For a while Zion was supposedly a strong UK lean & as a lifelong UK fan I was actually relieved when he verballed to Duke. I don’t even know how effective he’ll be in college, much less the NBA. He’ll still see plenty of frontcourts this year that he can bully. But, I think he’ll really struggle against better competition & teams that aren’t undersized. He’s not a good shooter. He doesn’t have good enough handles to create offense for himself OR others against competent defenders. He IS a freak athlete & has the potential to be a good rebounder. It remains to be seen how good of a defensive player he can be. He’s also a true tweener, undersized at the 4 & not quick enough to stay with a 3. Unless I’m drafting for a dunk contest I’d pass on ZW. The potential is there for him to be a very good pro player but he has to show a desire to get better & stay in shape that he hasn’t shown yet. The potential also exists that he won’t develop a jump shot or put in the work to improve & will be exposed as nothing more than a fat guy who can jump. I’m anxious to see how well ZW, Barrett & Reddish fit together. Barrett is a notorious ball hog & chemistry issues could definitely develop.
