  1. The USA team has only a small chance to get out off the group stage. The Czech Republic is the best team in the group cause they play well together and they have Pavel Nedved. The biggest question out of this group is, will Italy underachieve like they always do in major tournaments. Diego Forlan was terrible at Man Utd(Scum) for Sir Alex never played him for any consistent minutes in back to back games. P.S. Go Liverpool
  2. I thought I had better release my opinion on which coaches I expect to be fired before the end of the season. This is in no particular order: 1) Sam Mitchell - Toronto. Nobody knows what their GM Mr Babcock is doing so I wouldn't be surprised if Mitchell's abrasive personality causes more rifts. 2) Mike Brown - Cleveland. If he doesn't get into LeBron's good books early in the season, I'd expect him to go. 3) Stan Van Gundy - Miami. A slow start to the season will mean that Pat Riley will coach in the NBA again. 4) Mike Montgomery - Golden State. For some reason there is a lot of hope around the franchise, but I think they will be crap like they normally are. There are bound to be some unexpected resignations or firings but that is my two cents.
  3. This is such tragic news, taking away someone with such a great personality. I offer my condolences to the Collier family & the Hawks organisation.
  4. According to hoopshype.com, the Hawks have invited Raul Rivera, a center, to have a workout. There is a link but I wonder if there is anyone out there who can translate it to see who this guy is. java script:newwind('http://www.primerahora.com/noticia.asp?guid=402920F2330248AFA471E687504A5F24','31')
  5. If the trade goes thru, then Boston will have five point guards on their roster. Marcus Banks, Delonte West, Dan Dickau, Will Bynum & Orien Greene. So how does all that fit together?
  6. Finally some new signings to report by the ajc.com Hawks add three to roster Sign Tyronn Lue, Salim Stoudamire and John Edwards By SEKOU SMITH The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 08/29/05 The Hawks finally added three more players to the roster Monday with the re-signing of veteran point guard Tyronn Lue and the signing of rookie guard Salim Stoudamire and free agent center John Edwards. Lue, who started 46 games for the Hawks last season, will serve as the primary backup to recently signed free agent Joe Johnson. Terms of a three-year deal were not disclosed. "The Hawks were very diligent about the process and we're very appreciative of how things finished," Lue's New York-based agent Andy Miller said. "There was a lot of time between the first conversation and getting a deal done. But in the end, they followed through on everything we discussed at the start of the process." The 6-foot-1 Stoudamire served notice that he was ready for the challenge with a 39-point outburst in his final summer league game last month in Utah. He signed a three-year deal that will pay him $675,000 in the first year, which is well above the rookie minimum of $400,000. Edwards, a 7-footer who spent his rookie season in Indiana, gives the Hawks another big body to add to a frontcourt rotation remains a work in progress. He signed a two-year deal worth a little over $2 million.
  7. I am curious, does anyone out there think that the NBA is clean from the drug cheats? We all know of the problems in MLB, but we don't hear of any basketballer testing positive to performance enhancing substances. Do you fellas think that the NBA has a good testing system in place?
  8. I have found this interesting viewpoint from a writer for Sports Illustrated. Not sure what to make of it http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...wks2/index.html
  9. I found this article which surprisingly doesn't fully mock the Hawks or its fans. (For once) http://www.nbadraft.net/prevenas050.asp
  10. I'm 23. You just have to love the Hawks logo.
  11. So when we sign Salim, shouldn't we actively look to trade Tony Delk? Since they are both have quite similar skills.
  12. Its good to hear that in public, Billy Knight got a standing ovation for giving Belkin the big rejection.
  13. Here is a quote from an interview Belkin did last year. "If you don’t give to the community and spend positive proactive time supporting positive social programs, eventually that’s going to come back and hurt all of us." I tell you he is not helping the community in Atlanta with what he is doing.
