn't the same.
  2. My concern is this. Is there a legitimate pathway to becoming a top 4 seed in the East this offseason? Because I think we will have to be a top 4 seed in 2024-2025, or we are going to lose Trae in a year anyway.
  3. Almost 50% of Ingram's shots are 10-feet to 3P.
  4. Two-way players on good contracts and draft picks are involved. It's much better than paying Ingram the $50 plus million per season he thinks he is worth.
  5. I'm not making a case to keep Murray. I am making the case against trading for Ingram. Just because we have to do something isn't a reason to make a stupid trade. If Landry can get New Orleans to give up Herb Jones or Trey Murphy in a deal for DJM, do it. If he can convince Orlando to give up Isaac and picks for Murray, do it. If he can get LA to give up Reaves and picks for Murray, do it. Hell no on Ingram though.
  6. Landry has a good foundation under him. He has apprenticed in the best front office in all of basketball in San Antonio. He's very very intelligent, and the moves that he has made given the constraints he has on him with the directive to avoid the tax have been very good moves. The moves that Landry has made without Schlenk being around: Traded for Saddiq Bey. While Bey has had to fill a bigger role than he should be filling, this was a good trade. They didn't give up much at all to get him, and he's a good fit alongside Trae and in Quin's system because he either drives and attacks the basket or he shoots from deep. He's a rotational player that is good. Hired Quin Snyder as head coach. He got the absolute best coach that was available and got him to come in mid-season. Fantastic hire! Bogdanovich extension. This is a very good deal for the Hawks, and Bogi is another guy that fits Quin's style. Murray extension. Despite the ill fit with Trae, Murray's extension is very much below market for a player of his caliber. This is a very good deal that should be very attractive on the trade market if they decide to move him, but it's also a good deal if they choose to move on from Trae and keep Dejounte. Okongwu extension. Another team friendly deal for a player who has the ability to be a top 10 center in the NBA.
  7. If they trade for Brandon Ingram under the impression that he's a better fit alongside Trae, then they will ultimately lose Trae in a year and be stuck with Brandon Ingram on a bloated contract that completely overvalues what he brings to the table. Brandon Ingram is not going to move the needle and make this team an upper echelon team in the East.
  8. I maintain that our current front office is good but is hampered by ownership who wants to interject their desires into the equation. Our previous GM wasn't that good though at team building, and we are paying for mistakes he made.
  9. Neither one of them attack the rim. They both have very low free throw rates because they don't attack and get into the paint. They drive and then pull up at the free throw line. The perfect fit alongside Trea is Trey Murphy, who is a POA defender and takes over 6 catch and shoot three-point shots a game.
  10. Why spend more only to have the same issues? We can do better than Brandon Ingram for Murray.
  11. Change for the sake of change is worse than running it back.
  12. The Hawks will have the same offensive issues that the Young/ Murray pairing has. Murray’s desire to get to his mid range jumper and his lack of desire to attack the basket and shoot threes is why the fit offensively isn’t there.
  13. For comp, Hunter's 3PAr was .459 and Saddiq Bey's was .514.
  14. Even then, his 3PAr was .350 and .341 with the point guard. So, he's still a guy who is predominately a mid-range jumper kind of player.
  15. There is also a big difference in the contract he will demand vs what we are paying Murray, and he doesn't answer any of the fit questions. Yes, Ingram can play 2/3, more 3 and less 2 really. However, he's still a guy who plays better with the ball than without the ball. He's still not a willing three-point shooter. He doesn't get to the free throw line. He's not a plus defender/POA defender.
  16. Not buying. BI is neither the player nor the value that DM is, particularly since he's going to want a new contract that is for far more than what we are paying DM.
  17. The media is about to bombard us with Trae Young to the Lakers rumors now that LA is out of the playoffs.
  18. This is actually a decent plan. Much better than the trade OO and draft a 7 foot stiff that some others have promoted.
  19. I just don’t think Ingram is going to suddenly change his style.
  20. You know what? The Bogi contract Landry got done is a very good deal for the Hawks as well. Murray and Bogi are both on below market deals through at least the 25/26 season. Onyeka's deal is a very good deal as well. I like what Landry has done in terms of getting extensions at below market prices.
  21. Well, he wasn't traded. They let Freeman walk because it didn't make sense to give a 32-year-old player the 6 year contract he was wanting. They traded for Matt Olson instead and gave the 28-year-old an extension. The lesson that needs to be learned is to not overpay for your own guys. Ronald Acuna signed a below market extension. Same for Ozzie Albies. Dansby Swanson didn't though, and they let him walk. Don't overpay for talent that is replaceable. The John Collins and DeAndre Hunter extensions would have never happened under a guy like AA. Both of those deals were made by Travis Schlenk. Landry Fields has caught the brunt of the discourse over that, but his hands were tied on the Collins deal and any deal that involves Hunter. Now, Landry's one move he did make was signing Murray to a below market deal. Even with the bad fit with Trae, that's a very good move instead of just losing him for nothing.
  22. So, those of you with connections, are you hearing anything different on the Trae front? I know it's media propaganda more than likely, but it seems like there is just a lot more trade Trae talk going on that hasn't been squashed yet. I know Brad keeps reiterating that he's not hearing anything on the Trae front.
  23. Miami Heat folks think they can get whoever they want. They don't have the capital to pull off a deal for Trae Young unless they tamper like they did with Dame and get him to say Miami is the only place he's willing to go.
